Lagos Badagry Expressway , is a silk road; a stretch of about 6okilometre road, but one thing makes this road unique, it have the presence of all security organisations in Nigeria mounting illegal check points along this road. What is annoying is that this checkpoint is within 2-kilometre from one another.
It is interesting to know that few weeks after the retirement of the immediate past Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, and road blocks along have returned to this road. From the Badagry-Seme end up to Iyana-Iba having about 14 Customs checkpoints and nine police checkpoints respectively.
Investigation revealed that the Customs checkpoints are mounted by officers from Seme Border Command and the Federal Operations Unit, FOU. With the former arrangement, both units were supposed to be present at the three approved checkpoints to avoid duplication.
The Customs Authority in the past said the three approved checkpoints along the route should be sited at Gbagi, Agbara and Aradagun.
This is another misplaced of priority on the part of our securities all in the name of corrupting.
