PEPPER SOUP POLITICS: NAVY, POLICE AT WAR IN WARRI

It will be recalled that there was free for all commotion last Thursday at the Kayriott Hoteland Suites, Effurun, near Warri, Delta State, when a team of naval personnel reportedly invaded the guesthouse, brutalized hotel officials, disarmed and abducted two policemen on guard duty in the hotel following a heated disagreement with a waitress, over supposed non payment for food and drinks enjoyed by a naval officer and his friends.

While narrating what happened, proprietor of the hotel,  Efe Afe,  in a petition to the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Usman Jibril, dated February 3, said, “One Navy Lieutenant Akalezie Uche attached to the Nigerian Navy, NNS Delta in Warri, Delta State, in company of a female friend and another young man visited the aforementioned hotel and was attended to at the hotel’s pool bar by a waitress named Rachael Usen.” He went further to say that ”The waitress at the end of the stay of the above trio demanded payment of the sum of N8,500.00 (Eight thousand, five hundred naira) for the food, drinks and ice cream which the said lieutenant and his friends had ordered and consumed, but the lieutenant claimed that he had already paidhttp://savingsslider-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png for same to the consternation of the waitress who insisted that she had not been paid a dime.”

However, it was discovered that when the mobile police that were on guard at the hotel  tried to apprehend the trio for non settlement of their bill, Lt. Akalezie, allegedly alerted colleagues from the NNS Delta naval base who stormed the hotel and the show of shame began.

In an attempt to defend one of their own, NNS Delta Public Relations Officer, Lt C.I.D Yohana, maintained that the policemen, indeed, manhandled the navy officer .
Mr. Aduba. Delta state Commissioner of Police, described the navy’s defence of the scandalous “feeble attempt”  by his naval counterpart to exonerate his men from the “show of shame”, which he said is a “height of falsehood,” Noting “the simple fact which is well corroborated by evidence of eye witnesses is that the two policemen on guard duty at the hotel, fully dressed in service uniform, were over-powered by the naval personnel who stormed the premises of the hotel in a commando-like manner; disarmed the police personnel, battered them to stupor, before abducting them together with some officials of the hotel to the Naval Base.’
“From the investigation so far conducted, the bone of contention behind this unholy act and a seemingly recurring decimal of occurrence between the navy and the police in the state is the payment of N9,000 for pepper soup and alcoholic beverages consumed by the man who was later identified as a naval officer and two of his friends at the hotel. An argument ensued between the said naval officer on civil outfit and the hotel receptionist over the non payment of the said N9,000 for services delivered, in the course of which the naval officer slapped the receptionist causing her ears to ooze blood.” The Police commissioner added.

In his words, Mr. Aduba, captioned the action of the Naval personnel as an act of lawlessness: “We want to state clearly that the Police Force still remains the symbol of government and no profession has the act of lawlessness as part of its ethics, hence we strongly submit that the act of carrying two Hilux load of naval personnel – not for the purpose of storming/fighting our common enemies – the criminals, but rather for the purpose of overpowering fellow uniformed security personnel on legitimate duty which has occurred several times in Delta State will certainly not augur well for the good governance of our country which is the primary purpose of government.”

NB: It is high time that the Armed Forces in Nigeria call their personnel to order, in order to curb their lawlessness in the society.

PRETTY NOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES SETLLED FOR THE SECOND BEST BECAUSE SINGLE GUYS ARE JUST SCARCE

Nollywood isn’t exactly a haven populated by married women even though most of the women are the most beautiful that can be found anywhere in the country.
Most of the women are either single or divorced and plenty more still searching. Those that have been able to hold on to a marriage have come to accept their lots of being the second wife.
In a recent interview, Lola Alao must have spoken the minds of many of them when she cried out “where are the single guys?” after being  asked why many of her colleagues are going for other woman’s man and even made bold to claim that married men make better husbands.
Many of them who have toed this line have had their lives embroiled in hot waters of controversies, and yet survived while some are not so lucky. Even there are cases of those who rushed into the arms of the other woman’s man  only to rush out. Here are a few of them and their different tales of woes and triumphs.
Caroline Ekanem-Danjuma
The story of Nollywood s*xy actress, Caroline Ekanem-Dajunma is not hidden. She is a one-time glamorous screen diva who later became the second wife of billionaire Musa Danjuma. Since then, Mrs. Danjuma who gave up her career in acting for the marriage has enjoyed all that moneyhttp://savingsslider-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png can buy and good things of life. However, it appears something is disturbing the actress. She recently confessed on her Facebook page that being the second best and being in second place is not fun. It appears something is actually missing here.

Liz Dasilva
There hasn’t been any concrete evidence that this Togolese-Yoruba actress has married her baby’s father who she bore a bouncing baby boy some months ago. But the fact that the actress went ahead to convert from Christianity to Islam, changing her name from Elizabeth to Aishat, in a bid to please her supposed husband, Alhaji Olaoye, is a sign that something more than just mere man-woman relationship is in the equation.
Alhaji Olaoye is said to have many other wives and Liz or Aishat is just one of many in his harem. But it appears Liz has no qualms in marriage as she is reportedly having a ball even if she has to accept her fate of seeing Alhaji every now and then
Mercy Aigbe
Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe is surely having the fun of her life in her polygamous marriage. She was nick-named a husband snatcher by a fellow actress few months ago when she got married to Bimbo Akinsanya‘s husband, Lanre Gentry.
Ini Edo
In November 2008 she got married to Philip Ehiagwina, a businessman.  Edo had a second wedding in February 2009 in America, in Houston, Texas, where her husband is based. Their relationship had been in the newspapers: not just because Edo is one of those people that newspapers like to write things about, true and untrue, but also because Ehiagwina had already been married, to Ruth Okoro, a Nigerian-American model and actress. Okoro made his leaving her for Edo ugly and public, both of them saying terrible things about each other.
Mosun Filani
Popular Yoruba Actress, Mosunmola Filani  secretly got married to Simeon Oduoye in Ibadan not too long ago.
The light-skinned Yoruba actress, as we were told by an industry source, was full of surprise getting married to Simeon, who is believed to be a woman’s guy.
Information gathered revealed that Mosun secured the love of Simeon at the expense of Yemisi, Simeon’s wife at the time.
Mosun, who once had hot romance with Odunlade Adekola and Muyiwa Ademola, was said to have hijacked Simeon to herself, thereby making him pay less attention to his wife, Yemisi, who has two kids for him.
Mosun has gone on to bear the man a baby girl and their marriage seems to be in ship-shape with no detectable cracks of any discord.

Bose Arowosegbe
If you have been wondering why Nigerian actresses prefer marrying other people’s husbands, wonder no more, because Nollywood Yoruba actress, Bose Arowosegbe, has come out to support the trendhttp://savingsslider-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png of actresses going after married men. Just like some of her colleagues have done in the past, Bose is a second wife and she is proud of that. Her reasons are that single men are immature, childish, poor and do not have what it takes to give the actresses the kind of life they deserve.
Here is what she said: “I am married to a married man. I have not told anyone this before. Why actresses go for married men is that most single men out there are not mature enough to handle the fact that actresses are normal women.

Mercy Johnson
Most talented and sought after actress in the  English sector of Nollywood, Mercy Ozioma Johnson  got married to Prince Odianosen Okojie, who is married to a Canada-based lady named Lovely with two  kids, a boy and a girl.
The whole drama got messier, when Lovely came out of the blues claiming that she is the legally married wife of Prince Odianose, who Mercy was planning to get married to and that she can’t get abandoned like that because she is still legally married to her husband, Prince Okojie.

FORMER DEPUTY-GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE SINATU OJIKUTU ARRESTED ON FRAUD CHARGE

The 67-year-old, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu.
who was declared wanted by the SFU on June 19, 2013, for allegedly obtaining N130m from one Cajethan Okekearu, under the guise of selling a plot of land at Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos, was arrested on Tuesday ,at her Lagos Island residence by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police.

According to the statement by the SFU Commissioner of Police, Mr.Tunde Ogunsakin, Ojikutu was said to have allegedly connived with her son, Samson Ojikutu Jnr, currently in the United States, to commit the fraud.
The statement reads in part, “The suspect and her son were parties to the sale of the land and both signed the agreement given to Okekerau and obtained the sum of N130m from him.

“She admitted the crime, but claimed that it was a genuine mistake of plot identification. After refunding N50m to Okekearu, she promised to refund the balance as soon as she disposed her two properties she put up for sale.

“She equally made an undertaking and payment plan which was drawn from September, 2012 and was to terminate by November 2012, but she defaulted.”

However, It was learnt that Okekearu became aware of the fraud after he commenced development on the land. He was said to be on the verge of completing the building when the bonafide owner of the land surfaced.

It was later discovered that the land which the ex-deputy governor sold did not belong to her.  She actually sold Plot 23 Block 4, said to belong to one Mr. Afolabi, while her plot, 24 Block 4, already had a property on it.

It was also discovered that the plot belonged to late Samson Ojikutu Snr, the suspect’s husband who died in 2008. The plot was sold by him in 1995, while the suspect appended her signature to the sale of the land.

The statement added, “It will be recalled that the suspect sued the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, SFU and the complainants in the State High Court at Igbosere, Lagos, with Suit No. M/581/2013, praying the court to restrain the police from further investigation into the matter and violation of fundamental human right.

“The ruling by Justice Obadina on December 17, 2013, dismissed the suit for lack of merit, saying the Nigeria Police has the power to prosecute the applicants, Sinatu and her son, Samson, since the police investigation revealed that there is prima-facie case of obtaining by false pretences against them and added that the court would not interfere or restrain the police from carrying out their statutory function.”
