MUMUGIOUSITY: RELIGION HAS TURNED MY PEOPLE INTO MUMU'S....CHARLE BOY

Below is an article written by one and only 'Charle Boy', enjoy it.

For starters, don't pick up the dictionary to lookup ‘Mumugiousity’, I coined it myself but you go soon grab weytin I wan yarn.

As I approach this topic I want to be careful so readers don't get the whole essence of this write up, twisted. E no dey hard some people. Religion is a touchy subject for a lot of people and in my household it is generally not considered "polite conversation."

For some, an attack on religion is an attack on their god or gods. I only wish to put down certain points or aspects of organized religion I’m not comfortable with, I am not questioning anyone's belief in a personal god.

In Nigeria, religion has helped us to remain sane or else we all for donkolowith the way our environment is stifling us. Religion can give people a sense of community and make people feel welcomed.  But life is never that simple sha. Kai! Oh lord.

In Nigeria especially, religion has turned a lot of my people intoMUMU's.  Instead of learning to discern truth on their own and formulate their own mindset, they're told how to think.

These are the people engaged in ‘Mumugiousity’. For them Religion has turned them into group soul's, sheep, cows and goat with their Shepherd as their pastors, who have erased their trust in their own intellect and gradually convinced them to put their trust in them(pastors) as the only true men of god, convincing them that without them they would be lost. Hummmm! They fall for this like very poor people would fall for a bag of rice. Odikwarisky…

You have become ‘mumurized’ when you can forgo the little intelligence you have and on top of all that, you become a hypocrite. Religion is filling mumupeople with fear; it is one of the main reasons why mumupeople are afraid of living. And when I say ‘living’ I don’t mean just surviving. To survive is one thing, even stones do that, but to live is a completely different thing. To live means to be sensitive, it means to feel, to grow, to discover your potential and achieve to higher states of being each and every moment. These days nothing happens without it being remote controlled from the village, someone must have sent it, there are more demons waiting to destroy us, chineke God are you there?

Once you are a religious mumu you will not tolerate religious ideologies that are different from the one you follow. This is why you can see religious mumupeople fighting nonreligious ones.

To identify with a religious ideology, and call it the only truth and way, leads to tremendously negative consequences – hatred, tribalism and all kinds of violence. Just think of how many wars have been carried out throughout history by some mumu's in the name of God and religion.Abegi!

To live means to learn and life is a continuous lesson. When, however, you grow into ‘mumuship’, conditioned to believe what is right and wrong according to religion, and told that to doubt religion means to go to hell, naturally you become afraid of seeking true knowledge. You stop searching to find the truth, to learn, and hence to grow as a human being. You can't believe how many of us have stopped growing…Millions.

To blindly follow any ideology without asking questions simply means to restrict your perception, suppress yourself, and live in hypocrisy — in other words, to live in suffering and misery.

Many mumu people choose to follow, even though they suffer from this choice, simply because religion frees them from personal responsibility. To live spontaneously one has to take responsibility for oneself, and this is certainly painful. Life is made of choices, and to make the right choice is not always easy. So ‘mumu’ people prefer not to choose for themselves, but to have others choose for them. They prefer to walk on paths made by others, instead of creating their own path. But unless we stop having some of thesewayopeople telling these mumupeople what to do or what not to do, some of us will never be free. And unless we are free, we will never be happy and peaceful.

Yes, you can have a personal relationship with God starting with giving love to your neighbour; just don't let some masquerades turn you and your life to ‘Mumugiousity’. Fire burn dem.'

COURT UPHOLDS BAN ON THE USE OF HIJAB IN LAGOS PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The wearing of Hijab (Muslim head scarf) in public primary and secondary schools in Lagos state remain banned. An Ikeja High Court today Friday October 17th upheld the ban on the ground ‘that since the public schools were being funded by the government, it was therefore competent to issue dress codes and other guidelines to the students’

Justice Modupe Onyeabor dismissed the suit instituted against the Lagos State Government by two 12-year-old girls under the aegis of the Muslim Students of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit.

It will be recalled that the Lagos State Government had banned the use of Hijab on the argument that it was not part of the approved school uniform for pupils.

Following the ban, the students filed the suit on May 27, 2013, seeking redress and asked the court to declare the ban as a violation of their rights to freedom of thought, religion and education.
In her judgment, Onyeabor held that the prohibition of the wearing of Hijab over school uniforms within and outside the premises of public schools was not discriminatory.

According to her, the ban does not violate sections 38 and 42 of the 1999 Constitution as claimed by the plaintiffs.
The judge said Section 10 of the Constitution made Nigeria a secular state and that government must maintain neutrality at all times.

Onyeabor said the government therefore had a duty to preserve the secular nature of the institutions concerned as argued by the Lagos State Solicitor-General, Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN).
She noted that since the public schools were being funded by the government, it was therefore competent to issue dress codes and other guidelines to the students.

According to her, the use of uniforms engenders uniformity and encourages students to pursue their mutual academic aspirations without recourse to religious or any other affiliations.
The judge, however, observed that the uniformity sought by the government in the issuance of the dress code would be destroyed, should the prayers of the plaintiffs be granted.

“The non-Hijab wearing students will feel inferior to those who are putting on Hijab.
“The values of plurality and the respect for the rights of others who have subscribed to a non-faith based educational system cannot be breached.
“In that effect, the issue is resolved in favour of the respondents and the suit is accordingly dismissed,’’ Onyeabor said.

Reacting to the judgment, the plaintiffs’ counsel, Chief Gani Adetola-Kazeem, told NAN that his clients would file an appeal against the judgment.

“Well the court has spoken but there are still very many issues to be considered which invariably means that we will appeal the judgment.
“We are simply not satisfied with the court decision.

“The angle through which the court has looked at the issue is quite at variance with the provisions of the constitution. We will definitely appeal,” he said.

OSAZUWA 'THE KIDNAPPER' JUMPED TO HIS DEATH FROM 15-STOREY BUILDING IN MALAYSIA WHILE HIS GANG WERE ARRESTED

Nigerian youths with their quest to get rich at all cost! One Nigerian man (pictured above) named Osazuwa allegedly jumped to his death from a 15-storey building on Monday October 13th as police stormed a place he was staying with friends in Malaysia.

It was gathered that, a Nigerian student had lodged a police report in Puchong on Sunday October 12th, claiming his girlfriend had been kidnapped by Osazuwa and his gang.

"The boyfriend said he received a call from a suspect who demanded RM40,000 for the release of his girlfriend, also a Nigerian student here. We suspected the kidnappers were people that the victim must have known. Police immediately tracked the victim and her kidnappers’ whereabouts.” criminal investigator Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said.

Malaysia police said the victim’s boyfriend cooperated with the police in their investigations and played along with the suspects into giving him more time to raise the ransom money.

However, the police managed to find the victim’s location on Monday. She was being held in a condominium unit in Taman Melati, Ampang.

“We formed a team to raid the condominium unit and moved in on the suspects at about5pm.”
Mohd Adnan said when police ambushed the unit located at the condominium’s 13th floor; there were three Nigerian men and two local women.

“Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to escape. The raiding team arrested two women and two men,” he said.
The other suspect tried to climb down from the balcony to a unit below.

However, he could not grab hold of anything and fell to his death.

“The suspect who died was in his 20s and we are still trying to establish his identity,” Mohd Adnan said.
The victim was unharmed while in the custody of the suspects. He said investigations are underway to determine how many other kidnapping cases they were involved in.

“The gang thought they could get money quickly by carrying out this crime, but look what had happened — it has just gone awfully wrong,” he said.
