PHOTOS:MAN KILLED BY HERBALIST AFTER PAYING N400,000 FOR MONEY RITUAL IN OSUN STATE

Saheed Adekunle, 34,a  herbalist,  has been arrested by men of the Osun State Police Command for allegedly killing a vulcaniser.

He was alleged to have killed Oderinde Sunday after collecting the sum of N400,000 from him for ritual money making.

The deceased was said to have approached Adekunle for rituals that would enable him to become wealthy and the herbalist had billed him the sum of N4000,000, for the services, which he paid.

He who paid the herbalist the money since January, had waited till March without experiencing any sign of prosperity.

Against this backdrop, the deceased sought for a refund of the money he paid.

However, Adekunle reneged on his promise, which resulted in a fight between him and the deceased.

Adekunle, in the ensuing fight allegedly picked up a big stone while the deceased smashed the deceased on his head.

Not done with his bleeding client, the suspect was said to have taken a cable, with which he strangled Sunday to death.

On noticing that Sunday was dead, the suspect was said to have put his remains in a big bag and dumped it on Ibokun Road at OSBC area of the town.

The brutalized man sitting, simply identified as James, is a house cleaner who stole $2,600 from his employers. Luckily, they were able to recover $1,300 from him. The balance was however already spent with his girlfriend receiving more than his family. James sent ₦5000 home to his mother in Aba, His brother, ₦7000, His wife and two kids, ₦35000, a friend $600 and his girlfriend, $1000.

VETERAN ACTOR OLUMIDE BAKARE DIED WITHOUT REAPING THE FRUIT OF HIS LABOUR~~ DELE ODULE

Dele Odule, actor and President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria lamented that 65-year-old, Veteran actor, Olumide Bakare  died without reaping the fruits of his labour.

He said, “It is very saddening. I know that death is inevitable and everybody would go someday. The most unfortunate thing about his death is that he did not reap the fruits of his labour. He never enjoyed the dividends of stardom. What is the essence of being very popular without having money to take care of himself? He spent his life entertaining people and making them happy and I’m sad that his life ended that way.

“He was a member of tampan and we would try to work out some things to immortalise him so that people wouldn’t forget him easily because he made a lot of contributions to the industry.”


In a similar vein, ace role-interpreter, Kareem Adepoju, aka Baba Wande, expressed shock at Bakare’s death.

“I was very saddened when I heard the news of his death because he was a young man. I heard that he was sick and had recovered so I was shocked to learn that he was dead.

“He was a very good person and we worked together several times during his lifetime. He was a very jovial and humorous person who was committed to his job. We still worked together recently and he doesn’t like bothering people whenever he was on location,”

RESIDENTS ESCAPE DEATH AS PETROL TANKER FALLS IN AKURE

Hundreds of residents and traders, on Saturday, escaped death when a 33,000-litre  petrol tanker fell and spilled its content at the busy Isinkan Roundabout in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The driver of the tanker was said to be on his way to the NNPC petrol station in Akure to dislodge its content when the accident occurred. Officers of the Fire Service were said to have arrived early enough to prevent a conflagration.

Blessing Olowolawi, an eyewitness, said  the accident happened at about 7 am,on Saturday morning  as the driver sought to negotiate a bend, and  the driver fled the scene immediately after the tanker toppled over out of fear being lynched by residents of the area.

Miss Olowolawi added that the accident caused a massive traffic gridlock on the road, which connects the Arakale, a major street, to and Oba Adesida Market.

"Vehicular movement was heavily impeded immediately after the incident. Many residents, including traders, trooped to the scene to scoop fuel," she said.

POLICE ARRESTS TWO MEN WHO SPECIALIZED IN ROBBING WOMEN LIVING ALONE

The Abia State Police Command has arrested two men, who specialized in robbing women who live alone at the Federal Low Cost Housing Estate, Umuahia.

The two men, Obinna Anyanwu and Chinedu Awa, were alleged to have raided and robbed the homes of several women, including Mrs Beatrice Okpi.

They were further alleged to have once carried out robbery operations in the estate for two days.
The police said that the suspects burgled the homes of women they knew to be living alone and carted away their clothing and kitchen utensils.

Luck, however, ran out on the suspects after they raided the home of Uche Jonathan, also residing in that estate and tried to bolt with two wielding machines valued at N46, 000.00.  The man raised the alarm and they were arrested.The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade, said:

“These same suspects ransacked the shop of Emeka Aharaumunna,  at the estate and carted away six generating plants valued at N450,000. They also storm the house of Pastor Gabriel Nwankwo, in the same estate and fire gunshots in an attempt to break into the victim’s house to rob.”
Oyebade said that the suspects were arrested following the intervention of the Neighbourhood Watch.
He said that men of the Neighbourhood Watch apprehended and handed the suspects over to the police.

He further said that the suspects had already confessed to carrying out series of robberies at Mrs Okpi’s house in Ohafia, where their ringleader resides.
Items recovered by the police from the suspects include, glass table, Tiger generating plant, two bed mattresses, one TV set, two DVD and among others.
Confessing to the crime, Obinna said that he was initiated by his friend name, Flex.  Obinna added: “I have been involved in robbery operations five times.”

 Chinedu,  Awa alias Pastor, from Ndi Uduma Awoke, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, said: “I’m not part of the gang. I only bought some stolen items from them. I didn’t know the items were stolen ones.”

Funke Akindele and her crew were yesterday, Saturday, April 22, attacked by yet another set of touts who stormed their movie location.

The comic actress took to her IG page to share the news as she narrated how the men disrupted their set at Iraboko Awoyaya. She also noted that the continual attack has taken its toll on her.
