I ORGANIZED MY BOSS KIDNAP -DRIVER

Mr. Solomon Michael, 35, a driver, has narrated how he organized the kidnap of his boss because the woman was allegedly always mean to him.

Michael carried out the kidnap assisted by Ibrahim Sossa and one Emmanuel, who is presently at large.
While Michael is the driver of Alhaja Modupe Idris, Sossa is the driver to Idris’s younger sister. The two drivers connived and hatched plan on how to kidnap Idris.

It was agreed that Michael and Sossa’s payment would be the Modupe’s Jeep, while Emmanuel and members would share whatever ransom was paid by Idris’s family.

On the fateful day of the kidnap, the kidnappers botched the operation. Rather than kidnap Idris, they kidnapped the two sisters. The prime victim, Idris, later escaped from them.
Also in police custody are ThanksGod Hussaini, Paul Bitrus and Suleiman Mohammed. Hussaini was arrested for attempting to extort money from Idris, pretending he was going to assist her to track and arrest Sossa.

He demanded for money to carry out the deal. He sent his account details to Idris. Idris forwarded same to the police. The account details and the phone number used in calling Idris were used to track him to Plateau State.

Michael confessed that although Idris used to pay him his salary as at when due, he however got sick and tired of her nagging and shouting at him whenever he was driving her.
He decided to organise her kidnap. Remembering how the woman was kidnapped, Michael said that it happened on September 30, 2015, at about 8; 30pm.

He had already told Emmanuel and his members where to ambush him and his madam. On the fateful day of the kidnap, Michael, Idris and his boss’s younger sister, Risikat was in the car; they were returning from Idumota Market, driving through Saro Street, off Ajao Road Surulere, when the hired kidnappers suddenly dashed out from their hiding and halted the car.

Michael said his boss unfortunately escaped the kidnappers, but her sister was abducted and the jeep taken. Inside the car were Ipad, phone and some cash. Michael feigned being shocked at the brazen attack and kidnap.

A police source said: “After they kidnapped Risikat, they took her to a forest in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. It was in the forest that a hunter rescued her. She later found her way to Mountain of Fire Church, where she made contact with her family.” Before Risikat’s rescue, her family had already reported the matter to the Lagos State Police Command. The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, directed the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) to trail the kidnappers. The police source added: “We discovered that Michael contacted one Emmanuel from Ikorodu to carry out the kidnap with his gang.
The hired kidnappers were given initial payment of N30, 000 for transport fare. The kidnappers were four, including Emmanuel. They are however all still at large.”

After the kidnap, Michael was said to have travelled to Jos. Sossa later went to join him. Sossa went with the stolen Jeep. The movement was apparently already planned. They sold the jeep to Bitrus for N300, 000.Bitrus sold it to Mohammed for N400, 000.
“After they squandered the money realized from the sale of the jeep, the two men came back to Lagos and organised a car snatching operation. They snatched a Golf 3 Car at Lekki area. According to the suspects, the idea behind the snatching of the Gulf Car was because they wanted to go straight. They wanted to leave the life of crime and become cab drivers.”

One of the suspects, Sossa said: “It was Michael who brought the idea of kidnapping. I went along because I just wanted to make some money! We were able to kidnap the business woman’s sister.
We later demanded for N1 million ransoms from the family members. We didn’t get the money before police arrested us!” When Sossa fled Lagos, he needed a place to hide for a while and remembered his friend Hussaini. Hussaini said: “Sossa and I once worked at a cement factory in Jos. We lost contact. It was in September, 2015 that Sossa came to my house in Plateau State.
He said he wanted to live with me. I however live in a one-room apartment. I couldn’t accommodate him; he went to lodge at a hotel.”

Police explained that it was Hussaini who actually took Sossa to the hotel where he lodged. According to the police, Hussaini became inquisitive after he noticed that whenever he went to the hotel to visit Sossa, the man would opened the door, armed with a pistol.
Sossa acted scared and looked like he was expecting trouble. Hussaini recounted: “Each time I visited Sossa at the hotel, he would always open the door, armed with a gun. I asked him why he was always with a gun. It was at that point he opened up to me. He told me that he was a robber and just concluded an operation in Lagos. He told me about Risikat and Modupe.”
One day while Sossa was asleep, Hussaini took his phone and copied the phone number of Modupe.
After he left the hotel, he called Modupe. He told her that he knew everything about the kidnap of Risikat and the snatching of her jeep. He told her that Sossa, Risikat’s driver and Michael her driver, planned the whole operation.

He promised to assist her in tracking Sossa and to ensure he dragged him to the nearest police station. Hussaini further said: “I however told her that I couldn’t track and arrest Sossa for her without payment. The woman asked me to send my account details.
She paid N40, 000 into my account. The money was paid twice. She begged me to keep a tab on my friend and not to renege on my promise. But for reasons I still couldn’t fathom, Sossa suddenly disappeared from the hotel where he used to lodge. He disappeared with the jeep. It was after I was arrested, that I saw Sossa at SARS office.”
Police discovered that after Sossa abruptly left the hotel, he met Bitrus, a car dealer in Jos and sold the vehicle to him. Bitrus later sold the vehicle to Mohammed. Both sellers and buyers were arrested.
