DIEZANI ALISON-MADUEKE: A CORRUPT PUBLIC OFFICIAL BACKED BY THE PRESIDENT

When the story about the former Minister of Aviation Ms Stella Oduah on her alleged misappropriated the Nigerian money on two bulletproof BMW cars worth N255m last year was first published, the presidency then were issuing lots of press released trying to cover up the alleged scandal until the House of Representatives, on December 19, 2013, endorsed the report of committee on Aviation and agreed that the minister  truly breached the 2013 Appropriation Act in the aviation ministry hence, she was indicted.

Then the House of representative were not “parliamentary dictatorship” then as claimed by President Jonathan on Sunday May 4th during the Presidential Media Chat in Abuja, when another case of fraud and misappropriation was levelled against the Minister of Petroleum Resources,  Diezani Alison- Madueke,  over  the N10bn  she allegedly spent on a chartered jet.

It would be recalled that Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was reported in the past that she was using her position as the Petroleum Minister to amass to herself and her cronies. The case of one  Mr Aire and his company, Solid 21 Incorporated, which dealt strictly in jewellery and wristwatches, who did not ‘meet any of the criteria spelt out in the guidelines for prospective crude oil lifters. But, between July 9 and July, 2010, he incorporated two companies, Siseno Oil Nigeria Limited, as well as Caligeria Oil Limited. Both companies were to undertake the businesses of petroleum products sales and distribution’.

‘A month after the no-address companies were incorporated, the minister reportedly directed the Crude Oil Marketing Division (COMD), the NNPC division in charge of crude oil marketing, to approve crude oil lifting contracts to them to lift 60,000 barrels of crude per day. That was done in clear violation of laid down guidelines requiring companies interested in  lifting Nigerian crude to be bona fide end users, with established reputation as large volume traders with global network for at least three years.

In another report also published by NEXT, and entitled “Oil minister in N2.2b bribery scandal”, the minister’s name was mentioned in an elaborate scam which forced marketers to pay huge bribes in exchange for petroleum products import license by the PPPRA. There was also the allegation that she unilaterally assigned prospecting rights in some state-owned lucrative blocks to some briefcase companies without open and competitive bidding.’

It would also be recalled that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the recently suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said that the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, had once stated openly that she was guilty of misappropriating funds but her unauthorized action had gone unpunished.

“For instance the Minister of Petroleum spoke on live Television before the National Assembly admitting that she spent $3.5 billion of tax payers’ money on kerosene subsidy without budgetary approval, but nothing was done,” he said

Indeed, very serious corruption allegations have swirled around the minister in the past year, Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday,29th April, denied claims by the House of Representatives that he issued an order stopping investigations into the  allegations that Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, spent N10bn to charter a private jet  for her trips in the last two years

However, what really give me concern is the way our President was trying to cover-up for the minister, while chat with the media  yesterday, the President said, “The minister of petroleum has not gone to court to stop them.’’ Who are them? Is Mr. President now calling the representatives of 175 million- Nigerian fools? Or is it an offence to ask how our money are been spent? Who are the faceless organisations that question the rationale for the probe? Who are fooling who here?

The president went further to say that:  “The information we have is that some organisations have questioned   the rationale for the probe. But what I want you to know is that the parliament is made up of politicians. And if you have been following the issue especially in the House, you will know that there is more than politics than work.”

The President asked the House to rid itself of what he described as “parliamentary dictatorship”
‘’There is no human being on earth that has not made mistakes. Presidents all over the world are being attacked from the strongest country to the weakest country. But you cannot satisfy everybody. People come after you from different angles. Some people will just set up a magazine or newspaper because they want to face one human being,” he claimed.

“I am not trying to protect anybody. Some people talk about jet or no jet. The Ministry of Petroleum Resources is one ministry that because of its activities people pay attention to it.

“The arrangement they have now whether it is costlier than what they used to have, we will find out. We are looking into it. But when somebody wakes up and says the ministry of petroleum is making use of a jet, the ministry of petroleum has always been using jets. Some government functionaries, you can go to the parliament, they have their own. Whether they hire or not, I don’t know. Only the judiciary is always mindful of what they do.”

On this note, i will like to say that no country can progress when a public official spends the country money recklessly most of the time and the powers that be do the covering up.

INCREDIBLE: DAD BEAT HIS 7-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO DEATH FOR EATING PLATE OF RICE

Kingsley Ekeret, 29, native of Nto Osung, Akwam-Ibom state,is currently cooling  been detained at the Homicide section of the Rivers State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, for allegedly beating his seven- year-old daughter to death, for eating his plate of rice.

According to the source, the suspect was saddled with the responsibility of catering for his three children alone, after his wife reportedly abandoned him.
He returned home at about 7pm

On April 12, 2014, the suspect returned home hungry, and went for the pot of rice he had prepared before leaving for work only to meet an empty pot!  He got angry and descended heavily on Favour her daughter, mean while explanations by the ailing child that she shared the food with her siblings when they were hungry fell on deaf ears. The neighbours said the beating aggravated the health of Favour who eventually died hours later.

On noticing the motionless state of his daughter, Kingsley placed her body at a corner of his one room apartment in Obeama, Oyigbo Local Government Area where his two other children of ages two and three respectively were sleeping.   He, thereafter, wrapped the corpse in one of his clothes, armed with a shovel, he reportedly dug a shallow grave behind his apartment where he buried the remains of Favour at the wee hours of the next day and went about his normal business.

However, the caretaker who noticed the disappearance of Favour, demanded for her whereabouts   from her father; chalantly he told the care-taker that his daughter took ill and was rushed to a hospital in Umuebulu community where she died.

Curious, the caretaker insisted on seeing the corpse, promising to assist in providing money to bury her, a request the suspect refused to oblige, the caretaker later informed another  neighbour. While the accusations ensued, policemen attached to Afam Police division who were on patrol were flagged down, consequent upon which Kingsley was arrested and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department.

In his statement to operatives of the Homicide section, Kingsley exonerated himself from the crime, giving rather different accounts as to how his daughter died. At first, he said: “She died as a result of neglect by her mother. She left me to carter for my three children alone. I usually go out everyday to toil for what they will eat. She apparently died out of neglect.” incoherent with his words, he also said: “Maybe she was poisoned. You see, being poor, I deposited my telephone with a Hausa man that sells rice, with a promise to collect it back when I pay.   It was the rice I prepared for them that morning, without knowing it was poisoned.”

The truth about his alleged involvement was later unfolded when his parents visited him at the SCID. His father was said to have told operatives that Kingsley called him on the phone, informing him that he had mistakenly killed his daughter.

Mr Tunde Ogunsaki, who described the act as a violation of the child’s right to survival and development as well as lack of parental care and protection said the suspect would need to go through psychiatric test apparently to ascertain his mental state before he would be charged to court. His assertion followed claims that Kingsley might be mentally deranged.

NIGERIA: NEW SECURITY MEASURES @ NATION 5-INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS

In cognisance of terror threats in the country, the federal government has introduced new measures to restrict the movement of people, including VIPs, in sensitive parts of the five international airports in the country with effect from May 1st, 2014.

The new measures, includes scrutiny and clearance of all visitors to Nigeria by the immigration officers  at the five designated international airports in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano and Enugu. No protocol officer/aide would be allowed into the arrival/baggage halls of the five international airports in Nigeria.

Also unauthorised uniformed and un-uniformed military and security officials moved unhindered in restricted areas around the airport terminal would no longer be tolerated.

The president's Special Adviser, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Professor Sylvester Monye, who addressed journalists at the Murtala Muhammadu International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on Thursday May 1st,, said the new security arrangement at the airports had become imperative because of the prevailing security situation in the country.

“Over the years, it was the practice of government protocol officials, aides of dignitaries, protocol officers of private companies, unauthorised uniformed military and security officials to move unhindered in restricted areas of our airports.

“This unwholesome milling around in the immigration and customs areas is a threat to national security. The idea is to stop all those not supposed to be within the precincts of our airports from using such facilities for loitering,” Monye said.

This was disclosed by the Presidential Committee on Security which was directed by the president to review security and screening structure set up by the federal government in 2013.

He said security agencies at the airports had been mobilised to arrest any violator of the new measures, and that there would be no sacred cows in the implementation of the new security measures, adding that senior public officials, including governors would be arrested if they violate the rules.

Monye said from May 1, a trend which has existed over the years and sometimes resulted in security breaches.

An elderly man was said to have cautioned Yemi against shouting, but Yemi insulted the elderly man, an argument then ensued between the barber and Saheed, the owner of the centre pushed both Yemi and Saheed out of the place and locked them out.

However, it was learnt that once they got outside, Yemi picked up a bottle from a nearby pub and stabbed Saheed

Saheed, was later rushed to Obeeh Hospital, but he was rejected. We then took him to Bisalam Hospital, but he was referred to Igando General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to residents, Yemi was described as a violent man who had on several occasions attacked youths in the area

It was learnt that after he killed the deceased, Yemi fled to his father’s home, but his father alerted the police and he was arrested by policemen from the Ikotun Police Division.

Yemi’s father, who refused to identify himself, described his son as a troublemaker and wondered where he got the behaviour from.

He said, “I hardly see my son. Sometimes, I don’t see him for as long as three months. He just came to my house last night (Wednesday), crying. He told me that he had stabbed someone at a viewing centre.

“I reported him to the police. I don’t know why he went to watch the match in the first place. What kind of trouble is all this?

“When I saw the picture of the boy he stabbed, I shed tears because it is every parent’s worst nightmare.” Yemi’s father concluded.

“My son was a gentle man. We lived together and he was responsible. I still saw him on Wednesday before he went to watch the match. I struggled to send him to school and now, all is wasted. He had no wife and child.’’ The mother lamented.

REAL AFRICAN LADIES: BOOB BIGGER BEST (BBB)

Let us call spade a spade. When it is small it is small and when it is big it is big. The bra size, clothes and lingerie, jeans etc comes in different sizes. However ladies boob too cannot be ignored, both men and women stare most times at ladies with big boobs; Ladies flaunt what you have to the glory of God.

Foluke Daramola-Salako, Nollywood actress, in an interview of recent said: “At the initial stage I used to be ashamed of myself. Then, I would wear clothes that would not make my bust noticeable. I tried everything I could to hide them. Subsequently, I read a book that said the best admirer you have is yourself and the way you carry yourself is how people would take you. I had to psyche myself to love it. After I did so, I noticed that I was getting advances from people I did not even expect.

“Being a deep thinker, I always looked at the advantage of everything; I saw that it was something I could not change, so I had to make the best out of it. I got it into my sub-conscious that it was a plus than a minus. I have had reasons to talk to a lot of people that are busty and do not appreciate themselves. They now see it as an asset than a liability.”

While most ladies feel good with their bodies and the attractions they got, some complains that they got attention from the people they did not like to be associated with, A lady said: “I like my body especially my breasts. They make me feel beautiful. I know that they are large but sometime in the future, I would want them to be bigger. They are definitely a blessing to me; I like the attention I get from men because of them.”

Moreover, while ladies are really concerned about their bust size, the weight, and occasional backache that associated with big boobs, men are not indifferent. They said they loved busty ladies who got it up to here. They call them real African lady. A guy jokingly said, “I like them big. You would be amazed what fun one can have with a big breast,”
