The Lagos State University
(LASU) has announced the suspension of 11 students in connection with the death
of the Miss Omolara Gbadeyan, a 200-Level student in the Department of
Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Faculty of Management Science.
The suspended students are members of the executive committee of the History
and International Studies Students Association, organisers of the party which
led to the death of Gbadeyan.
Gbadeyan
was confirmed dead two weekends ago at the General Hospital Igando where she
was rushed to after allegedly drinking a mixture of alcoholic drinks.
According
to the official bulletin issued by the university’s Centre for Information,
Press and Public Relations, the organisers of the party neither sought
permission from, nor informed, the authorities, which was contrary to the
regulations of the university.
According
to the report, the suspended students include Babatunde Arubo (Chairman), Paul
Shenjobi (President), Esther Kudayah (Vice-President), Matthew Balogun (General
Secretary) and Bidemi Eletu (Treasurer).
The
statement added that the affected students were no longer allowed to participate
in any student-related activity and should appear before a disciplinary
committee.
