CRIME: MOTHER CONNIVES WITH A DOCTOR TO SELL HIS SON FOR N150K IN UYO

 A mother, Esther Johnny, in-conjunction with a doctor connived to sell her baby boy, David Jonny, to a woman in Abuja for the sum of N150, 000!!!

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Akwa Ibom State, Mike Okoli, said this in Uyo, on Tuesday.

The CP said, “The police in Akwa Ibom State have rescued a baby boy, David Johnny, who was stolen when he was three-day-old and handed over to a doctor in Port Harcourt. The baby was subsequently taken to Abuja.

“When we found the doctor, he refused to cooperate as he tried to frustrate the efforts of the police in investigating the case of the stolen boy.

“My officers in the trafficking department moved from Uyo to Port Harcourt, Umuahia, and Aba in search of the stolen child.

“It was not until Wednesday, April 22, when the pressure became so much, that the woman who had bought the child, took the child back to the clinic in Port Harcourt, where she bought him, and abandoned him there,” he said.

According to him it was the phone call the woman, who had bought the child, made to the doctor who was in the police custody in Uyo that enabled them to trace the baby to the hospital.

He said, “The biological mother sold the child through the doctor to the woman for N300,000.”

Esther, 18, said David was her third baby and she could not take care of all of her children.

SAD: COUPLE ABANDON THEIR 4-YEAR OLD METALLY-CHALLENGED IN HOSPITAL

The social welfare department of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, has reported a case of abandoned a 4-year old baby at their premises to the police.

The couple, in a note found on the child, claimed they were no longer able to care for the child.

According to witnesses, said the couple came to the hospital in the morning with the child under the pretext of coming for treatment. They then headed straight to the physiotherapy department at the administrative block of the hospital, hours later, at about 12.20pm, hospital staff noticed the child was without her parents.

A search in her pockets revealed a note stating that the parents were unable to care for the mentally-challenged child.

When contacted, the medical director of the hospital, Oladapo Sotiloye, confirmed the incident.

He explained that the management had reported the case to the police, while arrangements were ongoing to transfer the girl to the state government-owned Stella Obasanjo Motherless Home.

A NIGERIAN MAN GETS 6-MONTH SUSPEND SENTENCE FOR STEALING MOBILE PHONES

Oloruntoba Adisa, 27, a Nigeria,who worked as a bouncer in clubs in the UK has been arraigned before a UK court for stealing phones from clients who came to the club where he worked.

Oloruntoba has a history with the UK law enforcement officers with crimes bordering on stealing phones and money from some club goers. Few months ago, Oloruntoba was caught on CCTV stealing a Samsung S3 and £90 from a woman who had come clubbing. He hid the items in his coat and a search carried out by the club management showed he had 2 iphones stolen from other customers hidden in his coat.

Also, he reportedly stole a man's phone and called the man afterwards demanding for £150 in exchange for his phone. He was convicted in 2005 for stealing from his employee. Police believe Oloruntoba had sold over 300 phones on online market, Gumtree.


Giving him six-months jail, suspended for a year, with 40 hours unpaid work, and an order to pay £500 compensation to his latest victim, Judge Hernandez told him: “I hadn’t thought I’d be seeing you again. But here you are, standing in the dock in relation to another offence of theft of a mobile phone".
