"I KILLED MY FATHER WITH BROKEN BOTTLE AND PLANK FOR BEATEN MY MOTHER"-SON

Effiong Mfreke, 25, who is from Ikot Akpainyang Asutan village in the Ibesikpo/Asutan local government area of the state, has confessed to murdering his father, Mr. Archibong Effiong after he started to beat his wife following a heated argument.

According to police spokesperson Cordelia Nwawe, Akwa Ibom state command, Mfreke, disclosed that  he  attacked by his father with a broken bottle after trying to help his mother, picked up a plank with which he used to hit his father on the head, bludgeoning him to death.

“The young man murdered his father by using a plank to hit him on his head,” ….“The young man will be charged in court after the investigation has been concluded.” Cordelia said.

Speaking to reporters, Mfreke said he had returned from the family’s farm and found his parents quarrelling.

 “My mother and father have been having issues. My father has not been feeding me; I cut palm fruit to feed myself,” he said.

“On Monday, at about 6pm, I returned home and met my father and mother quarrelling and fighting.

“I asked my mother what the problem was and she told me. My father came out and saw me; he threw a bottle at me and hit me with a plank,” he said.

“I was annoyed and I took the same plank and hit him back; he slumped and the next thing I heard was that he was dead,”
