GOOD NIGHT MOJI: ARTISTES PAY TRIBUTE TO MOJI OLAIYA (+ VIDEO MOMENT HER REMAINS ARRIVED LAGOS)

Moji Olaiya, who was one of the children of highlife music icon, Victor Olaiya, died on May 18 while abroad, two months after the birth of her baby.

Actresses such a Fathia Balogun, Bimbo Oshin and Foluke Daramola struggled to hold back their tears while paying their tributes to the memory of Moji.
“I can’t believe that my sister is gone; she was a loving person, kind-hearted and always smiling,” said Funmi Olaiya, the elder sister to the deceased.

She continued by saying, “Even if you fight with her, she will always find ways to come back and make peace with you.
“When I heard she was dead; I was expecting a miracle from God that would wake her up and bring her back to us. But today and now is the wake, meaning she is not coming back.
“I just pray for her soul to be with God and that her gentle soul to rest in peace.
“I will miss her so much. The last time we talked, I forgot to tell her I missed her but now I’m telling her that I love her and I will miss her so much, “she said.
Also, popular actress, Fathia Balogun said, “Moji loved this job a lot; she kept telling me that she had not done enough for this industry.
“She had a lot of projects pending. Giving back to the society was what Moji Olaiya had always wanted to do. And she was doing it in her own little way.
“Losing Moji in the industry for me is a minus because Moji was a fantastic and a very strong person that nobody would want to miss as a friend, sister or mother.
“We have great plans for the kids, but you know we say it and God does it.
“We pray that God will give us the strength to continue with the plans and fulfil the promises we made to the kids, but I know that they are not going to suffer.
“We actually planned this burial arrangement in one week, thanks to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who gave us money to bring back her corpse (the precious cargo) from Canada to be buried in Nigeria.
“And I am so happy that Moji will be buried in her father’s land. It will have been sad if she was buried over there,” she said.

In the same vein; another actor, Adeoye Adewale, popularly known as `Elesho`, said that the late Moji Olaiya was a very humble, reputable and nice lady.
“I felt bad when I heard the sad news of her death, it is a great loss to the entertainment industry and may her soul rest in peace,” he said.
Also, Shola Shodimu said “It’s a big loss, Moji was good, professionally she was good.
“She had so much humility around her; we are all going to miss her.
“If I should begin to itemise all I knew about her, it would be an endless miss, because she was a thorough professional.
“I can only say that God should grant those she left behind, especially, the family, the fortitude to bear the loss. It’s a big loss,” he said.
Veteran musician, Queen Salawa Abeni, said, “I felt so sad when I heard about her death, and I’m going to miss her beautiful smile.
“I pray for her mum and dad, for almighty Allah to console them. Then for the children, we need to stand up and join hands to see the children grow and succeed.
“We cannot just pay our last respect today and turn our back; I advise that we contribute toward her children and family’s welfare,” she said.
Popular Fuji artist, Pasuma said, “The last time I saw her was during one of her movie premier.

“This is a sad thing to happen and we need more prayers in the industry. We have to pray for her and her family and children.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.

MOJI OLAIYA: THE SHAME CALLED NOLLYWOOD.

NOT A NOLLYWOOD SCRIPT.........
Husband to actress, Foluke Daramola and founder Coordinator of Change Agents of Nigeria Network (CANN), Olukayode Salako thanked Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu for sponsoring the Burial of Moji Olaiya, especially the transporting of the corpse back to Nigeria, He wrote that the burial committee called Governor Ayo Fayose and he responded that he doesn't know any Moji Olaiya.
He wrote:
WHEN SUCH A MAN OF CRUDE, DIRTY CHARACTER AND ORIENTATION IS IN CHARGE OF LEADERSHIP AND POWER.
Burial Committee:
Your Excellency, Moji Olaiya is dead and as an ambassador of your state, we would appreciate your support to fly her corpse back to Nigeria for befitting burial
Governor Fayose:
Who is Moji?! I don't know any Moji. Please, stop disturbing my phone!
What an aberration!
What an awkwardness and crudity in leadership!
Meanwhile,
Thank you Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu for always proving it that you remain among the only few reasonable, reliable and benevolent fathers of the Yoruba nation ever since.
Moji's remains are coming back home.
Thank you Jagaban!
Thank you, all well-meaning Nigerians who have contributed in one way or the other.
Thank you, sir!
What a man with such a large heart!

The optics are bad only for those that can reason deep enough. A Yoruba adage goes: try and pretend to trip from a walk and see how many people will have your back. The manner in which Moji Olaiya died was bad. The way with which her corpse has been treated by her Nollywood friends has been disheartening, to say the least. During her illustrious Nollywood career in which she became a superstar. Over six million Yoruba movies were produced and counting. Moji starred in thousands of them.

When she died, we found out that her Nollywood friends could not come together to raise the money to bring her body home from Canada. Sad. All they did was shed tears acting to be in sorrow on Social media. The committee of friends led by Fathia Balogun had to go cap in hands begging to for money for the deceased superstar. To confirm the troubling fact that 96% of deaths in Nollywood has been due to either neglect by "Nollywood friends" and poverty.

We are talking about an industry where the stars are known to flaunt their wealth on red carpets. An industry with so many associations that would kill to get the next government money. The theme in most Nollywood stories is how well the country is doing. How many billions they won from a government contract. We see the big expensive cars. We see the breathtaking mansions. We see the designer bags and clothes. But when it was time to pay for Enebeli Elebuwa's ( Andrew No Check Out) medical bills. Nollywood stood by and watch him die. Same was the fate of Mufutau Sanni ( Ajigijaga) and so many others.

Most depressing now is what Nollywood friends are doing to Moji Olaiya, after her sad and unexpected demise. The truth in Nollywood is everyman for himself and God help us all. We often and rightfully find the government as the scapegoat to vent our blame and anger. But it is time Nollywood looks into the mirror. There is more to life besides lights, camera, action. When life happens to friends where will Nollywood be?

Thank you Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu. Thank you, sir, for doing what friends of Moji could not do. Finally, Moji Olaiya will come home to sleep. Thank you Jagaban.

"WHAT MY MOTHER TOLD ME THE DAY SHE DIED"~~MOJI'S DAUGHTER

Adunoluwa, 20, daughter of late Nollywood actress, Moji Oaliya has described her mother’s death as the worst news in her life.

Speaking with newsmen on Saturday at her family house in Lagos, the bereaved young lady said on the fateful day that her mum passed on, she spoke with her over the phone and both of them had a good time, DAILY POST reports.

She recalled with nostalgia, “This is the worst kind of news anyone can hear. I spoke with her on the day she died and nothing prepared me for this bad news. We had a good time over the phone and she told me how my sister was doing and all. I will miss her love and care, because she always provided anything I wanted.”

On how the funeral rites would be handled, Adun simply said, “I don’t know at this point. It is the family that will take care of that.”

HOW MOJI OLAIYA DIED IN HER BASE IN CANADA....

At the Magodo residence of Nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya, her elder brother Otunba Olaiya who spoke to NET said the Moji’s death was most unexpected. ‘When I spoke to her a few days ago, she did not give signs of death. She never complained about anything. This is really heartbreaking’, he said.

Olaiya’s housekeeper Mrs Keji, who described herself as a very close friend of the deceased revealed details of the actress’s sudden death to us.

According to her, in the last three days before she passed away; the actress had placed several calls from her base in Canada to complain of ‘being uncomfortable’.

‘Her baby was born premature- her EDD was for May 2017 but  complications arose that necessitated that she be induced to save the baby’s life as well as hers. But since the delivery in March, her health had not been exactly perfect’.

Mrs Keji further exclusively informed us that around 10pm local time (3am Nigerian time) she went into a crisis. ‘Her blood pressure shot up and she got unconscious. An ambulance was called to transport her to the hospital. But her case worsened and she gave up the ghost before they could make it to the hospital.’

Keji who could not hold back tears continued, ‘Moji could not say goodbye to us, she didn’t let us hold her baby, where will her mother start from? Her death came too early, I believe this was not ordinary. This looks like a spiritual attack.’

Her 20- year old daughter, Adunola was visibly hysterical and had to be held back by friends who were around to console her. The Babcock University student was then taken into an inner room as her screams continued to be heard.

Moji Olaiya’s infant daughter however is said to be in care of her friend with whom she was staying in Canada. It is unsure what will happen to the two month old. Olaiya’s relationship with the father of the child, simply called ‘Mr Femi’ is hazy as there as insinuations that he is still married to someone else.

The 42 year old’s death almost exactly two years to the death of her younger brother Abidemi Olaiya who died on May 4 2015.

Her elder brother Otunba, however told us that the family had not informed their patriarch, renowned highlife muscian Dr Victor Olaiya.

‘As you know, Baba is old and it is never a good thing for children to die before their parents. We do not know how he will take it. We have to be really careful, but we are going to his Aguda residence later this evening,’ he said. (NET)
