NEW BOOK :WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ~~BY ISLAMMIYAH SAUDIQUE

Islammiyah Saudique-Kadejo a Nigerian born top blogger (Pearl Magazine Blog) based in Ireland. Apart from being a writer and a journalist , she ran an advocacy talk show on Facebook called Domestic Violence Talk (#DVTalk), to support, enlighten and lead women out of domestic violence.

In her new book that was just  released  titled ‘Wedding Anniversary: Love Doesn’t Have to Hurt, she said: ‘Wedding Anniversary’ addresses the issue prevalent across the world, irrespective of race and colour; and that is domestic violence. Wedding Anniversary is a play most women and girls worldwide can relate to. It is an interesting story of love and hate. It tells our story as women; the cross-cultural story of many women told with facts and humour, coupled with the struggles, challenges, triumphs and intrigues women go through in their daily lives. This compelling story reveals in a well-nuanced manner that love doesn’t have to hurt.

The rate at which women are murdered in their own homes by men who should love and protect them is appalling. This year alone I did stories on about ten wives killed by their husbands. Seven in Nigeria, three in USA. So I think there is need for more advocacy for women to identify abuse and seek help before it’s too late.

Musediq Abdul, Journalist, anchor Impact Africa (VOA),  in his review after reading 'Wedding Anniversary' wrote:
“Got the kindle edition of Wedding Anniversary and read it in 1hours, 25min - because I couldn't put it down, and I wanted to do justice to it ASAP.
It is a beautiful narrative, however, the tragic ending leaves reader like me with an open ended question - could it have ended differently? In a reasonably unpunished way for the victim (Teemah)?
Perhaps "Feminist Prison" could possibly follows as the next book in continuation of the chronicle of Teemah. Then "A Widow's Destiny" can bring the happy ending show casing life after prison.
Donald, Bella, Pastor & funeral director provided an excellent side kick, and the much needed laugh to diffuse the main tragedy of the story.  I'm proud of you sister.”

Fawsiyyah Emiabata, a Writer, Guidance counsellor and Childcare expert, in her review after reading 'Wedding Anniversary'  also wrote:
'Wedding Anniversary is well written and readable. Particularly, I love its simplicity and the author's choice of words.

I totally enjoyed the book and believe me, I read it all in a sitting. I could not drop it for a second. It was that interesting.

While Islammiyah drives home the message on Domestic Violence as a whole, I also find in the book different other messages or lessons as portrayed by other characters in the play.

The story of Teemah and her sweetheart Prince and the events that led to the hearts becoming sour is what we can all relate to. How do we handle matters? When do we seek help or do we keep patching things up? If it is really love, does it have to hurt?

Though it is tragic, however, the comic relief she incorporated got me seriously cracking. It's so hilarious but seriously, a lot of messages were passed on to the readers.
Islammiyah through the characters in her book, has clearly answered a lot of questions that might have been on the minds of readers prior to picking up the book.

"The taste of the pudding is in its eating". This is a MUST Read and I highly recommend for all Young Adults and Adults.'

Islammiyah is a go getter that makes things happened you can judge that from her quotation  ''I want to always wake up with determination, go to bed with satisfaction and hold it together when everyone would understand if I fell apart.''

Furthermore, i would like to say that all those involved in marriage things must aware of the pressure on them and should be able to make a right decision , no matter what is at stake.

What can we say than to wish her well in her endaviours.
