Rotimi Amaechi, Rivers
State Governor, was reportedly attacked by gunmen suspected to be political
thugs in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State. It was gathered that
escaped death by whiskers as some gunshots fired at him during a door-to-door
ward campaign in the area.
The incident
happened around 6pm today and two people were injured in the process.
Obio/Akpor is said to be the home of the PDP governorship candidate in the
state, Nyesom Wike.
