THE GOOD SIDE OF EBOLA IN NIGERIA

Ebola, what a name!!! It’s a name that gives goose pimples to die hard people. A name that is greater than AIDS, tuberculoses, and flu combined together. This is 21st century thunder bolt. Having watched Tunde Kelani’s movie ‘MAGUN’, this Ebola is more powerful than Magun , because Ebola have to cure at the moment but Magun do.

Ebola virus disease (EVD) or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is the human disease caused by ebola viruses. Symptoms start two days to three weeks after contracting the virus with a fever, throat and muscle pains, and headaches. There is then nausea, vomiting and diarrhea along with decreased functioning of the liver and kidneys. At this point some people begin to have problems with bleeding. The end result is death.

Thanks to EBOLA virus, it is now a means of political diversion in Nigeria. Looting continues en mass. Ebola have open up various avenues to a lot of people. Some avenues are positive, while some are negative. Positive in the field of research and development, the rate of adultery will reduce drastically especially in Nigeria at least for now. Nigerian ladies can now apply for any job of their choice without intimidation or sex gratification, University ladies can now move freely within the school premises without any sexual harassment. Ladies who are due for promotion will now be promoted without ‘come and see me in my guest room’. The fear of Ebola is the beginning of the wisdom.

I read on a friend page some moral lesson about Ebola ‘’When Allah and His Rosul, sollalahu alaihi wasallam instruct women to wear Niqob with gloves and socks; you make jest of it claiming to be civilised. When asked you to wash yourselves every time from impurities after menses and after sex you didn't take heed saying purification is a matter of the heart. But now, you are rejecting all handshakes due to Ebola virus’’.

Yea Ebola has now put in the checks and balances on how to greet each other now, all that fake hugs and kissing are no longer in vogue, distance greeting or ‘yanshi’ shaking is now the in thing. As Tokunbo Aboderin put it, ‘Even Adultery reduces, no more kissing, hugging.’

Negative aspect of Ebola, will hit the poor of the poorest in Nigeria, Its going to be another looting avenue for the government officials, billions of Naira will be allocated for the cause, but nothing will be done. Every happening lead to looting in Nigeria.
