MOVIE: 23 KNOWN FACTS ABOUT 'PRETTY WOMAN' THE MOVIE

1. Pretty Woman was originally titled $3,000 (the amount Vivian was paid for the week). However, the title was confusing to the audience and they thought the movie was about a hooker on the moon.

2. Meg Ryan was their first choice to play Vivian, but she turned down the role. In fact, many other actresses were chosen before Julia Roberts, including Kim Basinger, Melanie Griffith, Sharon Stone, Michelle Pfeiffer, Heather Locklear, Diane Lane and more.

3. Julia's head was actually superimposed on body double Shelley Michelle for the Pretty Woman movie poster.

4. When Richard Gere is asking for directions in the beginning of the movie, you are actually hearing director Garry Marshall's voice because the real actor was out of the country when they had to re-film the line.

5. Next time you watch the movie, you'll notice that Vivian rarely sits down on a chair. They purposely did that to show Vivian felt more comfortable sitting on the floor or on top of furniture thanks to her profession.

6. When Edward fires Stuckey, you can see Richard Gere's tongue moving around his mouth because a crown was knocked off his molar during the scene.

7. Did you know Pretty Woman is a Disney movie? Shocking!

8. Director Garry Marshall placed his daughter in the movie. She plays the front desk clerk at the hotel.

9. All of the scenes filmed on Rodeo Drive were done on Sundays since the city has strict filming rules on that street. You can't take away their business hours during the week!

10. The Beverly Wilshire Hotel where the movie takes place used to be an Auto Speedway where cars raced. In 1928, the Beverly Wilshire Apartment Hotel opened.

11. Julia Roberts was only 22 years old when this movie released in March 1990. That month Roberts ended her relationship with Dylan McDermott and started dating Kiefer Sutherland AKA Jack Bauer.

12. Hector Elizondo, the hotel manager, and Garry Marshall have worked together on 14 different films including Georgia Rule, Beaches, and The Other Sister.

13. The original plan was to shoot the opera scene in San Francisco, however, an earthquake forced them to quickly relocate to the history museum by USC.

14. Pretty Woman was one of Hank Azaria's first movie roles ever! He played a detective in the flick, and we now know him as David on Friends and many of the voices on The Simpsons.

15. In the dinner scene when Vivian flings the snail across the room, the waiter says, "It happens all the time." Garry Marshall thought it would be fun to cast the same actor with the same line in The Princess Diaries.

16. Mistake alert! In the scene after their first night together, Julia is eating a croissant at breakfast. When they cut back to her, she is eating a pancake instead.

17. The infamous necklace scene wasn't actually planned. Julia wasn't feeling well so to make her laugh, Richard shut the case and her reaction was so perfect they kept it in the movie.

18. Julia prepared for her role as Vivian by spending two weeks at a free clinic on Hollywood Boulevard.

19. Originally, Vivian was supposed to be addicted to cocaine and part of the deal is that she isn't allowed to do drugs during the week. Also, at the end of the movie, Vivian was supposed to find Kit had overdosed on drugs while she was with Edward.

20. Richard Gere was actually playing the piano in the movie and he was playing a piece that he composed himself.

21. Garry Marshall's son directed the entire polo match scene in the movie.

 22. During the sex scene, Julia was so nervous that a vein popped out of her forehead. Garry Marshall got into bed with her and Richard and rubbed the vein on her head until it disappeared.

23. When they filmed the scene with Julia talking about wanting to be a princess who's rescued from a tower, they still hadn't written the movie's ending where Edward "rescues" Vivian.

N25 BILLION FRAUD: IGBINEDION AND OTHER WILL KNOW FATE IN JANUARY 30TH,2015

Find below EFCC press release:

Federal High Court sitting in Benin, Edo State yesterday reserved ruling in the N25billion money laundering and abuse of office charge brought against Micheal Igbinedion and Charles Eboigbodin by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for January 30, 2015.

Justice J. Liman on Friday November 14, 2014, fixed the January 30 date for judgement after the adoption of written addresses by counsel: Rotimi Jacob SAN for the prosecution and Mike Ozekhome SAN, Ricky Tafa SAN and Barr. Richard O. Ahonaruogo for the accused persons

The accused persons along with their companies: Gava Corporation Limited; Romrig Nigeria Limited; PML Securities Company Limited and PML Nigeria Limited, were arraigned by the anti- graft agency on a 81-count charge bothering on Money Laundering, Misappropriation of funds, conspiracy and Abuse of office.

While addressing the court, Jacobs hinged his submission on the testimonies of prosecution witnesses which, according to him, corroborated the charge, with emphasis on the several public funds deposited into private accounts, and how government funds were used to repay loans collected by former governor Lucky Igbinedion while he was in office.

Jacobs then prayed the court to "accept the prosecution’s case as presented and convict the accused persons as charged".

But before closing his address, the prosecuting counsel called the attention of the court to the inability of the bailiff to serve the summon earlier issued by it on the former Edo State governor, who failed to present himself in court, after the Appeal Court decision in April, asking him to return to the High Court for trial.

Jacobs disclosed that all efforts by the bailiff to serve Lucky Igbinedion with the summon, met a brick wall as  he was always turned back from the gate by security men who told him on all occasions that Igbinedion was out of town.

The EFCC counsel then prayed the court to permit a substituted service of the summon on the last known address of Igbinedion.
"May I apply that the first accused person be served by allowing the prosecution paste the notice at the known address,” he said.

But Justice Liman advised the prosecuting counsel to make an application. According to him, "the summon has expired, you can reapply or ask for a substituted service as there are other means of service. Prosecution must make another application."

STATE OF THE NATION: THINGS ARE NOT RIGHT WITH NIGERIA...CATHOLIC PRIESTS SAYS

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, a body of Nigerian Catholic priest, paid a courtesy visit to President Goodluck  Jonathan yesterday at the State House to express concern over  the state of the nation

Bishop Ignatius Kaigama, president Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria and Archbishop of Jos diocese who spoke with newsmen after their closed door meeting with Mr. President said:

"We feel that things are not right. Territorially, our land is being taken away; the people we look after are displaced, their homes, their villages and towns are captured and they are internally displaced, being refugees in their own land.

We thought this is not right. We have families that are just stranded. We thought that the President should know. As Catholics, we have laid a good structure for relief and taking care of such situation, we want the government to collaborate with us. We just wanted to remind him of things he already knows, there was nothing we said that was new, we just wanted to lay emphasis and we wanted him to know we are concerned. The President is already doing his bit; he has assured us that he is on top of the situation"

Bishop Kaigama argued that although muslims have also been killed during the various attacks, the primary aim of Boko Haram is to wipe out Christianity and islamiatize Nigeria
"When we admit that some Muslims are also targeted, we want to believe that the principal aim and concern of Boko Haram is to eliminate Christianity and pave the way for total Islamization of the country" he said

POLICE CARRY POLICE AS MUGU: DISMISSED OFFICER EARNED SALARIES FROM 15 DIFFERENT COMMANDS !

Nigerian police always makes me laugh! How come would a dismissed police officer a stole N20 million meant for salaries of officers of the Enugu State Police Command at the same time earned salaries from 15 difference police commands?

Ok this is the story: The Inspector-General of Police, Suileiman Abba, told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos that:

‘Victor Afam Banor was dismissed while serving at the Umunede Police Division in Delta State for allegedly stealing an exhibit vehicle in a criminal case under investigation. Victor, also earned salaries from 15 difference police commands. He also allegedly stole N20 million meant for salaries of officers of the Enugu State Police Command.

IGP,went further to say that, he later escaped from detention and resurfaced at the Enugu Command with a falsified signature, claiming to still be a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

When the officer-in-charge (O/C) of the command’s Mechanised Salary Section (MSS) retired, Banor assumed office as the “O/C MSS.”
It was while holding this position that he allegedly absconded with the money in March 2011.

“While absconding from office, the applicant (Banor) dropped a note stating that nobody should look for him because he has resigned to join his militant groups at the creeks of the Niger Delta region”, Abba said.

These were contained in a counter-affidavit filed in opposition to an application by Banor, praying the court to release him from police detention.
The applicant said he had been held for over eight months without charge, and prayed the court presided over by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, to either order his release or direct the police to charge him to court.

Banor said his continued detention violated his fundamental rights as guaranteed in 1999 Constitution.
He joined the IGP, the Commissioner of Police, Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos, and the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), DSP Solomon Igwe, as respondents.

In the counter-affidavit filed on Tuesday by the Officer-in-Charge of the Legal Department (O/C Legal), Zone 2, Mr. Justin Enang, the police urged the court not to release Banor because investigation into his alleged crime is still ongoing.

The police said several officers under Banor complained that their salaries were diverted, and that he did not turn up until he was arrested in Onitsha, Anambra State on April 15.

GRAPHIC PICTURE: SELLER KILLS BUYER 'OVER UNDER-PRICING' @ ALABA MARKET

Lawrence Ikonne , a trader at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos  has been arrested for allegedly killing a buyer, Isa Yaya over the negotiation  price of his second hand air conditioner.

According to report during interrogation, the suspect said:

“I had not met the young man before. I met him that morning at the Alaba market, and asked him to buy one of my appliances: an air conditioner. He actually looked like a cart pusher. When we got home, we both went in to remove the product, and we brought it outside for negotiation. As we continued, he said he would pay less than N5, 000. I replied that he should assist me to return it to where we took it from, but he refused. In the process, we started fighting. He even asked me to pay him for helping me bring it out. I was mad, and I hit his belly with a plank. When I realised he had fainted, I tied him with a rope and dragged him into a corner. I also fled the house.”

It was one of Ikonne’s co-tenants who noticed Yaya’s tied up corpse, raised an alarm, and reported the case to the Okokomaiko police station.
