MEET THE ROYAL FATHER THAT MARRIED ONLY ONE WIFE : THE ALAKE OF EGBALAND OBA ADEDOTUN GBADEBO

His Royal Majesty, the Alake of Egbaland ,  Alayeluwa Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo is  one of the respected Obas in Nigeria. What is unique about this Oba is that as at the time of written  this blog, he is the only known Oba to me that married to only one woman, Olori Tokunbo, and they have been married for 43 years.

Gbadebo was born on 14 September 1943, and is from the Laarun Ruling House. He is a grandson of the sixth Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo, who ruled from 1898 to 1920, and is a nephew of Oba Gbadebo II.He attended the Baptist Boys’ High School in Abeokuta, then went on the University of Ibadan in 1965, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969. He joined the army in 1969, and attended the Command and Staff College, Jaji from September 1978 to August 1979. Gbadebo eventually became a Principal Staff Officer to Major-General Tunde Idiagbon, the Chief of Staff at the Supreme Headquarters, Dodan Barracks, from January 1984 to September 1985. He retired from the army as a Colonel.
Oba Gbadebo became the Alake of Egbaland in August 2005.

The Oba revealed recently at a wedding where he was the chairman that he still shares the same bed with his wife and that is how it will remain till death do them part, this was after he praised her for being an incredible partner. He said they have a strong bond and he never had the need to marry another woman.

Oba Adedotun Gbadebo  is 71.
