CONFRATERNITIES WAR: WHEN WILL THIS MADNESS STOP?

I saw this post on a friend blog post captioned “Photos Of Cult Members Burying Their Counterpart Who Was Killed In Edo State”, I cannot pretend that if I see “Eiye gathering” I won’t recognize them! Having said that the story went further to reveal that ‘Members trying to bury their late counterpart who was slain by rival gang in Edo state…… a victim in the battle of supremacy’!!!

If the above information is correct, it means that the essence of brotherhood is lost. I don’t know what you guys are fighting and killing yourself for? Instead to direct your anger towards your political leaders that embezzled the nation resources that left most of you jobless, you guys are busy killing one another!

However, it is important to know that 'until we can collectively say that Nigerian confraternities have succeeded in eliminating inter confraternity violence on our university campuses, provided leadership training skills for the youths to make them more productive members of the larger society, while at the same time contributing to national stability, security of both lives and property, eradication of poverty and preventable diseases, advocating for a better and less corrupt Nigeria through the presence of rule of law, respect for the rights and dignity of man, peaceful resolution of conflicts in a democratic society where solid foundation is laid for sustainable economic development and social justice, it cannot be said that we have contributed in any meaningful way towards the Nigerian nation-building’.

I still maintain my stand thus: ''My sincere advice to the youth in our citadel of higher learning is that you must get education. Come together and stop killing yourselves. Direct your anger to fight against our corrupt leaders and change our country to better your future. Killings are not part of confraternity, '' IN ADDITION, STOP ALL THIS KILLINGS, BECAUSE YOU MAY END UP KILLING YOUR BENEFACTOR.....................I HAVE SPOKEN.... Ata....

BROTHERHOOD:SUPREME EIYE CONFRATERNITY IS NOT A CULT

I take my time to watch a video titled ‘Cults –Nigeria’, where Professor Wole Soyinka take us down to memory lane of the students confraternity in Nigeria higher institutions.

 Having said that, this particular blog is not meant to attack the personality of Wole Soyinka, it is just to put some record straight

The citation of the video read thus ‘In Nigeria, University fraternities have taken on brutal extremes. Students are being murdered and defiled with impunity by vicious cult members’.

According to Soyinka, ‘the cults today’s idea of students fraternity are gradually destroying the nation intellectual heartland. The so called fraternity today are nothing but gangs of thugs, drug addicts, killers who terrorize their fellow students, faculties, entire campus workers and citizen outside the campuses’

Be that as it may, there is a need here to define here the term cult and confraternity, so that we do not throw the baby and the dirty water away;
and this will shed more light on these people that paraded themselves as cult or confraternity members.

Cult or cultism can be define ‘as a system of religious worship or ritual; or a quasi-religious group, often living in a colony, with a charismatic leader who indoctrinates members with unorthodox or extremist views, practices, or beliefs or a group of followers; sect’.

While Confraternity, according to Oxford dictionary can be define as ‘A brotherhood, especially with a charitable or religious purpose’

With the above definitions, it shows clearly that the groups of people that perpetrated the killing in our post secondary schools in Nigeria do not belong to any of the two; they are just killer groups, terrorists, ritualists and gang of evil doers that kill for fun which needs to be wiped out completely.

According to Professor Soyinka, ‘Black Axe like Eiye have earned the reputation of the most notorious of the campuses cult!’.On this particular statement, i beg to disagree with our ‘godfather’.
Like Pyrate Confraternity, The Supreme Eiye Confraternity a.k.a National Association Of Airlords was formed  by the group of  modest background like our Wole Soyinka  at the prestigious University of Ibadan in 1965 as a GENUINE desire to be free from BONDAGE,ILL-CONCEIVED REGULATION and OBNOXIOUS TABOO..........life of FREEDOM and UNRESTRICTED EXPRESSION...........its adhere to the principle of doing what was natural .FREEDOM was the name of the game.

Confraternities are not the same as murderous secret cults. You will find student confraternities in almost every university in the world. They are social and intellectual associations. Why should Soyinka be blamed himself if today’s students in Nigeria have pervaded a time-honoured university tradition?

As Professor Wole Soyinka rightly said, ‘The society is dehumanised by the decades of military dictatorship, looting of oil money and enthronement of brute power’

My sincere advice to the youth in our citadel of  higher learning is that you must get education. Come together and stop killing yourselves. Direct your anger to fight against our corrupt leaders and change our country to better your future. Killings are not part of confraternity, Ata.

''I am sure that everyone that has ever fraternized will agree that one of the biggest problems facing confraternities in Nigeria is the issue of misrepresentation by less superior fraternities, and huge misconception by the homosapien .This has in no way helped to suppressed the myth that surrounds the entire ideology of fraternization. However, here we are going to separate the chaff from the wheat.

The history of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity owes its heritage to the wise and noble “Aro Metta”. On the 15th June 1969 the “Aro Metta” came together under the Araba tree, to develop what will be recognised as the first constitution of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity any years later. This event signalled the beginning of the most traditional and original confraternity in Nigerian history. From Araba nest, Eleye grew in power, fame and recognition. Reaching far and wide, unrestricted, undeterred, unfazed. Reaching as far as the sky spread.''



THE SITUATION AT THE MOMENT

As the saying goes, in every 12 disciples their is a Judas.Be that as it may, there are definitely BAD eggs in the BROTHERHOOD,

who were using the name of this noble association for there selfish gains, or been use by the power that be.However, the WORLD BIRDS are working round the clock to correct and put an end to all these madness.

THE WAY FORWARD

1.    In my own little contribution, i will implore all the current Leaders of all CONFRATERNITIES in Nigeria i.e VIKINGS, MAFIAS,BUCCANEERS,

AIRLORDS............ETC,to please link each other and spread the OLIVE trees among themselves.What will you get or gain  if you kill your fellow brother?

All of you went to higher institutions to better yourself,your family,and the community at large. Then tell me what will be your gain by ending up in

a STRAIGHT JACKET?

2.   All the leaders must check the would be potential members very well to ascertain there motives before admitting them.

3.Make use of your old members for advice,make use of your time judiciously,use your senses,connection positively.

STOP ALL THIS KILLINGS,BECAUSE YOU MAY END UP KILLING YOUR BENEFACTOR.....................I HAVE SPOKEN.  

RUGGED EIYE

Supreme Eiye Confraternity is an organisation that is formed ahead of its time. As a saying in YORUBA proverb says 'OJU ORUN TO 
EIYE FO LAI FARA KONRA' which translate thus: THE SKY IS WIDE ENOUGH FOR THE BIRDS TO FLY WITHOUT TOUCHING EACH OTHER'

 This means that all of us in this world can move about  freely  without disturbing ,hinder,or create unnecessary havoc to  each other either by way of RELIGION; CULTURE, IDEOLOGY  TRADITION,  BELIEVE ETC. That is we must tolerate  and respect each other.Respect is reciprocal.

As an Eyie, you can move anywhere in the world, live anywhere, eat anywhere. As EIYE ONI SASUN EIYE NBUTA.
