ELECTION POSTPONEMENT IS HIGHLY PROVOCATIVE...OYEGUN

The APC’s national chairman, Chief John E. K. Odigie-Oyegun, in his response to The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) decision to postpone the elections by six weeks is  “highly provocative”.

“The All Progressives Congress, APC has just heard over the news media that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to postpone the elections by six weeks on the strength of a letter by the security chiefs that they cannot provide security for the elections nationwide because of the commitment of its resources to fight insurgency in the north eastern part of the country.

“This is clearly a major setback for Nigerian democracy, and our Party is meeting in emergency session to study its implications and will inform Nigerians of its decisions in the next few days.

“In the meantime though what has happened is highly provocative, I strongly appeal to all Nigerians to remain calm and desist from violence and any activity which will compound this unfortunate development. We must not fall into this obvious trap. Change we must. They can only delay it; No one can stop it.

“I want to assure all Nigerians that the All Progressives Congress will not abandon its commitment to change and will sustain the struggle to establish a new Nigeria.”
It should be recalled that the federal government had previously requested the INEC to shift the elections for 6 weeks over security threats.

The APC several times expressed its strong discontent with the idea of an elections postponement, alleging that the President is merely scared of losing. According to the opposition, “the only person who is not prepared for the election appears to be President Jonathan”.

REVEALED: HOW WE RIGGED EKITI'S GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN FAVOUR OF PDP....CAPTAIN SAGIR

Self-exiled Captain Sagir Koli of the 32nd Artillery Brigade in Ekiti State has come out to authenticate his claim.

In an interview by Sahara TV, Koli, narrated how soldiers were allegedly deployed in Ekiti to manipulate June 21,2014, governorship election  in favor of the ruling party.

The recording purportedly captured Fayose; Brig.-Gen. Aliyu Momoh, who was in charge of the election; Osun PDP governorship candidate, Senator IyiolaOmisore; Minister for Police Affairs, Jelili Adesinyan; and former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, in a meeting where they allegedly gave directives to the military to favour the PDP.

He stated that none of Fayose, Obanikoro and other People Democratic Party leaders could deny being at the meeting.

He also said, “It came as a surprise to us. Three weeks to the election, Brig.-Gen. (Aliyu) Momoh was brought in. When he came, he asked us to work with him. When we entered Ekiti State, we started to see a different thing. The commander said this is his direction and we had to follow him.

“He said he was working for the Presidency. He said it categorically. ‘Look, I’m working for the Presidency and anything I am doing, follow my directions. That was what necessitated the compromise in the election.

“The commander asked all the troops to work with Peoples Democratic Party thugs to make sure that his given assignment was done.”
Koli said he played an advisory role in the election as an intelligence officer. He said there were tactical commanders on ground that covered the 16 local government areas of the state.

“Each local government area was assigned a major or a captain, with soldiers to cover those areas adequately. Those tactical commanders were given specific directives on what to do. The PDP and its teams had what they called ‘contacts’; they were PDP supporters and thugs.

“What the commanders were ordered to do was to work directly with those contacts and make sure that whatever those contacts wanted, they should do it. That was the directive. After giving the directive, we moved round the 16 LGAs to ensure compliance by the tactical commanders,” he said.
He added, “They (security operatives) were assembled at the Forward Operational Base adjacent the Ekiti State Government House. He (Fayose) was given a task force. The task force was composed of military components, the Police, Mobile Police Force and security operatives from the DSS (Department of State Security). They were asked to go and work with the PDP contacts in the 16 LGAs.

“Additionally, a sticker was designed and a hand band. On election days, ordinarily and constitutionally, we restrict movements from 06:00 to 18:00 hours. Those stickers were given to PDP supporters; that anybody or any vehicle seen with that sticker should be allowed unlimited access on the Election Day, and that was what was done

KOROTALK:BOKO HARAM IS AS A RESULT OF LACK PROPER EDUCATION

Musiliu Obanikoro, ex- Minister of State for Defence, has said there wouldn't have been Boko Haram insurgents in the country if only Northern leaders had invested heavily in education and got Northerners educated.

Obanikoro made this statement at the inauguration of a civic centre built by a member of the House of Representatives, Abiodun Akinlade, at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

ELECTIONS WILL NOT BE POSTPONE....SAYS COUNCIL OF STATE

The Council of State meeting has officially resolved that the 2015 general election scheduled for Feb. 14th, will not be postpone. Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, said>>>>>

“It was one of an unusual Council of State meeting that took over 7 hours deliberating on a very sensitive issue as to whether INEC is prepared for the elections or not and whether there is need for the change of dates of these elections. INEC has said they are very ready to conduct these elections and the security agencies have shown concerns about certain local governments where they have security challenges. But INEC has the power to conduct elections including fixing dates of elections.
The Council rose that INEC should then inform the nation as to their preparedness and proceed to conduct the elections. The Council has asked INEC to perform its civic responsibility which is to conduct election. That is what we rose to agree. It was a very challenging moment and INEC has reaffirmed severally that they are ready.

But because of the concerns of the security agencies in few local governments, Council asked INEC to go and perform its civic responsibility. There is no decision as to change of dates or postponement at all…. Jega has reassured us that they are equal to the task. In fact, they are more prepared than they were in 2011.” he said
