" I AM NEITHER A SAINT NOR AN ANGEL" ~~ CARDINAL OLUBUNMI OKOGIE

Rtd Catholic Archbishop of Lagos and former President of the CAN, Anthony Cardinal Okogie, 81, in an interview with The Punch, had to say when asked about temptation;

“This question of yours is one of my temptations ( laughs ). Look at the length women go to make their hair look attractive. Some make their hair like an osuka (a load-carrying pad). It is a waste of money fixing attachments. God gave us eyes; if you don ’t control them, they will control you. If you don`t control your senses, they will control you. Some women came around and started rolling their eyeballs to entice me. Some think they are not beautiful enough, so they apply eyelashes etc. No woman can entice me with that.
On how he resists temptation;

“I am neither a saint nor an angel. We are all human beings. I am only saying these are some of the things they do to draw and attract you. These days , some women even go about padding their breasts . This is absolute rubbish. When I see somebody I seem to like , I look for that part I don’t like and concentrate on that. You may think I am looking at you but I am not. No one is a saint. Only God is holy . Some people came to me to tempt me”

“One of them said “Father, I can’t understand my husband . I am feeling cold” I simply told her, “Why not warm your husband if you are cold. Say something that will enliven your husband” She replied, ‘Father, you don’t understand’ I asked her, ‘What do I not understand ? At my age , what do I not understand ?’ They use all these seductive words. It is not easy (resisting them) if you are not really fortified with prayers . God has been faithful
On how difficult it is to be celibate?

“It is not difficult . It ’s like breathing in air. Discipline is the key , like I said . I would have shared a few of the desperate attempts to tempt me but I won’t because of some reasons . Even when I preach my sermon , they come and challenge me in Yoruba , E de lo soro mi ni church . Mo gbo leni . ( Why did you mention my case while preaching today ?) It is not so easy . But once you can draw the line , there is no problem .It is when you say yes to a particular thought that you have sinned “

PHOTOS: "WHY I JOINED THE POLICE FORCE"~~ NKEIRUKA NWODE

ASP Nkeiruka Nwode, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command is one of the new faces helping to give the Nigerian Police a new image. Nkeiruka who is the first female PPRO Anambra State Police Command - recently spoke with Anambra Broadcasting Service ABS on what motivates her and how she deals with all the attention. See below;

Handling the interest on her looks and dealing with the distractions.

It is amusing sometimes but instead of distracting me, it has always spurred me on because I believe it is my doggedness on the job that brought about the interest not beauty as some people allege after all I am not the only pretty officer or even the prettiest. As a PPRO, my forte lies in influencing positive comments about the police on social media.

Her reason for joining the police force

Having the interest of people at heart. My joining the Police was solely out of passion, as I had other job offers. Police job is service to humanity, and I want to make my contribution to my fatherland in that regard.

Life as a female police officer

Hmmmmm! It has been wonderful. I really enjoy this job and it has been my motivation to weather the storms of life though I will tell you it has not been easy since the profession is more of a man's world. It hasn't stopped me one bit and being a PPRO hasn't in any way changed my outlook on life but has given me opportunity to have better dealings with people. Today, I believe I am a better police officer than I was yesterday.

"IF YOU WANT TO SEE MY RED EYES, CALL ME MATHEW"~~OBJ

Ex-President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has stressed that he has dropped Mathew from his names, even though it made it to his birth names, and those calling him that should stop as he’s no tax-collector.

The former Nigerian President who disclosed this at an event organized in his honour by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) , said he dropped the name because of the Biblical character, Mathew, whom he was named after, was a tax collector.

“When I was born, my mother and father decided to name me Matthew. I grew up being called and addressed Matthew. What is the meaning of Matthew in the Bible? He was a tax collector,” he said.
“So, when I grew up, I dropped Matthew from my name. If anyone does not want to see my eyes red, no one should call me Matthew again. People ask, what is in a name? For me, there is so much in a name.”

“A doctor’s mistake often leads to the death of one patient,” he said.
“A lawyer’s mistake leads to the client going to jail. But if an engineer makes a mistake that leads to the collapse of a bridge or house, many people would lose their lives.
“That is why engineers must be very careful and must be efficient not to allow mistakes to be made.”
