ABOMINATION: MY FATHER RAPED AND IMPREGNATED ME

Strange but true, an ordeal of 16-year old girl (Omolola)who was impregnated by his own father Segun Oderinde , and they have a child – a bouncing baby boy  named Moses Okiki Bolutiwatife. This means that Oderinde is the father and grandfather of his daughter’s baby! The name, Boluwatife, means ‘As God wills’, but is it really the will of God for a man to have a child through his own biological daughter? Okiki also means ‘fame’ but is it this kind of fame the little baby would have wished himself?

This is the strange thing that has happened in the Oderinde family in Gboro Compound, Igbeti, Olorunsogo Local  Government area of Oyo State.

The teenage mother narrated her story thus:
“I was living with my mother until 2013 when my father asked me to come and live with him. On December 25, 2013, my father woke me up and asked to remove my clothes but I refused. He drew a cutlass and threatened to kill me if I did not do his bidding. Afraid, I removed my clothes and he forcefully had sex with me. He was the first man to sleep with me because I had never had sex before then.

“The following day, I reported to one of his two wives who was a nurse and she promised to ask him, but I don’t know whether she eventually did. In March, 2014, he did the same thing again and I ran to his second wife’s house and reported to her. She asked me to swear to an oath with a bible but I refused since I knew I was saying the truth. I started sleeping in her apartment.

“In April, he came to tell me to return to his apartment to do some things for him but I refused to go. His wife however put pressure on me to answer my father’s call since he wanted me to do some things for him at home. I followed him after much pressure.

“Unfortunately for me, on Saturday preceding Easter celebration, precisely on April 18, he had sex with me again. All the while, I did not know I was pregnant. I had my last menstruation in December 2013.

“My stepmother suspected I was pregnant and took me to one Mrs Aremu who confirmed the pregnancy. The case was reported at the police station and I started living with my paternal grandfather until I fell into labour. My mother wanted the pregnancy to be aborted but the doctor said he could not do it.

“After I was delivered of the baby and my grandfather was told that the baby has a striking resemblance with my father, he ran away and has not been seen since then.

“Since the confirmation of the pregnancy, the DPO and the DCO were the ones who purchased baby things and other items that I would need during and after delivery. They also paid my hospital bill. I now stay with my mother and she is helping me to take care of the baby.”

The girl appealed to members of the public to come to her aid so that her education would not be stalled. “I want to return to school. I was in JSS2 when this happened but I don’t want it to mark the end of my academic pursuit,” the girl said.

YEMI AFOLAYAN'S DEATH : SARAKI AND AHMED SHARES THE BLAME

Chief Gbenga Awoyale, President of Orisun Igbomina a socio cultural group of people of Kwara blames the death of the All Progressive Congress APC scribe, Hon .Yemi Afolayan on Bukola Saraki and Governor Ahmed of Kwara state.

He recalled that "Prince Afolayan was a political Adviser to Governor Bukola Saraki, a member Kwara state House of Assembly, former secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Kwara state and Secretary APC contributed immensely to good governance, peace and tranquility in the state.

In his words, "how on earth would Bukola and Ahmed abandoned Afolayan while he needed their assistance most, adding that to send Afolayan to an Indian hospital for treatment won't be much because he was a committed loyalist of the Sarakis rather they went on partying and distributing customised electrical gadgets to their supporters while this is not enough, Gov Ahmed led another team to London for a birthday party of the former first lady as if they were doing bazaar.

" Bukola Saraki nor Gov. Ahmed could have earmarked just N2 million to fly him abroad for treatment rather the duo were busy dancing at the birthday bash of the former first lady while one of their core loyalist was reeling in pains a stone throne to their houses, noting that if it were to be Baba Saraki he would have visited his house no matter how busy he was", Awoyale disclosed.

He went further to say : "I have said it severally that Bukola can never be compared with his late Father because the father was a caring and accommodating leader of the people.  On more than three occasions late Olusola Saraki despite his age travelled to Inishan, Oko in Irepodun council area to visit or mend fences for late Afolayan; he was the one who handed Afolayan to Bukola Saraki that he was a loyal and reliable person that Bukola should bank upon, but to Bukola is too arrogant and full of himself.”

He warned those following Bukola to be weary of him as he is still likely to meet out the same treatment to them.

He said Afolayan will be greatly missed by the group because he was a founding member of the group and prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO 'ORLANDO JULIUS' GOD FATHER OF AFRO BEAT

Orlando Julius is one of the living legends of Nigerian and African music, a genuine pioneer whose early fusions of highlife and soul paved the way for Afro beat of today.

Born in 1943, Orlando Julius Aremu Olusanya Ekemode was the fourth son of a family of merchants, and following the death of his father in 1957, little Orlando moved to Ibadan, the then-capital of western region, to make name for himself.
Orlando Julius. Started his career in the '60s, he  was fusing Afro-Pop, Highlife,  Afro-beat, World beat with those of American pop, soul, and R&B. Orlando as an inventor, developed and popularised Afro music that we are now enjoying.

According to him, he said‘If you listen to what I’ve recorded and released, you can tell that I started Afro. I don’t say that Fela is not the king of Afrobeat, but I am the father. And the father is the elder. And I’m glad that a lot of people know that.
Orlando started his band in Ibadan, and has his gig at the then Independence Hotel in Ibadan.

Orlando said he started out as a drummer, but soon learned multiple instruments, including the alto saxophone, with which he’s most strongly identified today; recorded his first song “Igbehin Adara,” but ‘my second one was a hit. It was called “Jaguar Nana,” recorded for Philips Records in Lagos. 60s.

‘Aside from performing and recording in his native Nigeria, he spent many years in the United States working on collaborations with Lamont Dozier, the Crusaders, and Hugh Masekela. His 1966 effort, Super Afro Soul, made him a national celebrity in Nigeria and even went so far as to influence music in the United States. The record's dramatic, highly melodic incorporation of soul, pop, and funk was very much ahead of its time, and some say that Super Afro Soul helped shape the funk movement that swept over the United States in subsequent years.

In early 2014, the Heliocentrics brought him to their all-analog studio in North London, where they backed him in a series of recordings that featured vintage tunes that had never been recorded as well as new compositions.’ Jaiyede Afro’ was issued in September.

Please join me to wish this great son of Africa happy birthday.
