WE HAVE NOT BANNED ANYONE FROM TRAVELLING...PRESIDENT BUHARI

President Muhammadu Buhari says officials of past administrations including ministers are entitled to their full rights and privileges under the constitution and must not be subjected to any undue harassment and intimidation at the airports or at other points of entry and exit and directed all agencies under the government to run their affairs in full compliance with extant rules, regulations and the constitution of the country. "We have not banned anyone from travelling," said the President.

"Unless otherwise directed by the courts, no law-abiding citizens should be barred from travelling abroad. We must treat fellow citizens with courtesy and respect. Officials at the borders and other points of entry and exit should conduct their affairs in strict compliance with due process. No one has my permission to bar anyone from travelling abroad," the president said.

WOMAN WHO STABBED HER HUSBAND TO DEATH REMANDED IN BAYELSA

Mrs. Victoria Ambakadrimo, the 28-year-old woman that stabbed her husband, Late Barr.Henry Gagariga, to death with a kitchen knife on the throat around 11pm of Wednesday, February 4 after a quarrel in Bayelsa has finally appeared before a state high court in Yenagoa for the first time.

The presiding judge, Justice A.S Rotimi, adjourned proceeding to 18th June 2015, to enable the prosecuting (the state) hand over certain forensic evidences to the defence counsels before hearing commence.

However, an appeal by the prosecuting counsel to have Victoria remanded at the Okaka medium security prison in Yenagoa until final judgment is read was granted.
Though frail looking Victoria pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of murder leveled against, she sobbed over and again as she was escorted to prison at the end of the court session.

The alleged husband slayer before killing her husband works at the Bayelsa State Council for Arts and Culture, and is reportedly the daughter of a renowned journalist and retired director in the state Ministry of Information.

Recall that Victoria stabbed her husband, Gagariga, to death during a domestic quarrel in their bedroom and was sighted by neighbours while attempting to dump his body on the road.

Admiral Murtal Nyako (retd.), Adamawa State former Governor, who was impeached few months ago and openly declared wanted by EFCC, is planning to return back to the country from London.

Nyako had said his impeachment came as a result of the disagreement he had with former President Goodluck Jonathan. He had also accused the then President of having hands in Boko Haram and even wrote him a lengthy letter accusing him of being anti-people.

TOURISM: PARIS COUNCIL BANS "LOVE LOCK TRADITION"

The city of Paris has decided to end the” Love Lock Tradition” and, starting from Monday, the padlocks will be removed from the Pont Des Arts & plexiglass panels will soon replace the grills.

The Pont Des Arts has been the most popular bridge with up to 1 million locks thought to be attached to the railings.

According to the council in charge, the locks are causing ‘a lasting degradation of the heritage of Paris and also a risk to the safety of visitors.

UDUAGHAN PARDONS 24-YEAR STUDENT SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR STEALLING MOBILE PHONE

Emmanuel Uduaghan, Delta state governor, has granted total pardon to 24 year old student, Moses Akatugba who was in November 2013 sentenced by an Asaba High Court to death by hanging for stealing three mobile phones and recharge cards!!

Moses was charged to court after he and his robbery gang robbed a women of about N100k, phones, and recharge cards valued at over N100,000 in Delta state.

This wish was granted as Governor Uduaghan during his last Executive meeting at the government house, Asaba yesterday, 28th May. ….  It is interest to know that an Asaba  High Court in Effurun, Delta State, has sentenced a 24-year-old secondary school student, Moses Akatugba, to death by hanging in November 2013, for stealing mobile phones and  recharge cards. Read the report below and tell us if you think the sentence is appropriate or too harsh.

"Akatugba was convicted on a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery in contravention of Section 6 (b) and punishable under section 1 (2) (a) of the Robbery and Firearms  (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11 Volume 14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.


The prosecution told the court that the convict with others now at large “robbed one Mrs. Akpor Mazino of the sum of N113,930, three phone handsets, 54 various denominations of MTN recharge vouchers, 28 Airtel vouchers and 25 Glo vouchers valued at over N100,000 at No. 30 NNPC Housing Complex Road,
 Ekpan.”
