I saw the post below on a friend's facebook profile, the guy who posted it was the former Chairman of Ijebu-East Local Government,Ogbere, by name Honourable Tunde Oladunjoye.
This is a girl from a local secondary school,that lack basic text books, shortage of teachers, teaching aids, etc...,yet she represented her school, her local government area and indeed her state very well at the National Debate Competition for Secondary Schools grand finale in Calabar, where she came second, losing to the winner by two points!
This girl need all possible surpport and encouragement from Ogun state government and Ogun indigenes alike. More importantly, her school need to be refurbished structurally with all necessary teaching aids put in place.
Read what Hon.Oladunjoye wrote about her below;
"Last year when I met this girl, AREMU-MERCY OLUWAFUMILAYO, at Itele High School, Ijebu Itele, I described her as a first-class brain.
She had represented her school at the National Debate Competition for Secondary Schools! She came first in Ijebu East, first in Ijebu Division, first in Ogun State and first in South- West, Nigeria. At the grand finale in Calabar, she came second losing to the winner by two points.
She was hosted in my house in May last year by the Old Students Association. The school offered her scholarship, while I promised some sponsorship in her schooling and examinations. To the glory of God, I was able to keep the promise.
She sat for WAEC recently and came out with this result, even as SS2 Student:
SUBJECT GRADES
ECONOMICS C5
GEOGRAPHY B2
ENGLISH LANGUAGE B3
YORUBA LANGUAGE B3
MATHEMATICS B3
AGRICULTURAL SCI B3
BIOLOGY B2
CHEMISTRY B3
PHYSICS B2
She has been enrolled for JAMB. I recommend her for all possible support."
