ARMED ROBBERS MET THEIR WATERLOO DURING OPERATION ON IJEBU-ODE/BENIN EXPRESSWAY



The Police Anti-Crime Patrol Team attached to Ogbere Division of the Command on Tuesday at about 11.00 p.m. engaged some armed robbers who were operating at Ajede area near J3, along Ijebu Ode/Benin expressway following a distress call.

Muyiwa Adejobi, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer who confirmed this, said the hoodlums had blocked the road with one Toyota Bus with registration number NND 529 XA. The bus had been snatched by the robbers, while they asked the commuters to lie down with a view to robbing them.

He said the robbers, on sighting police, engaged them in a gun battle. One of the robbers died as a result of superior fire power of the police, Mr. Adejobi said.

The police spokesperson said after the operation, the commuters were all rescued unhurt and all their belongings were intact.

When a search was conducted on the dead robber, a cutlass, five life cartridges and assorted charms were recovered from him.
