FIVE-MAN GANG OF ROBBERS LED BY A POLICE SERGEANT ARRESTED IN LAGOS

The five-man-gang of robbers that specialised in attacking ware houses were busted after they went for their last operation at Ogudu area of the state.

While two members of the gang escaped,  a police sergeant, Joseph Okweke, serving with ‘A’ Police Command, Lion Building, Campbell, Lagos State,  and other two were arrested. The two had been identified as Gbenga and Orobo. Orobo is a dismissed army officer who had refused to reveal why he was kicked out of the army.

It was gathered that Sergeant Okweke, who hails from Obuluku in Delta State, used to wear his uniform and gave out guns and ammunition to his gang whenever they went to rob.

The men were arrested by security guards attached to a company they went to rob and handed over to officers at the Ogudu Police Station. While being interrogated, Okweke said he had been robbing with his uniform for over five year and that the sight of his uniform used to make people to lower their guards, making it easy for him and his men to swoop on them.

NB: Come to think of it, how much is the minimum salary of Nigerian police officer?  Police service commission need to look in the welfare of ranks and files .
