RELEASED STUDENTS AND STAFF OF NIGERIAN-TURKISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL VISITS GOV.AMOSUN

After the release of its pupils and officials,Mr Orhan Kertom, Managing Director , Nigerian Turkish Int'l College (NTIC)  Isheri, Ogun State, said their joy knew no bounds when the victims were freed.

He spoke at the Oke-Mosan Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital when Governor Ibikunle Amosun received him, the freed pupils and staff and parents.

Kertom praised President Muhammadu Buhari, the security agencies and Governor Amosun for their support that led to the victims’ safe return

“It was very difficult time for all of us; for 11 days, we had sleepless nights but we were full of hopes and prayed.

“I will like to thank the President Muhammadu Buhari; Governor Amosun, Inspector General of Police, Director General of Department of State Service, Chief of Army Staff and all national security agencies for their continuous effort and support.

“I also want to use this medium to talk about our parents because since that night we’ve always felt their presence next to us. They have shown great, tremendous solidarity and and thank God that it is all over. Thank you very much once again Your Excellency.”


CP Iliyasu said: “The Inspector-General of Police mandated me to make a very clear view; it’s an ongoing operation between us with the military and the state services and I’m assuring you sir that the history of this state and the standard of this state as a peaceful state, as a safe and secure state will definitely continue to be in the history of this nation.

“Nobody would come and destroy the peace of this state; this is not a place that kind of a thing would be orchestrated. We are resolute, we are committed to the safety and security of not only the citizens of this state but to our national duty.

“I hereby present to you the management of the school and the kidnapped victims for your reception sir. Thank you for all your support throughout this period. The huge support, the huge backbone that you have given our operation that was carried out led to the success of what we are seeing today.”

An abducted pupil’s father, Steve Nwosu, Deputy MD of The Sun, hailed the security chiefs and all who worked for the safe rescue of the victims.

He said: “We were all in this together and we are very happy as parents that it has turned out the way it has turned out. Yes, even if anybody has any misgivings, the important thing is the result and we are very happy.

“The governor, we must thank you for everything you did, we got to know indirectly, we knew what was happening.

“As a media person, I understand one or two things that was happening. On behalf of the parents and the children, we want to say a big thank you to everybody that participated in bringing back these children and we say may none of you experience what we experienced.”

MESSY ADULTERY: MAN ALLEGEDLY KILLED HIS LOVER ...HIS RIVAL AND POISONED HIMSELF IN LAGOS



An engineer,identified as Ogundare, residents on Ebijimi Street in the Meiran area of Lagos   allegedly killed his lover, his rival and poisoned himself  !

Accotding to source, a woman, named  Oriyomi Fola, a divorcee known as Iya Corner, operated a beer parlor on the street and had three children.

It was learnt that the engineer,  opened the shop for the woman and rented an apartment for her in the Agbado area.

Around 9am on Sunday, Ogundare, reportedly stormed the shop with a gallon of petrol, poured it on Ms Fola and his rival, Akinade Omole, aka Currency, and set them ablaze.

The fire was also said to have spread to Ogundare’s hand while fleeing the scene. It was learnt that Omole and Fola died in a hospital in the community on Monday from the burns.

On hearing of the death of the duo, Ogundare, who had gone into hiding, poisoned himself.

A resident, who gave his name as Femi, told Punch that Ogundare had seen the Highlander Jeep that Omole parked at a filling station metres away from the beer parlour and had trailed him.

Femi said, “The engineer bought fuel in a jerrycan and headed for Iya Corner’s shop. I never thought he had any sinister motive. On getting there, he met Iya Corner and Currency chatting as Currency ate eba.

“He poured the fuel on them and set them abalze. The fire caught him in the hand but he escaped. By the time people assisted Iya Corner and Currency to put out the fire, they had suffered serious burns. Currency’s private parts were affected. They died on Monday.”

An eyewitness, Jacob Oyedeji, said he was about going to bed on the day when he heard some people calling for help.

He said, “I rushed out to know what happened only to see Currency and Iya Corner engulfed in flames. Policemen from the Meiran division came that evening. It was the following day that they were declared dead.”

Another resident, Yusuf Ajibola, said “The engineer knew Currency and Iya Corner were in a relationship. He warned the woman to back out or be ready to forfeit the shop he opened for her, but she refused.

“During the Yuletide, Engineer went to the shop and disrupted it. Currency and the woman got him arrested and he was detained by the police. He felt humiliated because he had spent a lot of money on the woman,” he added.

A shop owner, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the incident is a disgrace to the families of the three parties involved, adding that Currency was supposed to be installed as a chief in his village in Oyo State in a few weeks’ time.

He said, “The two men are married with children. The engineer built a house in the Obadeyi area and three of his children are graduates. I was surprised that he conducted himself in such a manner. The woman’s first child has three children and one of them, Wunmi, recently graduated. She narrowly escaped being consumed by the fire that evening.

“I learnt yesterday (Tuesday) that the engineer took poison and he died. However, a friend just told me today that he was still alive but in a critical condition at a hospital.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the incident, said the police had launched a manhunt for Ogundare.

TRAGIC GAS EXPLOSION IN ABEOKUTA KILLS 2 ...(PHOTOS)


 A tragic explosion occurred in Adigbe area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. Sadly, two persons were confirmed dead on the spot while several others were injured.

It was gathered that a welder was said to be carrying out a repair work at RAB Engineering Petrol Station in the area, which is believed to have triggered the fire.

The impact triggered a raging fire which razed some shops and a motorcycle near the scene before the operatives of the State Fire Service could rescue the situation.

The Ogun State Director of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Shakiru Adebakin, told journalists that the fire was caused by a man-made error that could have been averted if the owner of the filling station had adopted simple safety precaution.




65-YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR RAPING TWO MINORS AGED 8 &10 !

The men of the Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Alosuposo Louis,65,  for allegedly defiling two minors, aged 10 and eight respectively.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the complainant claimed to have noticed a strange behaviour from her daughter, which made her to interrogate the girl only for her to discover that the suspect had had defiled her.


He said the Divisional Police Officer, Ayetoro Police Division, Makinde Kayode, led a team of policemen to arrest the suspect.

Oyeyemi, said further investigation revealed that the suspect had defiled another minor aged eight.

He said, “The suspect has confessed to the crime, and the two victims have been taken to the Ayetoro General Hospital for treatment.”

EKO O NI BAJE : 705 BENEFICIARIES RECEIVED VARIOUS AMOUNTS FROM LAGOS STATE EMPLOYMENT TRUST FUND !


The Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has just taken to social media to share photos and announce that 'today, 705 beneficiaries received various amounts of money ranging from N50,000 to N5,000,000 totaling almost N1bn from the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund'.

He continues to say, 'These loans have been provided at a very affordable rate of 5% per annum, cheaper than the prevailing bank interest rates. This is our modest way of reflating the Lagos economy, creating jobs and getting our youths gainfully occupied'.


US-BASED NIGERIAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AT ATLANTA AIRRORT

A Nigerian man was arrested for possession of child pornography at Hartsfield –Jackson Atlanta International Airport last Friday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said in a statement that Elvis Henry Idada, 31, was arrested after he arrived on a flight from Nigeria.

During a secondary examination, CBP officers discovered alleged child pornography in a cell phone in Idada’s possession. CBP officers arrested Idada and turned him over to Clayton County Police to face child exploitation charges.

"Sexual exploitation of children shocks and offends the common decency of our society," said Carey Davis, CBP Port Director for the Area Port of Atlanta. "We remain vigilant and prepared to detect and intercept all persons, baggage and merchandise that do not comply with our laws."
