MISPLACED PRIORITY: NO SINGLE VENTILATOR BUT NASARAWA BOUGHT N500MILLION CARS FOR LAWMAKERS

Nasarawa is among states without a ventilator to help in the fight against coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, but the state governor, Abdullahi Sule has bought 24 Toyota Hilux vehicles for state lawmakers, estimated at nearly N500 million.

Speaker of Nasarawa House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi, on Monday stated that Abdullahi gave the 24 Toyota Hilux to the lawmakers as official vehicles.

Cost of ventilator Findings reveal that a hospital-grade ventilator cost between $25,000 (N9.175m) and $50,000 (N18.350 m), using the Central Bank’s official exchange rate of N367 for a dollar. A ventilator is a machine that provides mechanical ventilation by moving breathable air into and out of the lungs, to deliver breaths to a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently. A respiratory expert who craved anonymity said Nigeria requires about 10,000 respirators for emergencies over the ongoing pandemic. Most of the ventilators already present in the country are in tertiary hospitals—federal medical centres and teaching hospital, he noted. He said ventilators were very important equipment, not only being used for supportive care of COVID-19 patients, but other respiratory illnesses, adding that it was important for all hospitals to have them. Nasawara has not reported any confirmed case of COVID-19 but it shares boundaries with Kaduna, Abuja, Kogi, Benue and Taraba. Abuja, Kaduna and Benue have 58, six and one confirmed cases respectively.

However, in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Tijjani Ahmed. “It is a tradition that the state government normally purchases official vehicles for newly-elected members to enable the legislators perform their oversight functions among other legislative activities effectively,” the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Abdualahi, said during the presentation.
The State commissioner for Information, Dogo Shammah added, “We have some area that have bad terrain in the state, that is why they were given Toyota Hilux for them to go back and meet the people of their constituencies and hear their complaints instead of going to them during elections only. “The ventilators have been ordered and we are expecting anytime soon,” the commissioner said.

EL-RUFAI SON THREATENED TO 'GANG-RAPE' MOTHER OF TWITTER USER LED TO A JOURNALIST SACK

Deputy Editor of Brittle Paper, Otosirieze Obi-Young, was recently sacked over an  article he wrote addressing Hadiza Elrufai's reaction when her son threatened to "pass" someone's mother around to his friends.

On Sunday, April 12, Bello El-Rufai, in a series of tweets, had threatened to "pass" the mother of another Twitter user to his friends after describing the woman as a "whore."

Bello wrote in a private message to the follower after they argued about politics: "Tell your mother I’m passing her to my friends toni

"No Igbo sounds please!" Bello El-Rufai added an ethnic attack, having thought the Twitter user was Igbo'

Twitter users were incensed by this and they tagged Bello's mother, Hadiza El-Rufai to tweets about her son's threat to gang rape someone's mother.

Hadiza El-Rufai responded: "All you people talking about @B_ELRUFAI Don’t @ me. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.
"All is fair in love and war. My belief: Respect everyone, but take no shit from anyone. I didn't see any threats of rape. I would never condone that."
Her response attracted criticisms from Nigerians who accused her of supporting her son's rape threats.
She later issued an apology, stating: "When I posted the tweet below, I assumed it was just the usual Twitter gbas-gbos. Having read the tweets chronologically, I have had conversations with Bello. Never ever should sexual abuse be employed as ammunition in public/private exchanges, no matter the provocation."

KEN SARO-WWA'S SON~~MENEGIAN DIES O COVID-19 IN UNITED KINGDOM

Menegian, one of the children of late Ogoni environmental activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa, has died of Coronavirus in a hospital in the United Kingdom.

His death was announced on Facebook by his sister, Noo, this afternoon. She wrote

''We said goodbye to my brother, Gian, on Monday. He had Covid-19 combined with underlying health conditions. Gian was the smartest and most talented out of all of us: a champion sprinter at school, a poet, an artist, budding engineer, a self-taught guitarist and pianist. But mental health issues limited his life from age 16 onwards.
I took this photo of him a few months ago before he was hospitalised. We were singing Hysteria by Def Leppard, a song we both love. Although the side-effects of medication altered his athletic physique, this photo still captures Gian’s essence: a kind and beautiful soul, always wanting the best for his family, always praying for our future success while being eternally optimistic about his own. And, of course, always loving his music. He leaves a wonderful son, Louis.
    (Menegian Saro-Wiwa, 1970-2020)''

He was 50 years old. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

FACTS ON WHY BLESSING OKAGBARE'S MARRIAGE CRASHED

Facts are beginning to emerge on why U.S.-based Nigerian sprinter and Olympic medalist, Blessing Oghenewreseme Okagbare’s marriage with former Super Eagles player, Jude Otegheri Ighoteghuonor crashed so early.

Okagbare and Ighoteghuonor’ marriage was well celebrated in Sapele, Delta State in 2014 shortly after the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where she emerged as double sprint champion.

However, six years after they tied the knot, things have fallen apart, as the union has crumbled like a pack of cards. Okagbare was said to have filed for a divorce.

Speaking with The Guardian from Sapele, Delta State yesterday, a source close to the sprinter exonerated Okagbare of any blame in the collapsed marriage: “I can tell you categorically that Blessing actually tried everything possible to keep the marriage going.
“I think the husband (Ighoteghuonor) was the problem. On several occasions, Blessing invested so much money on one form of business or the other for Igho to manage but the business crashed soon after it took off. I am based in Sapele and I know what I am talking about. I am sure many people will easily jump into a conclusion that Blessing is harsh in nature, but the girl actually tried her best as far as the marriage was concerned,” the source stated.

An online report, Linda Ikeji’s Blog, revealed a few days ago that Okagbare filed for divorce from her husband after a stint of marital crisis. The report stated that the couple had gone their separate ways amid allegations of infidelity, laziness and other irreconcilable differences.

The Guardian recalls that soon after their elaborate marriage ceremony in Sapele in 2014, Okagbare began the process of relocating her husband to Los Angeles, but the move failed when the US embassy in Abuja did not grant Ighoteguonor a visa. The denial left Okagbare in distraught and confused for months.

Okagbare kept trying until American embassy yielded to her request in 2018. “Her husband relocated to the United States just before the last Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia,” the source hinted yesterday. “I was told the husband is demanding for N100 million from Okagbare, since she was the one who initiated the divorce process. To me, that is stupid. Blessing actually tried her best for the husband. There is this attitude in most Nigerian men that once they get married to a girl who has money, she should be the one carrying all expenses of the family. I am sure that was what has happened in the case of Blessing and Igho,” the source stated.

Efforts to reach out to Ighoteghuonor for comments yesterday were unsuccessful. But he reacted to LIB a few days ago on the divorce saga saying: “I don’t have anything to say… I leave everything to God.”

LET 'ORISHA' PUNISH ME IF I HAD AFFIAR WITH K1~~ OLORI BADRAT REACTS

And she swore by all the Yoruba gods and the Orishas of the Alaafin’s palace.

K1 DEBUNKEDTHE STORY OF AN AFFAIR WITH ONE OF THE ALAAFIN'S WIFE

Fuji legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K 1) has responded to an allegation of a love affair with Queen Badirat Olaitan Adeyemi, one of the wives of the Alaafin of Oyo.

Social media went agog on Wednesday evening after an online publication alleged that the musician was having an affair with Queen Ola.

In a statement issued by his media adviser on Thursday, Kunle Rasheed, K1 De Ultimate has threatened a lawsuit against the online publication that broke the news

Responding to the news, K1 on Thursday posted a clip of one of his stage performances on his Instagram page, throwing a subtle jab at the originator of the allegation.

“The attention of Fuji Maestro and Mayegun of Yorubaland, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, K1 De Ultimate, has been drawn to the rumour making the rounds in the past 48 hours, on social media platforms, where it has been alleged that the music icon was having an affair with Olori Ajoke, one of the wives of Alayeluwa, the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111.

“Ordinarily, one would have waved off this allegation as one coming from the warped mind of one possibly numbed by high covid-19 fever. But as known in these parts, a lie repeatedly told, has a way of transmuting to truth.

“Let me categorically state that the rumour is lies concocted from the pit of hell by those whose aim is to drag to the mud, the name of K1 De Ultimate and ultimately that of the most revered kingdom in Yoruba land.

“These agents of Lucifer have continued in their warped delusions to see K1 go to the ground just for being conferred with the title of Mayegun of Yoruba land. The Alaafin’s crime is the conferment of the honour, hence the grim plot to drag him down also.

“Moreover, the higly respected Monarch and his Olori have both debunked the story as baseless and unfounded.

“For the records, as the Mayegun of Yorubaland, K1 is aware of the customs and traditions of the Yoruba and as such, can not put the culture and tradition of the Yorubaland to disrepute.

“Let me remind the rumour mongers that Nigeria has adequate laws to bring anyone who has embarked on character assassination of the innocent to book. The fans and the general public should be rest assured that we will legally seek redress for this allegation.

Meanwhile, one of his sons, Femi Ayinde Marshall has threatened a lawsuit against the online publication that broke the news.

“Make sure your source is not dead, while at that be sure to have alot of money,” he tweeted.
