Four years
ago, to be precise Thursday 10th ,May ,2011 ,Uganda women's civil society organizations
issued a statement concerning the brutality, inhuman and degrading treatment of
officers and men of the Uganda Police Force and other security operatives on
the “use of excessive force and especially the use of live ammunition to quell
demonstrations, indiscriminate physical assaults on civilians, spraying of vast
amounts of tear gas in closed spaces including cars, schools, dispensaries and
homes occasioning loss of life and property, severe injuries and pain among
innocent children, by standers, those at work and urban dwellers.
We are
greatly concerned that rather than enjoy state protection, citizens are
preoccupied with defending themselves against its wrath.”
Despite this
appealing, Ugandan Police Force refused to be civilized, but barbaric. It was reported that Uganda Police commander
Kale Kayihura, stripped a leading female opposition
party leader naked publicly while arresting her to serve as a deterrent to others.
What an uncivilized human behavior!
Zaina
Fatuma, a member of the Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) National Executive
Committee, was stripped and manhandled while being arrested by police at
Kanyaryeru in Kiruhura. Watch the VIDEO HERE
The question
is why should state resources be used in this manner just to protect the
selfish need of anybody? And the police whom their salaries were been paid with
tax-payer money allow themselves to be used in this manner by politicians in
order to protect the selfishness and greed? Truly African countries are still
backward.
African leaders need
to call President Yoweri Musaveni to order in respect of this
inhuman and jungle justice treatment meted out to oppositions before this get
out of hands.
