GANG-RAPIST SENTENCED TO MERE GRASS CUTTING:WHILE THE VICTIM IS NOW PARALISED

Police in Africa are all the same. When we are talking about bribery and corruptions they can never be found wanting. Extra-judicial killings, lies and deceits are their trade mark.

According to the Nairobi-based Daily Nation newspaper, it reported that a 16-year-old girl known by the pseudonym Liz, to protect her identity was gang raped by six men and thrown into a pit latrine in Kenyan town in June.

Liz, according to the source was attacked while walking home from her grandfather’s funeral in Busia county in western Kenya.

When her unconscious body was thrown into a 6-metre deep pit latrine, she was lucky to survive but due to the injuries she sustained from the assault, Liz is now confined to a wheelchair.

After regaining her consciousness, she was able to recognize three of her assailants and the case was subsequently reported to the police. But what really baffled the whole world was that the police merely asked the gang-rapists to cut grass as a form of punishment and let go!

However, there has been a wave of outrage in Kenya since word got out that the rapists only got some lawn work to do.

According to an activist group Avaaz, they said that:“Nobody has been brought to justice — not the rapists, and not the police,” according to a petition on the website of campaign group Avaaz.org. “Today, we change that. Let’s stand with Liz right now, before her attackers and the police escape”,

Supreme Court Chief Justice Willy Mutunga last weekend said he had forwarded the matter to the National Council for Administration of Justice for “immediate action.” Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed said that “as a woman and a mother I am outraged and angered by this inhumane, traumatizing and inexcusable violation.”

It was gathered that the cultural traditions in that area mandate any rape victim leave her home and move to another town where, in theory, people will not know that she has been raped.

Muthiani labeled rape an “invisible crime” in Kenya because it is underreported and rarely acted on judicially.

The chairman of a local council of elders in Busia County, Alfred Ouma: said he wants “severe action” taken against the officers who initially received the rape complaint and “mishandled it.”

The victim’s grandmother said:“I want those policemen that released the boys that they had in custody to arrest the parents of the boys who raped my granddaughter so that they can say where the boys are hiding,” the grandmother said

REVEALED: 7 WOMEN WHO ARE MORE POWERFUL THAN PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN

BOLA SHAGAYA
FOLORUNSHO ALAKIJA
Gender equality, also known as sex equality, sexual equality or equality of the genders, implies that men and women should receive equal treatment, unless there is a sound biological reason for different treatment. This concept is key in the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights, where the ultimate aim is to provide equality in law and equality in social situations, especially in democratic activities and securing equal pay for equal work.

As a father, and a human being, there is nothing wrong with gender equality, is a way of moving along with system of every democratically settings, political terrains and administrations in a society that have values and respects for human beings.

Nigeria as a country have been clamoring for women empowerment, and yours sincerely is part of that agitation, my baby girl is a graduate of Economics with Second class upper, and I want her to compete with her mates in every sphere of opportunities. That is to say there is nothing wrong with in getting women empowered.

The government of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, shown that it is necessary to empower women and am happy about that, it is during  his administration that a woman, Itunu Hotonu ,a trained architect and an expert in Naval logistics became the first female to attain the rank of a Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy, one of Africa’s most sophisticated navies. And she is the second female carrier soldier after Major-General Ronke Kale, to reach the rank of 2-star General in West Africa. This type of achievement is not political but purely on merit.

However, when we are talking about political appointments and women who are more powerful than Jonathan, we don’t need to look far, those women who fall in this seemingly category of untouchable and powerful are : the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan; the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh; and the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah. Needless to say that these women occupy some of the most strategic and ‘lucrative’ positions in the Federal Government.

These women have proven to be more powerful than the number one citizen of Nigeria because despite public outcries that greet some of their decisions, they go scot-free. Most of the glaring cases of abuse of power including reckless spending of taxpayers’ money, embezzlements, and corruptions have been carried out by these women! Example of this is the controversial purchase of two bulletproof BMW cars by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority allegedly for the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, at a whopping N255m, a clear case of abuse of office and reckless spending.

In the list of most powerful women in Nigeria are Folorunsho Alakija and Bola Shagaya . Alakija is a Billionaire oil tycoon and the richest woman in the world. In May 1993, she got an allocation of oil prospecting licence (OPL) to explore 617,000-acre block granted to her company, Famfa Oil Limited.
While Bola Shagaya, is the CEO of Bolmus International Limited. Around 2005, she became the managing director of Practoil Limited and, in 2011, she founded another exploration company, Voyage Oil and Gas Limited. She has interests in several sectors ranging from oil and gas, banking, cash crops export, real estate, fast-moving consumer goods and photography.

Our women have also not done badly, they have only gone ahead to confirm the old saying..... What a man can do, a woman will do better. In term of accruing wealth, stealing, embezzlement, abuse of office and power, they all master the act more than men. What can I say than to welcome them board!

NOLLYWOOD 'BAD BOY' JILTED NADIA BUARI

Nollywood ‘bad boy’James Ikechukwu Esomugha, aka Jim Iyke, has been cursed for breaking the heart of top Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari.
Jim who wrote that, “I’ll resolve this issue by stating as clearly as possible that this marriage rumours is unfounded and far-fetched. My prerogative is known to me only.”
However, the visibly angry Nadia’s mum said: “they (Jim and Nadia) were great together. They were like a couple and we thought they were heading for the altar. She was very connected to him.”

“She has talked to me about getting married and having children. She has plans of settling down but not right now. She has to focus on her career. That Nigerian boy will suffer for daring to break my baby’s heart,” the visibly angry woman was quoted to have said.

Meanwhile, according to a source, the bad blood started after the issue of Jim Iyke’s affair with one Nancy Alofinaka, who is currently pregnant for him surfaced. Hence the wedding rumour between Jim and Nadia is just a mirage.

YETUNDE 'BUSTLINE' ODUWOLE IN ARRANGE MARRIAGE SCANDAL

IT is no longer news that Tayo Babatunde Bernard, aka BabaTee, is no longer married to Yetude Oduwole, a London based big girl.

Yetude Oduwole, aka Bustline Yetunde, is an award winning writer, a blogger and a journalist.

Pretty Yetunde Oduwole has indeed come a long way! Her Column BUSTLINE’ has been running in various soft sell magazines in NIGERIA since 1990....and presently runs in CITY PEOPLE MAGAZINE, NIGERIA, the largest circulating soft sell magazine in AFRICA

However, with this confusing news of divorce broken on a national television by his ex- ‘baby’hubby Tayo Babatunde Bernard, aka BabaTee, of two years who denied ever married to her raised more questions than answers.

It was learnt that Yetude is 10 years older than her ex-hubby, as for me those years are just number; it has nothing to do with love. However, the’ but’ that have happened in the relationship will soon be exposed.

CORRUPTION: WHO WILL SAVE NIGERIANS FROM NIGERIANS

The first three sentences in a book’ A Perfect Peace’ written by Amos Oz read thus: ‘One day a man may just pick up and walk not. What he leaves behind stays behind. What’s left behind has nothing to scare at but his back’. This is food for thought for our selfish, liars, pen-robbers, and rouge political leaders.

These three sentences will lead me to issue of corruption in Nigeria. Corruptions have eating deep into the leadership of the country to the extent that it will soon be promulgated into law! And anybody found wanting of been righteous will be executed.

It will be recalled that on Tuesday, 29, October, 2013, in Abuja while declaring open the 54th annual conference of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) with the theme, “Institutions, Institutional Reforms and Economic Development”. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria said: “When you talk about corruption, the private sector is involved; the public sector is involved; even the individuals including other societies, and I wouldn’t want to mention names so that I will not be attacked,”

The statements from Mr. President shows that all facet of both private and public sectors in Nigeria are corrupt including the office of the President and President is not left out! The question I will like to ask Mr. President is; Why, What and Who is he scared of?

Nigerians are a witness to a broad day corruption allegedly committed by a woman, a mother, Ms. Stella Oduah, who suppose to know better the implications of corruption but went ahead to connived with a private business man Mr. Maduka, owner of Coscharis Motors Limited, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and duped the entire nation to the tune of N255m, by procuring two bulletproof BMW cars.

Meanwhile, the committee that probe Ms Stella Oduah, concluded that “at least four issues are no longer disputable.”Namely: “extra-budgetary spending”, second is “approval beyond ministerial limit,” “violation of public procurement procedures” and the panel confirmed that “indeed, N255m was spent to buy two bulletproof BMW cars and the use of waivers meant for EKO Games to import the cars.” With this finding and indictment, what will then be the outcome?

Still on corruption, a former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, who has been blamed for fostering the terrorist Boko Haram sect in North-eastern Nigeria, acquired a new Gulfstream jet G650 model that cost him an estimated $72 million (N11.5 billion) to his fleet! The former governor already has three old Dornier aircraft which he acquired from Aero Contractors at an estimated $3 million (N480 million).

In a country whereby stealing were rewarded with national honours, and nobody cares about anything; people like Ali Modu Sheriff, will go unpunished for money-laundering, and corruption.

Corruption forwarded, the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee probing alleged illegal land allocations and racketeering in the Federal Capital Territory, were shocked on Wednesday,6, 2013, at FCT, Abuja as the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission, ICPC, Mr  Ekpo Nta, testified that his agency had seized a total of 61 houses, 45 plots of land at different locations within the FCT and a duplex from an officer of the ‘OGA AT THE TOP’ Nigeria Security and Civil Defence  Corps, NSCDC in the course of  on-going investigations into land scams!

If a single official of a newly created organisation can steal so much, then imagine what will be going on in all the age-long government organisations.

Moreover, in a nation that does not give a damn about assets declaration by public officials, it means that doors of corruptions are open to everybody, from the President to the messenger in the office, and the ship of the country will soon go aground.
