MEDIA ARE AGAINST OUR (JONATHAN) GOVERNMENT....DOYI OKUPE

Doyin Okupe while speaking as a guest on a current affairs programme on STV this afternoon said, the present government doesn't not have the backing of the media. According to source, Okupe stated this while responding to a question on why the president's media team focus more on talking about the opposition than the achievements of the government .Excerpt of the interview below......

"That is not correct. This government has built 38 dams. I did a program me called four impactful years. They were shown on television. We are not deceiving people. If I tell you we have 24 airport in Nigeria, are they not verifiable? I can tell you all the airports have been remodeled. Fact. Go to anywhere. Wherever you want to go. They have been remodeled. If I tell you that the Benin-ore road used to be a death trap. People used to spend 24 hours on the road, today day spend three hours. If I tell you the Lagos-Ibadan express road was built in 1976  or something like that and from that time or more than 30 years nobody did anything. It is ...If people deliberately refuse to see and the media find a way to underplay the achievements, we will keep trying, we will keep trying. Our God will justify us. We don't have the media behind us but we have God behind us"he said.
Asked how the media can be captured by the opposition when they are the ones in government, Okupe said

"Its not like the opposition took over the media. The elements within the opposition and the sentiments concerning the opposition had dominated the media prior to this event of Jonathan coming into power. Tell me which media organization in Nigeria where you can say that the government owns. Government doesn't own any media. but the opposition has tremendous influence in the media. Its unarguable. I don't want to go beyond that" he said

WEIRD WORLD: WOMAN DECIDED TO MARRY HERSELF AS NO MAN PROPOSED TO HER @ 40

Weird world, Yasmin Eleby from Houston, Texas promised herself when she was much younger that if she hit 40 and wasn't married, she would marry herself.  That was exactly what she did when she hit 40 recently and wasn't married and didn't even have a man! She kept her promise.....Yasmin threw herself a full wedding, complete with a candlelit ceremony.

She had her mum walk her down the aisle, and had her sister who is a minster; help her say vows, in a spiritual ceremony - because you can't legally marry yourself in America. Her other three sisters were her bridesmaid and her friends attended. The wedding took place at Huston Museum of African American Culture (HMAAC), on Saturday, January 3, 2015. HOROR: MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS FATHER CASTRATES HIMSELF IN LAGOS !!!

Oluwaropo Tifase, the university dropout who was accused of killing his 75-year-old father, Moses, in the Jakande Estate, Mile 2 area of Lagos State, (read here) has removed his testicles while in the custody of the police.

Twenty-two-year-old Oluwaropo, during a chat with punch correspondent at the Lagos Island General Hospital, where he was rushed to for treatment, said he acted under the influence of a spirit which possessed him at the time.

However, he was said to have used the tiles of the cell to remove his two testicules.

The police at the SCID were said to have rushed him to the Lagos Island General Hospital on Tuesday when the incident happened.

He said, “I got frustrated with my life while in the cell because I was alone and was abandoned there. I didn’t see outside of the cell for a long time.

“A spirit entered into me and said I should do it. So I castrated myself. I removed the two testicles myself.”

Asked if he didn’t feel pains while removing the testicles, he replied, “I did.”

He was asked if he was a cultist, and why he was rusticated from school.

He said, “I am not a cultist and I didn’t kill my dad. It is my mother that keeps telling people that I am a cultist.

“I studied industrial design in school, but I didn’t like the course, so I voluntarily dropped out of school because I discovered my love computer. I love programming, so, I decided to leave school on my own and pursue my love.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident.

He said, “Yes it happened. He broke the tiles in the cell toilet and used them to cut his testicles. As we speak, he is in the hospital undergoing treatment.”

A MUST READ: MESSAGE FROM MUHAMMADU BUHARI THIS MORNING TO NIGERIANS

Good morning, my friends. As we continue our relentless pace campaigning for ‪#‎Changethis week, let’s reflect on the past few weeks -GMB I have become seriously disturbed by the volume of falsehood and desperation from the opposition campaign of the PDP. I clearly underrated the panic and lack of integrity that leads people to tell barefaced lies, and must confess, it continues to confound me. I have run for office before, but I have consistently done so without desperation or anger, because elections are not war. Why should candidates tell so many frantic lies in order to win elections, if truly their purpose is to ‘transform’ the lives of our people? It is a tragedy to see the ruling party focus on pettiness and lies; rumours of cancer, foreign treatment, and certificates they know exist.

Hundreds, perhaps thousands of Nigerians died in ‪#‎Baga days ago. Our unemployment numbers are rising. The businesses of our enterprising youth are being killed by lack of access to finance and poor economic policies. This campaign should be about those issues. It should be about today and the future; about securing Nigerian lives and Nigerian land. The desperation is beyond my understanding. ‪#‎ThingsMustChange What is this obsession with lies? What is this obsession with pettiness? What is this obsession with threats and attacks? All of us, citizens and voters need to ask ourselves – why is our President so desperate? How can the President of this country be talking about remembering phone numbers and coup speeches?

How can his campaign be talking about dead ex-leaders, jogging around the stadium and outright lies about my health? How can a President who has led this country for six years be unable to run on his own record and his achievements? Where is his fabled calm, where is his reserve, where is his composure? Why is he so ruffled? Why is he so frustrated and afraid? We should be deeply worried that a President who called for calm during governorship elections has now lost his cool in his own elections. Our President and his allies must remember that he is not only a candidate for office; he is the President of Nigeria. We do not have a disinformation or propaganda wing in our campaign. We have no need to waste time in driving petty attacks. We have not spoken about the President's family, his health, his religion, his ethnic group, or his phone number. We are concerned only about his record – has he secured Nigeria?

Has he fought corruption? Has he truly grown the economy so it can work? Do our children find it easy to get jobs? Do our sisters and brothers find it easy to set up and sustain their businesses? Can our president keep us safe when we travel to any part of this country? Is your life better today than it was six years ago? We have only presented our record – how we fought insurgencies, how we stabilized the Naira, how we tackled corruption. We have presented our vision and plans – through our manifesto (available on http://www.thisisbuhari.com ) and our town hall meetings. We are lucky to have in this election two people who have led this country. I am proud to present our record of solutions and effectiveness. Imagine the accelerated growth we can now achieve in a democracy –which the world has seen to be the most effective way of governing nations. Let us focus on those issues, please. Elections are not war. February 14 is not about politicians. It is about our country.

I am appealing to you: the damage to this country is great. The level of unemployment and insecurity is intolerable, worsened by corruption. Therefore, I shall refuse to indulge the smear campaign. I refuse to allow them take away the focus from the issues that concern you. We insist on a campaign of hope, change and the future. This election is about big, important issues. We refuse to play it small. Join us as we continue the relentless pace of our rallies in Minna and Kaduna today. #Change is finally here, my friends. - GMB ‪#‎CountdownToChange ‪#‎GMB15

HISTORY: CHURCH OF ENGLAND CONSECRATED 'LIBBY LANE' AS FIRST FEMALE BISHOP

The Church of England has consecrated its first female bishop during a ceremony at York Minster.
The Reverend Libby Lane, 48, has been ordained as the new Bishop of Stockport in front of more than 1,000 people.

The Church formally adopted legislation last November to allow women bishops, in a move which ended a centuries-old tradition of exclusively male bishops.

Mrs Lane had said the consecration would be a very "emotional" moment.
She said: "It is a remarkable thing that this happens to me, and people have been very supportive of me personally, but actually this is about a moment in the Church's history."

Congratulations.

CRIME:COUPLE LEADS GANG TO ROB NEIGHBOURS IN OGUN STATE !!!

the couple’s rented apartment
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a gang of armed robbers, including a couple Amache and Seun Augustine with two accomplices Taiwo Dada and Ezekiel Alawode who allegedly went to rob in an estate at Abule Lemode in the Ijoko area of the state.

The suspects, who were in possession of a locally-made pistol, were first apprehended at about 9.30pm on Saturday, January 17.by the members of the local vigilance groupbefore they were handed over to the Agbado Police Division, Ayinla, on Sunday.

One of the victims, Mr. Rasheed Akinwande, said the robbers stole cash and recharge cards from his house.
He said, “It was at about 9pm when they got to my apartment. They were two men and two women Amache and his wife with another man and woman. But the couple did not come inside my house. Instead, two strange faces, who wore black jackets and jean, broke through my windows, and pointed a gun at me.

“They asked everyone to lie down, and they collected money about N6,000 that they found in the house. They demanded more, and they even packed the recharge cards which my wife was selling. Few minutes later, we began to hear gunshots in the environment. The robbers fled. But the local vigilance group apprehended them eventually.”

Stephen Adesoji, the General Secretary of the estate’s community development association said :“Two of the suspects were a husband and wife, and they live with us in the estate. They invited two others to perpetrate the crime. It was the security man they connived with who later alerted us that robbery was going on, and we informed the vigilance group.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest. He said, “The suspects are now at the SCID where further investigation is ongoing.”
