CRIME: POLICE CORPORAL BEATEN TO DEATH IN EDO STATE...
Residents of Uwa
Street by First East Circular Road Junction, Benin City, Edo State, were thrown
into pandemonium as Police Corporal, Osas Agbonmwenma , was beaten to death by
a middle-aged driver in Benin City on Teusday.
The corporal met his death when a police patrol team car had stopped the driver who was driving a vehicle without a number plate but he refused to stop and in an attempt to force him to obey them, the deceased and his colleagues had engaged the driver in a fight.
As the fight raged on, the driver was said to have grabbed Osas tightly by the neck. Other policemen tried to help free their colleague from the tight grip but this proved abortive as the driver refused to let go but held on till the corporal passed out.
Meanwhile, another version of the story revealed that the policemen had succeeded in arresting the driver and as he was being taken to the police station, he diverted the vehicle to a different place. The Corporal attempted to forcefully stop him around St. Maria Goretti Grammar School area where the driver allegedly hit him on the forehead with an object.
He was said to have collapsed and later rushed to a hospital where he died.
Before his untimely death, Osas was serving at St. Saviour Police Division, Benin.
Confirming the incident, the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Noble Uwoh, said the driver has been arrested while the car was in police custody.

SIGN OF POVERTY: MAN ALLEGEDLY KILLING HIS BROTHER OVER 'OWOH' SOUP IN EDO STATE
Sunday Osemwekhe,
57, has been arrested by police in Benin, Edo state,for allegedly killing his
half-brother with machete over ‘owoh’ soup.
The suspect
reportedly committed the crime at Evboesi community in Orhionmwon local
government area of the
state, during an argument with the victim over ‘owoh’ soup, a delicacy for eating
yam, plantain and wheat peculiar to Edo state.
Sunday who
confessed to the crime when he was paraded by the state commissioner of police, Mr.
Foluso Adebanjo, said the deceased (younger sibling), took from his owoh
without his permission.
The argument
reportedly degenerated into fracas, following which he cut off the victim’s
hand with a machete.The victim allegedly died few days after from injuries he
sustained from the machete.
Adebanjo
disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court at the conclusion of
investigation

MEN WITH THEIR EVILS: MAN'S HEAD FOUND IN EBUTE META AND HIS BODY IN SURULERE !!!
The Police in
Lagos State have recovered the mutilated remains of a man, identified only as
Christmas, which were dumped at two different areas of the state; the victim’s
head was found at Olokodana junction in the Ebute Meta East, while his body was
recovered in Alaka, Surulere, on Wednesday!
It was gathered
that two factions of hoodlums in Ebute Meta – Oto and Olokodana gangs – had
since 2010, engaged one another in supremacy battle, which had allegedly
claimed no fewer than 20 lives. On Friday, January 9, the killing of one Waheed
Yusuf (aka Skippo) said to be the leader of the Olokodana gang. He was
allegedly killed in his house on Fagbayimu Street, Olokodana, Old Apapa Road,
by some unknown gunmen.
A resident in the
area, Tunde Adeniyi, said, Christmas, who used to belong to the Olokodana gang,
had abandoned the gang and was planning to leave the neighbourhood on Wednesday
before he was killed.
He said, “I saw
him packing his luggage on Tuesday. He said he was no longer interested in the
clashes, adding that most of the top men in his (Olokodana) group were dead.
“He even said the
motive of the rivalry was baseless, so he would rather quit and leave the
community. I was surprised when I saw his head this morning. His body was later
found in Surulere by the police.”
An eyewitness,
who gave his name simply as Kola, said ; “SARS came here late evening on Monday
and raided everywhere. They recovered guns and arrested some hoodlums,
including a lady,” he said.
The Lagos State
Police spokesperson, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the recovery of the head in
Ebute Meta. He, however, said he had not been briefed on the recovery of the
victim’s body.
He said, “A
bodiless head belonging to a yet-to-be-identified male was recovered at
Olokodana junction, Ebute Meta, by policemen from the Iponri Division acting on a tip-off.
“The head has
been deposited at the Yaba General Hospital morgue, while investigations aimed
at unravelling and apprehending the characters behind the act have been
activated.
“Members of the
public are enjoined to avail us information that will aid diligent
investigation. I have not got any information on the recovery of his body in
Surulere.”
