COURT SENTENCES VICE-PRINCIPAL TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPING 12-YEAR OLD PUPIL IN EKITI STATE

An Ekiti state High Court has sentenced a former Vice Principal of St. Mary’s Girls Grammar School, Ikole-Ekiti, Taiwo Ajayi, to life in jail for raping a 12-year-old student (name withheld) of the school. According to the prosecution counsel, Ajayi who was the school's Vice Principal(Academics), committed the crime on March 18th 2014.

Ajayi lured the girl into his office, locked the door from behind and raped her on his office table while covering her mouth with a cloth so that she would not attract anyone while she screamed. One of the teachers knocked ON the door but the convict refused to open the door and threatened her not to tell anybody.

He was caught after two teachers who suspected foul play forced their way into his office. The case was reported to the police and he was arrested.

Delivering judgement. Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde, found Ajayi guilty of raping a minor contrary to Section 31(2) of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State 2012. She held that the prosecution team led by Mr. A.E. Arogundade of the Ministry of Justice, had provided enough evidence to prove him guilty of the crime.  Ajayi was first arraigned in court on October 14, 2016, and he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Abodunde rejected the convict’s counsel plea for leniency on grounds that he was a first-time offender, father and breadwinner of an aged mother.
“The cases of child defilement has been on the increase lately and to serve as a deterrent to others, my view is that the punishment stipulated by the lawmakers was deliberate to deter the offence and protect the right to dignity of the child. The defence counsel is pleading for leniency and praying for fine instead of the due punishment. My question is: who pays the victim for the lifetime scar of the trauma and torture of rape. I am unable to deviate from the provisions of the law in this instant. The defendant is found guilty as charged and sentenced to life imprisonment.”
Exhibits tendered included a medical report, statement of the accused, report of the panels set up by the school authorities and Teaching Service Commission, medical report from the police clinic and statement of the victim, among others.

SEX SCANDAL UPDATE: OGUN STATE COLLEGE OF TECH. SUSPENDS RANDY LECTURER INDEFINITELY

Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, has suspended a lecturer, Dr Seyi Adu, for impregnating a nursing student of the college.

It was gathered that Seyi’s (Read the story here) suspension for allegedly having sex in a hotel sometime in August 2016 with a nursing student of the school, Mosunmola, was posted on a notice board at the administration block of the college, where the academic community was asked not to have any dealings with him.

The married father of two, who agreed to pay Mosunmola a monthly stipend of N5,000 in addition to N7,000 for her ante-natal registration, reneged on their agreement after Mosunmola presented a list of items required for her delivery, which she valued at N50,000.

According to PUNCH, Adu was said to have refused the payment, claiming she wanted to turn him to a cash-cow. Mosunmola was later delivered of a baby boy at the General Hospital, Epe.

Confirming the incident, the college spokesperson, Ayodele Alaga said;

‘It is true. The suspension is indefinite. We have severed relationship with him. He was an adjunct lecturer. We will await the final outcome of the investigation by the ministry of health.”

'OMO BABA OLOWO' FACTOR: HOW A LAGOS SCHOOL ALLEGEDLY COVERS UP A BOY WHO TRIED KILLING HIS CLASSMATE WITH ACID !

A Junior Secondary School pupil  of the Lekki British International School, Lekki, Lagos, who was supposedly expelled for allegedly putting sulphuric acid and ethanol in the water bottle of his classmate might not have really been expelled, according to the victims aunt.

The 12-year-old was allegedly envious of the 11-year-old female classmate, who had beaten him to the first position in the first and second terms. The incident happened around 1.30pm on Wednesday, June 14.

The school was planning for the third term exam when the 12-year-old allegedly sneaked into the school’s laboratory and stole the acid and ethanol, it was gathered .

He was said to have mixed the chemicals and poured them into the 11-year-old’s water bottle. Two pupils of the school reportedly caught him in the act and reported to the school management.

The suspect allegedly owned up to the crime, saying he had been planning it for sometime.

A member of the 11-year-old’s family said on Wednesday that despite the culprit’s confession, the school allowed him to sit for the third term examination.

When contacted the school management, an official, who did not identify herself, said the pupil had been expelled.

She said;
“The boy has been expelled with immediate effect. The girl is in school and she is fine. We have zero tolerance for such misbehaviour.”

But according to the victim’s aunt, the boy wasn’t expelled, the school is threatening her niece and trying to cover up for the boy. Read the post as shared by former NANS correspondent, Abimbola Ololade Oligbinde.

Did you read about a 12 year old child who wanted to kill his classmate with acid because she became a competition for him?
Well, I thought it happened in the US but I was wrong. It happened in Lekki British International School here in Lagos.
Here is an update from the victim’s aunt. Sadly, the school is protecting the potential murderer and threatening the victim.

Please read:

“Hmmm…good morning parents..I will come back on this matter of the 12year old who attempted to kill his classmate with a broader perspective..deeper than this parent just analysed. The child in question is my niece…been following the trend of events since the incident precisely on Wednesday 14th June 2017 at about 1.30pm. It will amaze you that the school in question still has the boy in school…no mental case assessment, he was allowed to write the very same exams he had tactfully planned on executing his classmate for so dat she doesn’t take the first position again , sitting right in the same classroom! He had stolen from the lab sulphuric acid and ethanol and mixed both into the girl’s water bottle for her to drink after lunch. When asked, he said he had been planning this since second term..his first plot had been to put feces gradually on a daily basis into her screwed bottle juice that she usually came to school with. But with God’s invention, on his first day of that plot, she didn’t come to school with that screw top juice..so he changed the plan.

After this incidence..upon enquiry, the girl’s mother was told that he was to resume a mere one week suspension next week after exams are over on Friday which is tomorrow..she insisted that the punishment would only have reinforced the boy…as they should have started from expulsion and maybe work it down to a term’s suspension after proper evaluation of d boy’s mental state(if the school still thought it was necessary to retain such an evil mind in the school that is). However, to her greatest shock..the owner of the school cornered her daughter to coerce her to write a false statement that she provoked the boy to such an evil act!!!! How evil can one get?!!!!

That the boy looked really innocent..so hence the victim as always in Nigeria has become the culprit! Simply because she still wants to count her money in millions as school fees???!!!! What more does a pupil have to do to get expelled from such a prestigious school or any school at all?
Should a murder have to take place first? If he actually had succeeded in his carefully calculated plans..of which he had a list of other intelligent kids he planned to kill after he succeeds in dis one! A set of parents would have been left without their very brilliant daughter had God not rescued the situation through the intervention of the two boys that caught him in the act. And such a child is still walking d school as I speak to you boldly whilst the victim can no longer drink anything in d school for fear of being poisoned.

To correct the view of the initial writer..and this only makes it worse..the kids are in Js1!! The girl joined them after a few weeks in first term..so he had only been opportune to have a glimpse of the first place in the continuous assessment tests before she came along and made first place first and second term in a row, hence this plot to kill her before third term exams begins.
One would think that the school authorities will be very concerned about what is going on in the mind of this child and immediately remand him to psychological and psychiatric help! But alas the parent of the victim is being accused by the school management of wanting to destroy the life of the boy by asking that he be expelled and made to write an apology.
An apology came after one week of the incidence after it was vehemently demanded for. I am appalled at the rot and decay of any form of value system that has exhumed from one of Nigeria’s supposed best schools..Lekki British International School.”

Here is an update from from the case this morning;

Update on the acid poisoning matter , the school authority said they had expelled the boy but the family of the girl insist that the boy was still in school as at the time they broke the news.
According to the aunt, the little girl was coerced to write a false statement and the school owner asked the girl and her mum to get out of her school.

This expulsion story , according to the aunt is damage control done by the school after the story went viral.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:"BATTERY IS THE ONLY LANGUAGE MY WIFE UNDERSTANDS"~~HUSBAND

A photojournalist accused of beating his wife to a pulp said on Tuesday battery was the only language the woman understands.

Francis Abiagan, an employee of Business Day Newspaper, said his wife of 10 years, Joy, had made life difficult for him since he brought his sick mother to their Ifo, Ogun State, residence.

A group, Campaign Against Impunity and Domestic Violence had accused Abiagan of beating and stripping naked his wife.

In a statement signed by the group’s spokesman, Gbenga Soloki, the photojournalist was accused of inflicting injuries on the woman, boasting that nothing could happen to him.

According to Soloki, Abiagan had been assaulting his wife for a long time, with the couple’s family intervening to broker peace whenever they quarreled.

Abiagan, who admitted on telephone that he beat up his wife, said;

“I have been married for 10 years now. My mother had stroke and no one was available to take care of her. I brought my mother to the house and since then, it has been war.

My wife hates my mother with passion. My sin is that I accommodated all her siblings and they have turned my life into a nightmare.

“My wife has been devising means to deal with my mother. She starved my mother to the extent that I hired a help, who cooks for her.

My wife was seen dragging my mother on the ground, calling her a witch. I have been enduring it but I could not bear this last one she did to my mother.

“My wife threatened the cook I hired not to come. The church has organised several meetings for us. They begged her to change but she refused. It is the language she understands I gave to her.”

HOW CAREER FRAUDSTER 'PRINCEWILL EZE aka SENATOR NWOBODO DIED IN PRISON

Princewill Arinze Eze aka  Senator Nwobodo (1st from Left)
Mr Princewill Arinze Eze aka  Senator Nwobodo, is a man many Nigerians will not forget in a hurry.
Eze, from Imo State, married with five kids; four sons and a daughter had often described himself as a businessman. He would be later alleged by police to be a ‘career suspected criminal.’

He had been arrested at least four times for different times, by different security agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). But like a cat with nine lives, Eze had always managed to land back on his feet.

The last law enforcement agency to grab him, leading to his becoming a guest at the Maximum prison, was the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command. He was arrested on February 26, 2015.
He was alleged of many crimes, among which was wearing of EFCC reflective vests to rob, steal and dupe unsuspecting Nigerians. His major targets were operators of Bureau De Change.
Eze, 55, was arrested along with Amira Abdallahi 32, Daniel Okpara 30, Paul Irior 37, Bassey Williams Ekpenyoung 39 and Royal Nwabuike 32.

He was said to have been arrested several times for robbery, but he always seemed seem to have a penchant for escaping convictions, earning him the nickname, ‘cat with nine lives.’
Police said: “The suspect goes about in a tinted car, fitted with a radio base, where police radio messages are intercepted. The car also has siren which blared whenever Eze was on the move. He uses EFCC uniforms, handcuffs and guns to rob Bureau De Change operators in Abuja and Lagos State of foreign currencies.

“Recovered from the suspects are; Bryco 59 pistol with serial no. 930945 with six rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition, single barrel pistol cut to size with four live cartridges, and three Toyota Highlander jeeps. The first is ash colour, marked LSR11DB. The second is maroon colour marked LSR 671DK, another maroon colour marked KTU 380DK. Police also recovered a Toyota Sienna 2012 model, marked JJJ424CQ, Toyota 4 Runner, marked KRD 449DG, one Toyota Camry Saloon car unregistered, N4 million cash and some foreign currencies.”

Eze was arrested after Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Abba Kyari, tracked him to his home at VGC Ajah.

Chatting with journalists back then, Eze said: “I have been into this business for quite some time now. I was arrested four years ago by SARS operatives and charged to court over similar issues. I have been arraigned in courts over seven times but since there wasn’t any prosecutor and paper to prosecute me on the cases, I was bailed and told to go.”

Eze had earlier been arrested in 2014 by the EFCC for fraud. On February 20, 2014, three gunmen in police uniform snatched Eze, from a prison warder at the Igbosere area of Lagos State, while being taken to court.
Eze was charged to court by EFCC for obtaining $ 92,000 under false pretence.

After his arrest by SARS, before he was charged to court, he claimed that he paid EFCC and prison warders N10million each, to snatch him on the way to the Igbosere court.

While in SARS custody, Eze said: “I’ll never come back to SARS office again in Jesus name!”

And that is what exactly happened. Eze, who had been standing trial over alleged robbery and kidnapping died in Maximum Prison last week Tuesday. He wouldn’t be going anywhere again.

A source said: “He died of diabetes. His family is alleging poor medical treatment. He died within three days after he took ill. The family went to prison, demanding to take his corpse for burial, but the prisons authority refused. They said it belonged to government. Before he died, he said that he regretted his action and that God should forgive him and his gang members who were still at large.

“He said his gang members should stop crime because it doesn’t pay. He said everything he had, he had lost. He said that even if he came out from prison, he would be coming out with nothing. Then he died.”

According to the source, Eze’s trial had been going on at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, under Justice…

In his last courting, Eze and one of his victims were said to have enacted a mild drama in the court. Eze had denied defrauding the victim and the victim, angry laid a curse on him.

“The said let me see if you would use your leg to walk back to this court in the next hearing if you didn’t defraud me,” said a source.

It was also gathered that Eze changed series of lawyers, claiming that he could defend himself in court. One of the lawyers he changed is Mr Deji Rowland.

Recalling his encounter with Eze, Rowland said: “What happened was that he briefed us; we gave him our bill. He paid part of the bill. We didn’t know he had other cases in court.”
He said that Eze briefed them on his others cases and even though they were not conversant with it, they tried do their best. Rowland said they represented him, even though he didn’t pay for those cases.

Rowland said: “At a time, he just stood up and said he was capable of representing himself. He said it in the open court. I was even signaling to him to be mindful of what he was saying. The judge said that if the defendant had disengaged us and could represent him, then that what we should do. We backed out; we pursued the first case until it got to Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). The DPP advice came; he had a case to answer in other matters. That was how he started sending threat messages to me; he said that I should refund money the money he paid us.”
According to the Nigerian Prisons Service spokesman, Francis Enobore, Eze died last week.
He said: “He took ill and was taken to the prison’s hospital. When they discovered his situation was getting serious, they moved to Naval Hospital in Ojo. We maintain a very good working relationship with government hospitals. Whenever we discovered an inmate is ill and our medical facility can’t cope, we move such inmates. It was at the naval hospital that he gave up. The doctor there diagnosed diabetes mellitus type 2 and renal failure. These are serious ailments.”
