Pastor
Joseph Awoshoro, of the First Baptist Church, Somolu, Lagos State, said the
kidnapper worshipped with them before abducting four-year-old
David Gbadebo.
According
to the cleric, “The kidnapper mixed with church members. He had worshipped with
us. We gave him a new comer’s reception. He was asked to drop his name and
phone number. He did, but they were obviously fake. We never knew he had a
hidden agenda. He kidnapped the child after church service.” According to
Awoshoro, divine intervention made the boy’s release possible. He added that
the church took to prayers immediately it realised the child had been
kidnapped.
The
church was still praying when it got the call from Owode Yewa Police Station in
Ogun State. The pastor added: “Three good Nigerians had seen the child where he
was dumped near Seme border with a phone tag on his neck.
They took
him immediately to the police station. “We are grateful to the police officers
of that station because they made the boy feel at home. The policemen clothed,
fed and bought some things for him. He was unscratched.” The cleric explained
that though the kidnapper demanded 700,000, ransom, no money was paid before
David was found.
