FINALLY PRESIDENCY AND SENATES WANT TO COVER STELLA ODUAH UP

It was no longer news that the Senate has suspended indefinitely its decision to question the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, at its general session, after repeatedly deferring the minister’s appearance.

According to Senator Solomon Ganiyu, he said the decision was reached at a closed-door session.“Indeed, at the executive session last week, senators were unanimous that the motion should be rescinded. Instead, the minister should rather appear before the Senate Committee on Aviation,” Solomon said.

Nigerian politician are comedians, and their thought and thinking are that we are puppets in their hands by that way they can manipulate us the way they like. If our Senators are sincere why should they took a close-door meeting to rescind an earlier motion agreed on that Ms Stella Oduah to brief the Senate plenary?

Instead, a new resolution approved by the lawmakers on Thursday said, Ms Oduah will now appear before the Senate Committee on Aviation on an unnamed date and the hearing is expected to be reported back to the senate plenary.

“The Senate accordingly resolves to rescind its earlier resolution that the minister of aviation and chief executives of the aviation parastatals to brief the senate plenary,” the motion read.

It also said the minister will “brief the Senate Committee on Aviation on the state of aviation sector and highlights number of aviation incidents.”

It will be recalled that Ms. Oduah is currently facing multiple investigations for allegedly ordering the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to purchase two armoured cars for her at the cost of N255 million. The contract which was not budgeted for and did not follow due process,a case of mis-managing public funds, and breached of trust.

In a Nollywood like manner, Ms.Oduah has denied doing any wrong, and insists she followed due process of laws.

It is important to note that an investigation conductd by the House of Representatives proved those claims false. The Onyejeocha –led committee concluded that “at least four issues are no longer disputable.”Namely: “extra-budgetary spending”, second is “approval beyond ministerial limit,” “violation of public procurement procedures” and the panel confirmed that “indeed, N255m was spent to buy two bulletproof BMW cars and the use of waivers meant for EKO Games to import the cars.”

Since the Abracadabra investigations on this alleged fraud started, nothing concrete has yet to come out of it. Another committee named by President Goodluck Jonathan on the matter has failed to submit its report after the assigned two weeks. This shows us that the Senate investigation if at all it hold will never see the light of the day.

With the way the Presidency, Senates, were handling this aviation Minister alleged fraud case, it will soon be a forgetting issue.
