Nigerians in Diaspora
sent home $21 billion in 2015,
and Nigeria is the sixth largest receiver of remittances in the world,
the Migration of Remittance Fact book 2016 has shown.
The country is also by far the largest receiver of
remittances in sub-Saharan Africa, receiving a total of $34.8 billion this
year.
According to the report, Nigeria is the
third most preferred destination for migrants in Africa after South Africa and
Ivory Coast and also, Nigeria is the fifth emigration country in the continent
behind Somalia, Burkina Faso, Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo.
