BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL: BLEACHING OR TONING IS A CASE OF INFERIORITY COMPLEX

Black is beautiful. That is a statement of facts. African ladies now love to look like ‘Oyinbo’ all in the name of been in vogue. The questions that come to my mind are:’’ What shall it profit a woman to use her hand to bring decolouration upon herself all in the name of fashion...? At the same time,''If a friend, brother or sisters that you've not seen for a while suddenly appear with a multi-coloured skin as the one in the picture below, what would you say or how would you react?'' According to Aljazeera, Nigeria has the world's highest percentage of women using skin lightening agents in the quest for "beauty".

Bleaching or toning to me is a case of inferiority complex, an attitude of belonging by force! Who say been white or yellow skinned makes you a pretty lady? People from European countries do go on vacation to North Africans countries and tropical world to sun tanned! That is to get darker.

Femi Kuti captured the complexity of African blacks when he said,“An African will prefer to be called John-Philip. If you said your name was Chukwu Emeka Afongkudong they will say you are from the village. You are backward. How can you have such a name? We really look down on our culture and heritage instead of being proud of it,”

“When the bleaching propaganda got so negative, they had to come up with toning. Bleaching sounds too hard, now it’s toning. I don't bleach, they say, I tone!” “They think bleaching is gege,” Femi said.

Some guys believes fairer skin could be her ticket to a better life in society, so mixing  concoctions that promise to lighten their skin is a must as majority of this people are living under 1$ income per day.

Lightening creams in Nigeria are not effectively regulated; roadside vendors sell tubes and plastic bags of powders and ointments from cardboard boxes stacked along sidewalks in market districts. Many of the tubes are unlabelled as to their actual ingredients and this has hazardous health consequences.

The dangers associated with the use of toxic compounds for skin bleaching include blood cancers such as leukaemia and cancers of the liver and kidneys as well as severe skin conditions.

Hardcore bleachers use illegal ointments containing toxins like mercury, a metal that blocks production of melanin, which gives the skin its colour, but can also be toxic.

“Systemically it causes things like kidney failure because of the mercury in some of the products and it also causes eczema, skin pigmentation among a host of other infections,” Ayobode Williams, a medical doctor said.

CENSUS FIGURES IN NIGERIA: IS A FRAUD,MANIPULATIONS AND DECEIT

“Arrest him! Arrest him now!”That was the statement of former Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, Ibrahim Ahmed , a delegate representing the Northern part of Nigeria at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja ordering the arrest of a delegate from Edo State, Chris Agbonwanegbe, for challenging the census figure of Northern Nigeria.

Mr. Chris Agbonwanegbe, buttressed his point when he said, “I did my National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, programme in the North. So, I know what I saw during my service years. I can authoritatively tell you that there is injustice in this country.

“How can a state like Katsina or Kano have more local government areas than Lagos which has the highest population? It is obvious that there is injustice and this should be addressed.

“From previous censuses we have had, it is obvious that Nigeria cannot conduct a credible census. We need to invite the United Nations to help us in conducting a census that will be accepted by everyone and finally put the argument about the region with the highest number to a rest.”

His submission did not go down well with many Northern delegates who threw caution to the wind for him to challenge the age long Abracadabra of census figures, in a bid to stop him from speaking further on the matter, the Northern delegates screamed and raised a point of order to stop the Edo delegate from continuing to speak, Conference Chairman, Idris Kutigi, ignored them.

However, former governor of Ogun State, Segun Osoba, re-echoed the position of Mr. Agbonwanegbe and called for the reversal of the injustice he said characterized the number of local government councils in some parts of the country. “The era of trying to manipulate census figure is over. With the help of Google, we can now get the number of people in a particular area. We can use that to conduct our census. I do not subscribe to the fact that the United Nations should conduct our census for us.”Osoba said.

FOR RECORD: MICHELLE HOWARD BECAME 1ST FEMALE FOUR-STAR ADMIRAL IN USA

Michelle Howard became the first female four-star admiral and the Navy's number two officer in United States of America Navy. She will assume the duties and responsibilities as the 38th Vice Chief of Naval Operations, relieving Adm. Mark Ferguson.

Howard thanked her family and her fellow officers in front of a crowd of about 100 for their support over the years, saying that sailors embody the spirit of independence forged then and thanked sailors for the privilege to lead them.

Howard , whom  critics who say she was promoted for political reasons rather than merit, a notion that both Mabus and Greenert were quick to dismiss in their remarks.

"Michelle has put in a tremendous career," Greenert said. "Thirty-two years of mainstream, at-sea, tough tours. Michelle came up through the amphibious expeditionary warfare arena and came into [Washington] and did the hard jobs that needed to be done. And so she is definitely ready to assume this position, there is no question in my mind."

Mabus said Howard was selected to four-star because she was the best qualified."The Navy chose the best officer to be the VCNO, that's the only thing that happened here today,"

A 1982 Naval Academy graduate, Howard has achieved many firsts in her career. She was the first black woman to command a ship — the amphibious dock landing ship Rushmore in 1999 — and went on to command Amphibious Squadron 7 and later Expeditionary Strike Group 2.

Howard most recently served as the deputy CNO for operations, plans and strategy. In a phone interview with Navy Times on Monday, she said she'll be focusing on "culture" issues as VCNO, especially in the areas of cyber and information security in an age of social media and online gaming.

MEET POP STAR :ABIMBOLA 'BIM' FERNANDEZ DAUGHTER OF BILLIONAIRE ANTONIO DEINDE FERNANDEZ

"Let's Take It Naked” that is the Fernandez's first single released. Abimbola "Bim" Fernandez, 24, is the daughter of Nigerian gemstone tycoon Antonio Deinde Fernandez.

Bim Fernandez says she's making her own path and launching a career without her father's help. According to her, it was after her mother's death last May from colon cancer that she finally decided to pursue her dream of stardom and step up her game as a tribute to her mom.

Bim sealed a deal with SMH Records in November, 2013, according to her label's co-owner, Michael A. Smith. The iTunes release of Let's Take It Naked, a flute-infused, bubblegum dance floor jam, is expected soon, along with a music video and radio promotion from distributor Caroline Records (a division of the very big deal Capitol Music Group).

"It's not even that racy of a song!" Fernandez says about the provocatively titled track. "It's very poppy, like, 'I think you're cute! Do you like me? So let's get naked!' I want it to be that song where it's like, 'Turn that song on! Let's get ready! Let's do shots!' "

It's little surprise, then, that Fernandez's father is not vetting any of this - he's always encouraged his family to be highly private, don't-talk-to-the press kind of people.
"He's terrified because I'm his baby - especially with [me] revealing [my] wealth, and me being alone in the country, he's terrified of someone kidnapping me and holding me for ransom," she says. "He also just doesn't want people taking advantage of me because I have been very sheltered my whole life."

Born in France in 1988, Fernandez first got interested in music at age 4 - her parents made her perform violin for them in the music room every Sunday. She picked up guitar at age 13 at boarding school, due to a passion for Courtney Love and for the Irish band Blink. Her professional debut would come years later when she moved to New York after a one-month stint at Oxford Brookes University in England. "Everyone was way too snobby - I couldn't do it," Fernandez says of her unhappy few weeks there.

"I think that, unfortunately, everyone's perception of socialites has been pretty accurate so far, which is what I want to change," says Fernandez. "People think I'm exactly like Paris Hilton, that I do nothing, I don't work for myself, I don't make my own money, I just spend my dad's money, and I'm a spoiled brat. I hope they're not right."

Bim Fernandez insists: "Money can't buy a record deal.”It can't buy good music. You can either sing or you can't."

SEE DEM: Eat Today N Forget Tommorrow

I know for sure that the politicians in Ekiti State especially the People Democratic Party supporters and their hang-on will call this Photoshop or propaganda sponsored by the political enemy to destroy the reputation of their newly elected governor, but far from it.

All I can see here is poverty that have eating deep in our society, majority of Nigerians are just existing but not living, some don’t even know what their right is! That is why you see lots of these people queuing up inside the scorching sun for a bag of 5kg of 1 week Rice and 4years of suffering!

Alas, these people have mortgage the future of their unborn generation with Rice; it’s a situation of ‘Eat Today N Forget Tomorrow’

GHANA SPIRITUALIST IS A FLUKE: AS CRISTIANO RONALDO NETTING THE WINNER 2-1 TO FINISH GHANA

All is now history as Black Star of Ghana was out of the 2014 World cup in Brazil. Kwaku Bonsam, Ghanaian spiritualist who claimed he used witchcraft to give Cristiano Ronaldo the muscle problems to prevent him from playing against Ghana in the world cup, is nothing but nonsense, because the superstar striker Cristiano Ronaldo netting the winner—2-1 victory to finish Ghana yesterday and placed them at the bottom of Group G that comprises of Ghana, Portugal, USA and Germany

“I said it four months ago, that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World Cup, or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana, and the best thing I can do is to keep him out through injury. I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called‘Kahwiri Kapam." The witch doctor said then on Ghanaian radio

"This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury, because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day, and it is something else.”
