What is DAWN Commission?
DAWN Commission, was set up by the Governments of the Southwest States of Nigeria as the institutional and programme management body to midwife their Regional Integration Agenda. It is therefore the dedicated coordinating agency, fully empowered by the Governments to ensure the delivery of the composite development aspirations of the Region, as expressed in what has been generally adopted and known as the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).
VISION
For the Southwest Region of Nigeria to become the preferred place of choice for people to visit, to live, to work, and to invest in Africa.
MISSION
The attainment of an egalitarian, democratic and economically self-sustaining Region that unlocks the energies and resourcefulness of her people for greater good and prosperity, while assuring their liberty and freedom.
CONTEXT
By Southwest Region of Nigeria, we refer to the Southwest geo-political zone as a definitional boundary comprising of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo. This also recognises the co-terminosity of neighbouring States that may be willing to engage and be part of this Development Agenda. The context however recognises the status of Nigeria as a Federal Republic, with all its inherent complexities.
PURPOSE
The government of the region have charged the Commission to work assiduously in enacting a focused development paradigm for mobilising the collective strengths, assets and capabilities lying within the States of Southwest Nigeria, towards achieving sustainable socio-economic growth and development that would result in high standard of living improved well-being for the people of the Region
