OKE WALI RELEASED AFTER 13 DAYS IN KIDNAPPERS' DEN

Mr Okey Wali, SAN,former President of the Nigerian Bar Association,( NBA)  who was kidnapped on Oct 11th by unknown gunmen in Port Harcourt  (read here) has been released. According to a statement released by the current President of the NBA, Mr Augustine Aleghe, Mr Wali was released around 11pm last night after spending 13 days in captivity.

CRIMINAL FEMALE BANKER FORFEITS PROPERTIES TO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

EFCC press statements read thus:

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured an order of the Federal High Court, Kano for forfeiture of the properties of one Yagana Ibrahim Bukar a.k.a Aisha Shettima Noor.

By the order, dated October 3, 2014, the properties of the accused person which are believed to be proceeds of crime are to be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The assets include various sums of money stashed in three different bank accounts, a Honda Accord car with registration No. BD 496 NSR, a Toyota Matrix Car with registration No. FGE 122 AE and a Shop with goods situated at Badawa Layout, Kano.

The forfeiture order followed the refusal of the accused who is being prosecuted on two separate criminal charges bordering on money laundering, stealing and obtaining by false pretence, to present herself for trial after she was granted bail upon arraignment.

Yagana is alleged to have forged various personal and official documents which she used in withdrawing huge sums of money from an Azman Oil and Gas Limited account domiciled with one of the new generation banks in Kano, while being the Account Officer of the company in 2013.

PATIENCE JONATHAN RESIGNED AS 'SUPER' PERMANENT SECRETARY IN BAYELSA CIVIL SERVICE

The only powerful civil servant in the service of Bayelsa state, has resigned. Dame Patience Jonathan has resigned her appointment as 'Super' Permanent Secretary in the Civil service, a position conferred on her in July 2012 by the Governor of the state, Dickson Seriake. based ‘on her good service to the state and nation.’ Yes, good service to the whole world!!!

A source in the state Ministry of Education who pleaded anonymity said:

"The whole thing is political. It appears Madam Peace is not happy with the governor. With her resignation, the battle line has been drawn. I feel the President’s wife resigned to enable her to have the moral right to slug it out with Dickson ahead of the governorship poll in the state. Let no one deceive you, the whole thing is politics. After all, she is 57 and the retirement age is 60.”

48-HOUR ULTIMATUM GIVEN TO 'ASHAWO' TO VACATE ABUJA EXPIRE TODAY

The Secretary for Social Development, Mrs. Blessing Onuh, after an official visit to several locations known to witness heavy activity of prostitutes and their patrons in the Federal Capital Territory, then gave a 48-hour ultimatum to vacate the city or face the full wrath of the law while men and women who patronise them will be punished with a death sentence.

She noted that prostitution has metamorphosed from the conventional sedentary practice in local brothels to a sophisticated cartel of “runs babes” and the corporate realm and that the ‘executive’ type now holds in many luxury hotels in the Abuja metropolis and the exquisite homes of the super-rich. Spots like Port Harcourt Crescent, off Gimbiya Street, Garki; Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent, Sheraton Junction in Wuse II; and virtually all the discothèques; including poor neighbourhoods like Nyanyan, Mararaba and Gwagwa, have joined the illicit trade.

“They parade a horde of half-unclad girls and women of various ages and sizes brazenly exposing themselves, while openly and desperately beckoning on motorists and passers-by to pick them for the night. 

They insult, poke rude jokes and pour vituperation on those who look at them scornfully or ignore them. Indeed, for Abuja’s affluent and powerful men, it has become commonplace to place order for these women on the street or import them from other states and even from far-flung countries in the Caribbean and Asian countries.

High-society social, political functions are incomplete without a harem of these shadowy women. The import of these is that the upsurge requires a holistic framework to be able to deal with this seemingly intractable scourge.”

LAGOS GUBERNATORIAL : AKIN AMBODE SET TO DECLARE TOMORROW @ONIKAN STADIUM

 Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, and former Accountant General of Lagos State, will on Friday, October 24th, formally declare his intention to seek the candidacy of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to run for the office of the Lagos State Governor.

According to the statement from the campaign organisation of the politician, the declaration will take place at the Onikan Stadium at 10am.

 His campaign office noted that the declaration is coming on the heels of the massive endorsement that the Epe-born Ambode got from Islamic clerics in Lagos State on Tuesday at the Blue Roof, Lagos State Television Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

 “Tomorrow’s declaration, which is expected to be a carnival-like endorsement of Ambode by stakeholders from all the 57 council areas in Lagos State is an opportunity for the frontline aspirant to thank party stalwarts, who have given him good reception during his year-long consultation and to sell his 5-point agenda of Continuity and Consolidation to Lagosians,” the campaign office stated.

CRIME:WHITE HOUSE FENCE JUMPER IS A NIGERIAN MAN NAMED 'DOMINIC ADESANYA'

The White House fence jumper is a Nigerian man based in Maryland, USA. Dominic Adesanya, according to police climbed the fence around 7.15pm yesterday Wednesday October 22nd, on the North Lawn of the building and got about 20 yards past the fence before he was taken down by Secret Service and dogs.

He's currently in police custody but is being treated in a hospital for injuries he sustained during the encounter. He was attacked by K.9 dogs.

The White House was on a lock-down for about two hours after Adesanya jumped the fence. President Obama was said to be in the White House at the time of the incident. Police also said Adesanya was not armed.
