Veteran sports broadcaster Mr Walter
Oyatogun is dead. According to his daughter Moyo Oyatogun of Star FM Lagos, Mr Oyatogun
died in the early hours of yesterday.
The family of Oyatogun announced that
‘With deep hearts, we the family of Oyatogun, annouunce the death of our loving
father, husband, grandfather and friend, Walter Oyatogun.’
Moyo acknowledged that her
father was a sports man to the core. “He was a sports man, a boxer, a wonderful
man that held the sports world for a long time, training many athletes and
being satisfied that he has served the country in the best way that he could”.
Moyo ended the statement by saying of
her late father that “you have created an impact in our lives.”
The sports world in Nigeria mourned
yesterday as the news Walter’s death spread. He covered football, boxing and
track and field with passion.
