REUBEN ABATI AGAIN: CLAIMING THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS WINNING WAR AGAINST BOKO-HARAM

Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, has come all out to say that the Federal Government is winning the war against terrorist Islamic militant sect, Boko Haram.

Abati made this known on Al-Jazeera interactive programme ‘The Steam’ hosted by renowned journalist Femi Oke. According to him, he said thus: “The government is winning the war against Boko Haram. The violence has reduced compared to the situation a year ago. Nigerians go to church with fear and trepidation every Sunday but that does not happen anymore.”

Reuben who was on the programme with a serving senator, Ahmad Khalifa, Aminu Gamuwa, and Babatunde Rosanwo, was taken aback when  Rosanwo said “the government must come down to the level of its citizens; they are the ones that are being killed.” And that “The government is definitely not winning the war against Boko Haram,” he said. ‘’You need to stop this centenary nonsense,” he said. “How can you celebrate when forty three kids were killed? What stops Mr. President from visiting Borno?” he asked rhetorically

Senator Khalifa agreed with Rosanwo saying the government has failed in protecting the lives and property of citizens in the affected areas. He punctured Abati’s argument saying the insurgents are within the community – a notion contrary to the official stance of the government which suggests that the Islamic militant sect adopts a cross-border guerrilla attack strategy.

Rosanwo stated that the president needs to show some empathy to the victims of Boko Haram in Yobe, Borno and Bauchi by paying a visit to the region instead of sitting put in Abuja.

Abati, like other political jobbers before  him countered ,saying citizens  especially a serving senator, should be careful not to make statements that are capable of demoralizing the troops fighting against insurgents. He assured Nigerians of the commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan to the security of every citizen.

It will be recall that Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked Jakana town in Konduga local government area of Borno State, killing no fewer than 42 people. Jakana is just 10 kilometres from Mainok, the village attacked by the terrorists on Saturday and which lost 39 people.

A middle aged man Pedro Anagbe, has been arrested in Lagos and charged to court after reports that he raped his teenage daughter. The accused has been arraigned before a Magistrate court sitting in the Ebute Metta area of the state and is facing charges bordering on forceful sexual intercourse.

 Pedro  Anegbe is said to have stated that he raped his 15-year-old daughter because a ‘spirit’ asked him to do so in order to get a job; while pleading innocent to rape, said he had started hearing the voice after he lost his job that told him to damage some things and rape his daughter.

The incident is said to have occurred at the family residence on Ifelodun Street , Fatolu ,Ipaja area of Lagos.

According to the Investigating Police Officer, Bakare Murtala , “The defendant is the biological father of  the girl. She told us her father had sexually harassed her. We questioned him on his daughter’s allegation and he confessed to the crime. He said he had raped her twice.”

OBESERE ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED RAPE AND RITUAL

Alhaji Abass Akande, aka Obesere, has been arrested   in Lagos for allegedly raping a 29-year-old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya in his Okota residence, Lagos.

According to the victim, who is a graduate of Ibadan Polytechnic, narrated her story thus: “I got to know  Obesere through one of my friends, Mrs Bola Okoro. She told me that Obesere would assist me in my business.

“I deal in office equipment and when I contacted Obesere, he asked me to meet him in his family house at Okota.  When I  met him, I  introduced my business to him and he promised to connect me to some of his friends in Dubai who would sell  goods to me on credit.

“After the discussion, he started demanding for sex and I refused and when I wanted to leave, he insisted I should sleep over in his house because it was late and he claimed that it was dangerous to go out late in the night in his area.

“I thought he was a responsible man and I decided to sleep over, but at the dead of the night, he came into the room where I slept and pounced on me.

“He raped me and afterwards inserted a ring he wore into my private part and I started bleeding. He hurriedly left me in the room saying he had an appointment to fulfil.

“I could not bear the trauma and the bleeding and I reported the matter to the police.”

It was gathered that Obesere was first arrested last Wednesday by the Police at Isolo Police Division, where Olaiya reported the matter. He was subsequently released on administrative bail.

He was later re-arrested on Monday, when medical examination conducted on Olaiya revealed that she was actually raped and the Divisional Police Officer, Isolo,  Adamu Ibrahim, was said to have ordered the transfer of the matter to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

Sources disclosed that Obesere’s arrest was made possible through a warrant of arrest issued by the Chief Magistrate of Isolo Magistrate Court, Mrs Kike Bukola Ayeye, as he had declined to honour several police invitations sent to his house at Johnson Famiye Street, Canal Estate, Ago, Okota.

However, it was learnt that according to Obesere statement, he denied ever raping Olaiya, rather he claimed she was his lover and they made love when she visited him.

NB: okay let assumed the lady in question is her lover as he claimed, why did he dipped the said ring in her private part and the rushed out? Nigerian ladies beware of all this guys. Eni ba leti lati fi gbo ko gbo oo.

The Pastor of Jesus Is The Way Evangelistic Ministry, Olorunsogo, Abeokuta was arrested at Oke-Yidi area of Abeokuta, the state capital on Tuesday according to the police.

The 34 year old Pastor Adekunle Kayode, has been arrested in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Nigeria by theOgun State Police Command for allegedly fondling with private organ of a female member of his church under the guise of confirming the status of her virginity.

 The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi while confirming the arrest said, it was as a result of the report lodged by the victim's father at Kemta Police Headquarters, Idi-Aba, in the town.

 
According to him, the 20 year old victim had narrated her ordeal to her father who subsequently informed the police of the incident, stating that the victim was reported to have received 'holy spirit' which propelled her to reveal the misdeeds of the pastor who has been indulged in this ungodly act for years

THE GENERAL OVERSEER ACCUSED FOR ALLEGEDLY RAPED AND IMPREGNATING 2-UNDERAGE GIRLS IN ABUJA

The General Overseer, Mountain Movers Fire Ministry Church, Nyanya, Pastor Princewill Basil , who was arraigned in 2012 for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge and impregnating two student-members of his church, aged 14 and 15 years, was on Tuesday confronted by a second victim who claimed he raped her countless times.

Giving evidence under cross-examination by the defence counsel, Mr Sunday Kekere, the victim said the pastor, Pastor Princewill Basil .rape her to “cleanse her spirit of dirt’’.

“I cannot remember the number of times he raped me.

“Papa told me it was a continuous deliverance, and he had to sleep with me to clean all the dirt inside me and also cleanse my future,’’’ she told court.

When asked if the pastor had paid her school fees before, she said: “Papa( that is the pastor) had once told me during deliverance that he gave my mum N40,000 for my school fees.’’

“When I asked my mum, she said it was not true,’’ she testified.

The victim alleged that the accused had on some occasions, threatened her with a knife to force her to sleep with him.

After her testimony, Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf, of FCT High Court, Abuja, adjourned the case to March 14 for continuation of testimony.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), at the last sitting of the case on Feb. 11, the first victim told the court that Basil allegedly told her that her father’s wife was trying to kill her and that the Lord told him to perform a quick deliverance on her.

“I agreed for the deliverance to be carried out on me. During the deliverance, he carried a white handkerchief and a bottle of oil and asked me to remove my clothes.

“He also asked me if I was menstruating and I told him no.

“He told me that I was possessed with many evil spirits that had stained my blood, and it will only take my husband to deliver me and I was not married.

“He said that he will carry out the cleansing on me,’’ she said.

The victim testified that the accused led her into his bedroom and asked her to close her eyes, brought his handkerchief and placed it over her head and she became very weak.

The victim alleged that the accused raped her.

The offences, contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 179, 397(B) and 268 of the Penal Code. If convicted, the Pastor is liable to 14 years in prison. The accused had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
