I RESERVE MY COMMENT UNTIL 14TH OF FEBRUARY.......OBJ

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Wednesday in Kano refused to comment on the agitations surrounding the suspension of the February 14 General Elections, saying “I will comment on the election until 14th of February.”

Former President Obasanjo who was in Kano on the invitation of the Kano state governor Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to commission the multi billion naira flyover located at the Ibrahim Taiwo road, commended Kwankwaso for the giant stride he has achieved in the provision of basic infrastructure in the state.
He said; “Kwankwaso, it is very instructive to note that, and I will like to once again appreciate you for what you have done and what you are doing here.

“As I said, the experience you have acquired as minister of defence, will continue to help you, I hope that such quality will stand for you for future endeavours, because I believe God has not finished with you yet.

“My prayer and hope as you move along in life is that whatever your hand finds to do, you will do it in the best of your ability because the future is still beckoning.”

“Before I came to Kano this time, I have been hearing from the people who have been visiting Kano, that you have paid great attention to infrastructural development, I know of course you have also paid great attention to education and I said this to you.

“From what I see you doing in education, sending Kano citizens who can excel to different universities in Nigeria, opening a second university in the state and also sending them to universities abroad. I say this to you 10 to 15 years from now, when all this measures you have taken have matured and yielding fruits, I will not be surprise to find Kano men and women in all corners of Nigeria,” Obasanjo added

5 MEN ALLEGEDLY RAPED 14-YEAR OLD GIRL IN NASARAWA

Operatives of Nasarawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday paraded five suspects for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Mr Andekin Musa, the state Commandant, said the suspects, were labourers working at a construction site in Doma Local Government market.

He said four of the suspects had on Jan. 30, lured the girl into an uncompleted building beside the Doma market and took turns to rape her.

“The suspects raped her in an uncompleted building near the market. They lured her into the building saying they would buy her water but instead raped her,” Andekin said.

The commandant explained that the four suspects after their arrest implicated the fifth suspect who also confessed to raping the girl.

Musa said that officers of the command in Doma on a tip-off on Feb. 1 arrested two of the suspects near Tudun Laraba community in Doma.

He said the other three suspects were later arrested on the same day from the Doma market.

“The rape took place on Jan. 30, while their arrest was on Feb. 1. They are all around and they have all confessed to committing the offence.” he said.

Musa said the suspects, Wada Mohammed (37), Tanko Adamu (36), Abubakar Ogachi (40), Yusuf Ogar (35) and Samaila Ali (35) would be prosecuted after investigation had been concluded.

“From our investigation, the suspects have been in the habit of raping underage girls and we have been receiving reports of similar cases in that area,” he said.

One of the suspects, Samaila, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the devil pushed him to commit the crime as it was not in his habit to rape women.

“I have a wife and three children and I have never done this kind of thing before. It is the devil that pushed me to do it,” he said.

The father of the girl, Malam Umar Mohammed, thanked the NSCDC for promptly arresting the suspects and expressed optimism that justice would be done.

UPDATE: NYAKO BLASTS EFCC & JONATHAN ADMINISTRATION

The embattled former Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, on Wednesday blasted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] for declaring him and his son wanted; he described the anti-graft agency’s latest ambush on him as the last kicks of a dying horse, saying President Goodluck Jonathan, will soon be kicked out of office.

Mr. Nyako who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES through his media assistant, Ahmed Sajoh, also noted that the Jonathan administration is intimidated by the soaring support he (Nyako) has continued to get even after he left office.

“I am not aware of being declared wanted. But that is good,” Mr. Nyako said.

“If you are wanted by a rouge system, it means you are a good person. Has this government gone after anybody that is bad? They only run after the good people and allow the bad people to roam around them, live happily and enjoy whatever bad things they are doing.”

Mr. Nyako said he is not surprised at the latest action of the EFCC and noted that many more Nigerians will be declared wanted by the government.

He argued that the government is being intimidated by the mammoth crowd that turned out for the All Progressives Congress, APC, rally in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

According to him, the Jonathan government is afraid that even when he (Nyako) was no longer in office, the people of Adamawa State still love and support him.

He drew attention to how the crowd went wild with dancing when one of the songs eulogising the former governor was played at the APC rally in Yola, saying no amount of blackmail can stop the people from loving Mr. Nyako.

“When the time comes for them to be declared wanted nobody will sympathise with them,” he concluded.

TOUCHING STORY: CHURCH RETURNS N.5MILLION TITHEN ELDERLY WOMAN

The story of Mrs. Caroline Orugude, a retired teacher from Bayelsa in Southern Nigeria, deserves to be mentioning on this blog. It is a case of someone who knows how to say thank you to her creator. As she gently made her way to the altar of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), she spoke with carefully chosen words: “What brought me here is the urge to testify of the goodness of God in my life,” she began. Every ear zeroed in, as she narrated how she had retired from her job in June, 2012 and was forced to wait many months for her gratuity that was supposed to have been paid immediately. She said: “There was nothing much we could do except pray because the pension system is unreliable. So, I kept praying for almost two years about this.”

After she was introduced by a family member to Emmanuel TV, her mindset began to change. “I witnessed the goodness of the Lord and how the God of T.B. Joshua helps people to achieve their goals,” said Mrs. Orugude. A month before this landmark testimony, the elderly lady began to change her prayer points, aligning them with what she saw on Emmanuel TV.

When praying, she would place the documents for the gratuity on the screen of Emmanuel TV, thanking God for His mercy. Then the mighty hand of God touched her!
Within two weeks, she received a call from the treasury, asking her to go to the capital city, Abuja. “I said, ‘Wow! Is it for the gratuity?’ They said, ‘Yes’. Brethren, I knelt down. The joy in me that day, I cannot express it. I said, ‘thank You, Lord. I am going to Lagos’. I decided when I got the money, I would come here [to The SCOAN] to appreciate the Lord,” she said.

Then, while everyone including the millions of viewers across the world watched, the frail woman made a statement that stunned all: “I am here with the small sum of 500,000 naira, to give to the man of God and The SCOAN, as my tithe.” Mrs. Orugude’s declaration soon filled the Church-gone-silent with gasps of astonishment.

A mark had been made! At her age, no one would have expected her to part with such a huge amount of money, at a time when she needed it most. The action could not pass unnoticed by the Man of God, T.B. Joshua. His response to the touching gesture was equally surprising.

He said: “Yes, it is written in the Bible that we should pay tithe, but how can we collect tithe from widows and the aged who are supposed to be under our care? Remember, she has stopped working. She needs our care for the rest of her life. These are the women we should be feeding and taking care of. She is our mother; she is my mother too.”

The man of God then announced that instead of receiving Mrs. Orugude’s tithe, he would support her with an additional 500,000 naira, as a gift to take care of her.

Explaining why he took such a unique stance, T.B. Joshua spoke about the marks of a genuine servant of God: “When God calls a man or woman, what they will eat, what they will use and everything they need for their journey will be provided abundantly by God, because God wants honour and respect for His anointed ones,” he said.

“When a minister begins to depend on tithes, you know he is not a minister of God. It is written that offerings and tithes are very important to the house of God, but a minister of God who is called by God Almighty should not depend on offerings and tithes. Tithe is between you and your God.

“This is a message to ministers of God all over the world. When we collect tithes, we should know those whom we collect them from. Don’t force anybody – it is between them and God. Since the Bible says the door of blessings will open, leave them to God. It is not you that opens the door of blessing. If someone is not giving the right tithe, he will not receive anything from God, and if he is doing the right thing, he will receive from God. Let us worship the Giver of money, not money,” the Prophet said.

This example might cause you to smile but it is just part of the move Prophet T.B. Joshua has been making, along with Emmanuel TV Partners, to fulfil the divine obligation, which requires all Christians to help the elderly.

Every Sunday at The SCOAN, the elderly are allocated a section in the church where they enjoy the company and fellowship of their peers during the service. Additionally, free transportation in luxurious buses is provided to and from their homes, courtesy of T.B. Joshua and Emmanuel TV Partners. A welfare programme is also in operation, granting a monthly allowance, supplies and foodstuffs to each of the elderly in the church.

The Bible makes it very clear that it is not a crime to be old; it is the grace of God. Psalm 91:14-16 says: “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”

The elderly nurtured and reared us in love, care and warmth. This is the time to reciprocate their love, care and tenderness, now that they are too old to meet their needs unaided. Any community or nation that neglects their old ones, neglects God because it is the will of God to grow old (Isaiah 46:3-4).

Where are your elderly? Care for them and you shall reach old age
