MY REGRET AS A FOOTBALLER...JAY JAY OKOCHA
Ex-Nigerian
international legendary Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha, in an interview with Encomium, talked about his regrets as a
footballer and shed light on why it’s difficult to feel the vacuum of the
number 10 position he left behind. Austin said:
"If I have
any regret that would be not winning The African Footballer of the Year. But
then, I don't think I was meant to because I gave my best, but at the end, it
wasn't good enough. However, I had a fantastic playing career"
On
the No.10 position he left behind, Okocha replied: "I don't
want to sound arrogant but the truth it that there is something special about
me. Sometimes, you have special players in a squad, when you lose them, it will
take like five to ten years to get another set of such players. Not that the
people trying to fill the vacuum are not good, they are great in their own way,
but they are not just special. With time, Nigeria will get the special one that
will fill the vacuum I left" He told
THE SUPREME COURT REINSTATES IMPEACHED FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR AS GOVERNOR OF TARABA STATE
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has
reinstated the former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Sanni Danladi,
who was impeached by the state House of Assembly in October 2012 under
questionable circumstances.
Delivering its judgement today, the
Supreme Court led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, ruled that the impeachment panel
set up by the House of Assembly to investigate all the allegations levelled
against Danladi did not give him fair hearing as he was not given any
opportunity to speak for himself during any of the panels proceedings.
The Supreme Court held
that there seemed to be conspiracy between both the Taraba State High Court and
the impeachment panel. The court ruled that the impeached Alhaji Sanni Danladi, be immediately reinstated
as Governor
