The ongoing governorship election in Edo state ended yesterday, September 19, followed by the counting of votes. There are 14 governorship candidates participating in the election, but the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are believed to be the top contenders in the race.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicated that 1.72 million people are eligible to vote in the election, while 483,796 eligible voters will not participate in the poll for failure to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State is projected to win Saturday's governorship election in the state.
Obaseki achieved the feat after amassing massive votes.According to the results from 17 Local Government Areas announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission so far, the Peoples Democratic Party is leading with over 82,000 votes.
