HEARTBREAKING: 3700 HOME DESTROYED IN BAGA AS AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL RELEASE SATELLITE IMAGE !!!

According to a report , Amnesty International has released satellite images from the January 2nd and 7th Boko Haram attack in Baga ,Borno state. Early reports put the death toll from the attack at 2000 but that has been disputed by the Nigerian military that put the death toll at 150.

Amnesty International Nigeria researcher, Daniel Eyre, says, about 3,700 homes in two villages, Baga and Doron Baga were destroyed by the militants and that Boko Haram attacks, carried out in Baga last week is so far the deadliest. Continue...

“The Satellite images released by Amnesty International on Wednesday provides indisputable and shocking evidence of the scale of last week’s attack on the towns of Baga and Doron Baga by Boko Haram militants. Before and after images of two neighbouring towns, Baga (160 kilometres from Maiduguri) and Doron Baga (also known as Doro Gowon, 2.5 km from Baga), taken on 2 and 7 January show the devastating effect of the attacks which left over 3,700 structures damaged or completely destroyed. Other nearby towns and villages were also attacked over this period.

These detailed images show devastation of catastrophic proportions in two towns, one of which was almost wiped off the map in the space of four days. Of all Boko Haram assaults analyzed by Amnesty International, this is the largest and most destructive yet. It represents a deliberate attack on civilians whose homes, clinics and schools are now burnt out ruins. The analysis shows just two of the many towns and villages that fell victim to a series of Boko Haram attacks which began on 3 January 2015.

In Baga, a densely populated town less than two square kilometres in size, approximately 620 structures were damaged or completely destroyed by fire. In Doron Baga over 3,100 structures were damaged or destroyed by fire affecting most of the four square kilometre town. Many of the wooden fishing boats along the shoreline, visible in the images taken on the 2 January, are no longer present in the 7 January images tallying with eye witnesses’ testimony that desperate residents fled by boat across Lake Chad. Thousands of people have fled the violence across the border to Chad and to other parts of Nigeria including Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. These people are adding to the hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people and refugees, who have already stretched the capacity of host communities and government authorities" the report said

The report included accounts of some villagers who gave accounts about the attack. One man who was interviewed said he saw a woman who was in labor attacked and killed with her unborn child ripped from her stomach

"Half of the baby boy is out and she died like this"the man said
Another said “They killed so many people. I saw maybe around 100 killed at that time in Baga. I ran to the bush. As we were running, they were shooting and killing.”he said
Amnesty International called on the Nigerian government to take all possible legal steps to restore security in the north-east and ensure protections of civilians.

“Up until now, the isolation of the Baga combined with the fact that Boko Haram remains in control of the area has meant that it has been very difficult to verify what happened there. Residents have not been able to return to bury the dead, let alone count their number. But through these satellite images combined with graphic testimonies a picture of what is likely to be Boko Haram’s deadliest attack ever is becoming clearer. This week, Nigeria’s Director of Defence Information stated that the number of people killed in Baga including Boko Haram fighters “has so far not exceeded about 150.  These images, together with the stories of those who survived the attack, suggest that the final death toll could be much higher than this figure.” the report says

I JOINED THE ROBBERY GANG TO RAISE ENOUGH MONEY FOR CHRISTMAS...SUSPECT

Chukwuemeka Obikachi, is a member of 4-man gang of armed robbers that has their hideout at Kuramo, Lekki, Lagos State.

He was arrested on the 6th December 2014,by a team of policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Command. The police are already on the trail of the fleeing gang members.

Obikachi said: “God wanted police to arrest me so that I would become a changed person. The man who took me out for robbery told me to go with him so that I could raise enough money for Christmas celebration.”

The Police recovered a snatched Highlander Jeep from the gang belonging to one Ismaila.

A police source said: “The owner of the Jeep, Mr. Ismaila, was attacked when he went to visit to someone at Lekki. He was waiting for the gate to be opened, when the gang suddenly attacked. He was even stripped of his clothes. The gang members decided to take him to an unknown destination. As they approached Chevron Gate, Mr. Ismaila struggled and pushed the car gear to a stop. He started shouting. Apparently scared, other members quickly fled, but Obikachi was not lucky. Police at Chevron Gate arrested him. Police searched him and recovered a barrette pistol with three live cartridges.”

The suspect, who said he used to ‘hustle’ to sell jeans at Yaba Market, explained that one of his customers, Henry, initiated him into the gang.

His words: “Mr. Henry is my customer. After buying clothes from me that day, he took me to a place and bought me drinks. He took me to Small Kuramo in Jakande area of Lekki. We were still in the beer parlour when two other men came to join us. They are Tunde and Chinedu. Mr. Henry said they were his colleagues. We were there till 7-8pm. It was Tunde who said we should go and meet Mr. Ismaila that he owed him some money.”

When they got to Ismaila’s house, he was standing at the gate. The gang stealthily approached and attacked him.

Tunde grabbed him by the trouser and collected his car key. He handed the key to Chinedu.

“I entered the front seat of the Jeep. On our way, we got to a certain place where the victim was well known.  He suddenly held the steering, put the car gear to a stop and started shouting. He held me was he was shouting.  Henry and others started running. People living around the area rushed out. They started beating me and took me to Chevron Police Post,” recounted Obikachi.

Speaking on the gun found on him, Obikachi said it belonged to Henry. He said Henry dropped it as he made good his escape.

He however added: “We used two guns. The guns were provided by Tunde. During the operation, Henry and Tunde used to handle the guns. I have worked with the gang only twice. The first was also at Ajah area. We snatched a car, but the owner recovered it from where we parked it. It was a Honda Accord and it has inbuilt security. The second operation is that one that landed me in police trouble.”

CRIME: 'ANOINTED' TO BE A PASTOR BUT AN ARMED ROBBERS GANG LEADER!!!

Sunday Ajewole, 32, father of three, self-acclaimed ‘anointed’ to be a Pastor, disclosed during interrogation at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, Lagos that he  is the gang’s armourer and he usually hid the gang’s weapons in an uncompleted building in Ayobo area of state, at the end of each operation.

According to the Police, the members of the gang had allegedly participated in several operations, where vehicles were snatched from their unsuspecting owners at gun point. Police sources hinted that “the gang robbed a bank in Ondo state recently and a bureau de- change office in Ayobo” .

They however met their waterloo, after the Lagos State Police Command got wind of their hideout somewhere around Gowon estate, consequent upon which the command boss, Kayode Aderanti, detailed operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad,SARS on their trail.
Operatives were said to have stormed a hotel in Gowon estate, Egbeda, where three suspected members of the gang were arrested. Three operational vehicles suspected to have been stolen , were reportedly recovered from them.

“ I know I have sinned . But God has forgiven me. Today, I am a changed man . I am not only born again, I am one of the Pastors in the cell! If I come out of this alive, I am going to continue preaching the gospel of God.
Yes! I was once a cultist. But that belongs to the past because God has forgiven me.

“I joined the cult four years ago after my friend, Tunde, initiated me. I was compelled to join because business was no more booming. I own a house in Ayobo, a suburb of Iyana Ipaja, which was built ten years ago, while I was working in a filling station. Three years ago, I sold my golf car and used the proceed to build a shop in front of my house.

“I went into supply of kerosene and diesel in Ayobo area of Lagos. But all of a sudden, things began to fall apart.

“I was arrested because my friend Omoloja, (one of the suspects ) brought a gun to the Aiye confraternity temple in Isefun Ayobo. Omoloja is a land grabber, he is also a member of our cult . When I asked him how he got the gun, he said it was meant for security purpose.
Owing to the fact that I was the third in command, the gun was kept in my possession . I kept it in an uncompleted building. But I never went to any operation with them. My involvement is simply because I kept their weapons”.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police , DSP said investigation into the case was still ongoing , with a view to apprehending other fleeing members of the gang.

Adams Oshiomole, Edo state governor, yesterday gave an executive order stopping the training of nursing students from the Igbinedion University at the state owned medical facilities, the Benin General Hospital and the Stella Obasanjo Hospital.
