BEVERLY NAYA: I CANT SETTLE 4 LESS IN RELATIONSHIP

Beverly Naya, is a British born Nigerian actress. Born and raised in England is one of the darlings of Nollywood. She won the Most Promising Talent category at the 2010 Best of Nollywood Awards. She also won the award for Fast Rising Actress at the 2011 City People Entertainment Awards.

The only child to her British parents, she began acting while studying Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology at Brunel University. She also studied script-writing and film-making at Roehampton University .

Beverly that relocated to Nigeria from Great Britain said ‘I’m still trying to adjust to the culture and the society here. But then, it has ultimately been an amazing journey, especially because I have learnt so much and have grown so much as a person and as a woman. So, I am grateful to God for the journey so far. I don’t have any regrets; I am happy being here.

However, she added that ‘it was a major challenge in the beginning. But the longer I live here, the more I understand how to do things. I think, for that reason, it makes me more grounded. So, I am happy.

Beverly talked about how the character (church girl )she played   in this series, Oasis, affect the way she see things thus: ‘It makes me appreciate life more and I’ve realised that I can’t take anything for granted because tomorrow is not certain. So, I’ve realised that I must cherish today, live life to the fullest, thank God for everything and be grateful for how far I’ve come. Sometimes, we tend to take our blessings into our own hands, forgetting that there is someone responsible for bringing us and taking us to where we are today-that is God. I think, in that respect, I’ve learnt how to appreciate God for everything in me, for every breath and every achievement I have had.

Beverly, who claimed to be a very private person said ‘ I don’t like to go out that much. If I do go out, then, I make sure it is for an event or I am hanging out with my friends or stuff like that. I don’t like to be seen at the wrong place and at the wrong time because I don’t want a situation, where I will have to explain my actions. I think that is the most important thing to me. I like to stay humble and stay grounded. That is really how I avoid controversies.

She added that a controversy doesn’t sell an actress ‘It just makes one cheap in my opinion. Besides, I am trying to be an inspiring woman. I am trying to be a brand that young girls can look up to and be inspired. It is not that I am a role model; I am not trying to be a role model and I am not saying I am perfect as a human being either. But I am just saying that I want people to look at me and say they are inspired by what I have done in my life. So, in that respect, I do not think that controversies sell at all.

Beverly talked about her pet project in this way: ‘’For me, I just felt like we live in a time, where our black females aren’t necessarily appreciative of their skin colour as much as they should-not all of them though. I want to inspire young girls because I feel like there is no point in targeting adults because their minds have already been formed. So, if I could just inspire young females to love themselves, no matter what and appreciate their black beauty just the way it is, then, I will be inspiring the next generation. That was the main reason I started the project. Then, I brought together some artistes to join me in the campaign; and so far, it has been worth it.

Relationship? ‘At the moment, I am not in a relationship. Well, I just feel it is better for things to remain the way they are than for me to settle for less.

TINUBU HAS MEMORY PROBLEM AS A RESULT OF EXCESSIVE DRUGS CONSUMPTION...IKIMI

Failed politician and beautiful bride of all political parties Chief Tom Ikimi who recently left the APC has descended on Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over his recent attack on his person, saying the former Lagos State Governor has memory problem derived from excessive consumption of drugs.

Ikimi, while expressing surprise at the welcome home reception accorded him by PDP members and party stalwarts, who stormed Benin Airport, described APC as a party whose leadership comprises people who engage in plotting against one another.

“But I want to clarify that I read the kind of response the leader from Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, tried to make and I think he has lost it all. For once, I think he has a memory problem and I think the memory problem derives from his excessive consumption of various things”.

On the fear that he may likely sell the party to the ruling PDP, chief Ikimi said, “Did I need to spend twelve years to create a party in order to sell it? I created the party, I did not join the party.

“First of all, if he has a good memory, Abiola was in SDP not in NRC. I in NRC cannot betray someone who is in PDP. Secondly I stopped being chairman of NRC in 1992. Abiola’s election was in 1993. The National Chairman was Dr Hamed Kusamatu who was his own kinsman.

“How can I become the chairman to betray Abiola when I was not Kusamtu. Even if it was NRC, between Kusamotu and myself was Mrs Okolu. So there were two other chairmen before me. “Now SPD went to election, the first foreign minister was Baba Gana Kingibe who was his running mate. How could I have been the one who betrayed him? I did not join Abacha’s government until 1994.
So, tell Bola Tinubu to get his historical facts correct”

“I have heard people talked about Abacha. Who did not work for Abacha? Who was that woman who was carrying market women to demonstrate on behalf of Abacha. So, let be very careful when pointing accusing fingers at others. “I created the PTF. I was adviser, somebody ran the PTF. When the time comes, find out where he is now. Today they are building a lot of projects in Lagos and who is the contractor who is doing it, he is a contractor who used to work with Abacha.”
