'WE NEVER ASKED OLISE FOR MONEY IN EXCHANGE FOR GOOD ARTICLES' -SWAN

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has described Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh as a pathological liar who doesn't have the integrity to lead the National team and who always looks for excuses to justify his incompetence as the Super Eagles coach. This comes on the back of a 7-day ultimatum given by the body to the Super Eagles coach after he alleged that some journalists approached him to ask for monetary favour in exchange for good articles and stories written about him.

“Sunday Oliseh has displayed to the whole world that he does not have the capability of being trusted with the Senior National Team of a great football playing nation like Nigeria and lacks the integrity whatsoever as an individual to continue to parade himself as the head coach of the Super Eagles,”the statement signed by the Associations Secretary General read.

Over a week ago the Sports Writers body released this statement;

"Our attention has been drawn to a recent statement credited to the Head Coach of the Super Eagles Mr.Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh that some members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) have been approaching him requesting for money to enable them write favourable reports for him, and that some are acting as agents requesting that he invites certain players to camp so that they can do business with them.

"The leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in its quest to ensure continous sanity in the profession, and for the purpose of the change mantra which is gradually revolving round every aspect of the economy, is requesting that the Head Coach names these journalists that approached him within the next seven days. "This has become imperative considering the recent bashing the Sports Writers have been receiving from the NFF and its employees.

It would be recalled that the NFF President only recently at the National Assembly took a swipe on the Sports Writers for being the brain behind their inabilities to secure sponsors for the Federation.'' "Henceforth, SWAN would no longer fold its arms and watch people blame their misfortune on the Association. We have, as major stakeholders, contributed positively to the development of sports in the country, and would no longer tolerate people dragging SWAN in their maladministration technical ineptitude. "We remain committed to sports development in Nigeria."

NB: I don’t trust SWAN, they can request for gratification…

One of the gold merchants in the market. Rabiu Ismaila Funtuwa, said the old price for selling was N8,200 while buying was N9,000. He attributed the rush to sell gold to the increase in the price of selling to N10,500 and buying N13,500.

“We have received so many women in the market in the past few days due to increase in the price for selling‎. I just hope they make good use of the money. ALI MODU SHERIF HAS A LINK WITH BOKO HARAM -FFK INSISTING

Femi Fani Kayode, former spokesperson of PDP Presidential campaign & former Aviation Minister, is still insisting that Ali Modu Sheriff, the new PDP chairman and former Borno state governor, has a link with Boko Haram. Speaking on Channels TV yesterday night, Fani-Kayode said that the former governor was intrinsically linked to the insurgency group...

“In terms of his person, he is intrinsically linked with Boko Haram. At the inception, he was one of those that created the Boko Haram and terrorized our nation. A man that is so badly stained, has such antecedents cannot be a leader of a serious political party.

This is somebody I have known for many years since we were both in the NRC in the early 90s. I must tell you that if he wants to convince the world that he has nothing to do with Boko Haram, let him explain his relationship with Mohammed Yusuf, the man who started Boko Haram and who was murder in mysterious circumstance by the police. Let him tell us who he was using as his local thug whilst he was two-time Governor of Borno State.

Let him tell us that it was not Mohammed Yusuf that was leading the thugs and that he was not funding them. Let him tell us who asked Yar’Adua to send the soldiers and kill as many people as possible of the Boko Haram group simply because he was tired of them and he was fed up with giving them money,” he said

'I WON'T DEVALUE THE NAIRA'- PRESIDENT BUHARI

While speaking at the just concluded Business for Africa, Egypt and the World Forum held in Egypt yesterday February 20th, President Muhammadu Buhari reiterated his stance against the devaluation of the Naira

"Developed countries are competing among themselves and when they devalue they compete better and manufacture and export more. But we are not competing and exporting but importing everything including toothpicks.

So, why should we devalue our currency?. We want to be more productive and self-sufficient in food and other basic things such as clothing. For our government, we like to encourage local production and efficiency.”he said

He added that those who have developed taste for foreign luxury goods should continue to pay for them rather pressure government to devalue the Naira
