LADY BURNS HERSELF AND FIANCE TO DEATH IN A VIOLENT RELATIONSHIP

John Emeka Obodoechina, 36. was  allegedly set ablaze by the girl he had wanted to marry. It was gathered that Blessing, who has since passed on, burnt her lover to death because the latter decided to quit the relationship.

John was said to have intimated the girl of his intentions to meet with her family, but the meeting was suspended at the instance of the lady’s family.

A relative of John’s, who pleaded anonymity, informed the reporter that over time, John started noticing some unacceptable behaviour from Blessing. Some of their neighbours also reported that at the slightest misunderstanding, Blessing would lock the door, pull a kitchen knife and threaten to stab John.

John’s elder brother, Chief Obodoechina snr, explained that John told him that he had met Blessing in his office, and that he had been helping Blessing in the business she was doing with the company from where they became intimate.

“After about three months, Blessing started taking some of her belongings into John’s place. At that time Blessing did not know whether anyone was John’s sister or colleague in the office, so any calls from a female caller was seen as a taboo. That was when John started introducing Blessing to his sisters and colleagues. But when all that also failed to guarantee peace, John felt that marriage between Blessing and himself might be disastrous, so he decided to end the relationship. He therefore informed Blessing that both of them should part ways in peace. But Blessing, apparently didn’t like the idea. There was a day John came to my house at an odd hour and complained bitterly about Blessing. I advised him that if they were not compatible, they should go their separate ways before something dreadful would happen.

It was gathered that when John couldn’t bear it any longer, he called Blessing and told her to relocate elsewhere, promising to give her some money to help her get another apartment.

The situation climaxed on August 1. That was the day John gave Blessing N100, 000 to help her secure an apartment, it was gathered. One of the neighbours who pleaded anonymity said John returned from work that morning and, while washing his clothes, would intermittently shout ‘Jesus.’ He said he heard him scream like that up to three times. Another neighbour also said he overheard John and Blessing talking after he had given her N100,000.00 to enable her relocate.

John’s sister, Angela Ibrahim who lives in Badagry, said that morning, she was invited to John’s office by the management of the African Fertilizer &a Chemicals (Big) Ltd in Agbara, Ogun State. She said she was aware that since the previous week, John had been going to the wharf to clear the company’s goods and would always stay there overnight. He would then come home in the morning and to observe some rest before proceeding to the office.

She said the invitation surprised her, and she quickly raced to the office. She said further:
“There, I was told that Blessing Ohare Ukhurebor, a girl from Edo State, who John had wanted to marry, burnt him alive. I could not understand that because it was not up to four days that the girl left my house and did not show any signs of an impending violence. That was when I started calling my brothers. When we got to John’s house, we saw John bent on the bed, totally burnt. There was no electricity and the gas cooker in the kitchen was not affected. The two phones were there. There were no signs that the gas cooker or phone caused the fire. It was only John and the area he was sleeping that was burnt. The neighbours that we met told us that some people had taken Blessing out, as she was also affected. But they said she was not dead. The neighbours went and reported the incident to the Baale of the area who ordered some of the palace chiefs and John’s neighbours to report the incident to the police.

“On getting to the Police Station in Agbara, the police said they could not do anything unless a relation of the deceased was around. When my brothers came, initially they could not hold themselves to follow the processes of investigation. After some logistics and protocols at the police station, the corpse was taken to the Badagry General Hospital for preservation in the morgue. All our efforts to get to see Blessing to know how she was affected and find out what happened were rebuffed by Blessing’s uncle who was rather threatening us. A few days after John’s interment, we got a call from the same Blessing’s uncle, telling us that Blessing had also died.”

Angela also explained that Blessing was a very violent woman while the lady dated John. She informed that John confided in her that since he made his intentions known to her she became agitated.
“She had her chance on August 1, by 7:45am, while John was sleeping, That was when Blessing, who already had her plans worked out, poured fuel on John and lit the match. Unfortunately, because fuel is inflammable, she was also affected,” Angela lamented.

EVANS WAS FORCED TO PLEAD GUILTY~~HIS LAWYER

Barrister Olukoya Ogungbeje, the counsel to the notorious Kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka  Evans, has alleged that his client was forced to plead guilty.

In a statement issued after Evans pleaded guilty at his arraignment, the lawyer said his client would change his plea to not guilty at the resumed hearing on October 19.

The statement reads:

"It must be noted that our client had been in police custody since 10th of June 2017 till date and his lawyer and family members have been denied access to him.

"His arraignment was brought to our attention through the social media platform. We rushed to court in a bid to confer with our client before the commencement of proceedings but the Police denied us access to him.

"We sought for adjournment to enable us confer with our client in line with the provisions of Section 36(6) (2) of the Constitution but same was turned down by the court.

"Moreso, the information/charge sheet was served on us in open court on the same day of arraignment."

According to Ogungbeje, his client informed him of his intention to change his plea.

"After the purported guilty plea of our client and the court rose, our client told us clearly that the police told him to plead guilty failing which the police will kill him.

"This is definitely unconstitutional and we intend to challenge this unconstitutional procedure of hoodwinking, unduly influencing, brainwashing and coercing an accused into entering a guilty plea against his wish and freewill.

"Our client pointedly told us that being informed now, he will change his 'police motivated guilty plea' to 'not guilty' at the next adjourned date.

"It is settled law that plea of guilty must be made voluntarily and devoid of any influence, coercion and manipulation.

"We have a responsibility to assist the cause of justice in accordance with the law."

Evans as well as two of the five suspects arraigned with him, pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of kidnapping and conspiracy brought against them.

Those arraigned with him were — Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Okwuchukwu Nwachuckwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Chukwunonso Aduba.

Hakeem Oshodi, the judge who presided over the case, had ordered that they be remanded in Kirikiri prison.

Hassan Lawan, 40,has been apprehended for allegedly killing  his friend, Zilani Yusuf, 35, who lent him N50,000 in Bari, Kano State, after the deceased asked him to repay the loan.

"SENATOR BURUJI KASHAMU WANT ME DEAD"~~ GBENGA DANIEL

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Ogun State Governor,  has cried out over fear of being assassinated.

In the petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Mr. Lawal Daura., Daniel accused a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Senator representing Ogun East, Senator Buruji Kashamu, of being behind the alleged plot.

Kashamu on his part has, however, denied the allegation, accusing the former governor of having a sinister plot against him. He added it was Daniel's plan to steer everyone's attention from his plan to later attack him.

Daniel in the petition, titled, “Assassination Attempt on my Person; Main Suspect, Senator Buruji Kashamu,” said that five hefty men, two of whom were in military uniforms and three others in black clothes, were at his residence in Maitama, Abuja on Thursday around 9:13 pm, and asked that the gate be opened for them.

The petition read in part, “The gatekeeper peeped through the pedestrian gate, asking for their identities and mission, they refused to wind down their car window. The gatekeeper then opened the pedestrian gate to continue with his enquiries.

“They asked for his boss ‘OGD’ (the acronym for my full name, Otunba Gbenga Daniel) and he told them that I was not at home. The five men instantly alighted from the car and pushed the gatekeeper inside the compound. They started beating him, saying he was lying and that they had information that I was at home.

“They thereafter asked him how many policemen were in the house and he told them that there were five. They asked him to show them where the policemen were. He led them to the Boys’ Quarters, where they found one of the policemen lying down. Then they asked for his service gun.

“He told them that it was not with him, then they pushed him inside the toilet and locked the door. They returned to the gatekeeper and told him to start showing them round the house, and where the other policemen were. They insisted that they had accurate information that ‘OGD’ was in Abuja and at home.”

He continued saying the men were armed with pistols or shotguns, while one of them, who allegedly had a bigger gun, stood at the gate to watch as the operation continued.

He also alleged that Kashamu was the number one suspect in the alleged plan to kill him, adding that those sent to kill him were not aware that he had left Abuja for Ibadan to attend a political meeting.

He said the petition was written to alert the “the police authorities about the evil intention of Senator Buruji Kashamu” and to request for additional security protection.

“I want to inform the Nigeria Police and security agencies that they should put Buruji Kashamu on security watch list and under strict surveillance.”

Kashamu, however, told our correspondent that Daniel was lying, saying he had never been involved in violence in his life.

He said, “I have never been involved in any violence. It is Daniel who is into violence. He is merely playing politics, and his actions are because of Ogun and South-West politics and the PDP.

“I was aware that he was at Ibadan with the Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, while I was in my office in Lagos. He knows my house and we have been to each other’s houses on many occasions.

“The petition is all lies. It doesn’t make sense at all. I hope he’s not planning to attack and kill me. He could be using this as an opportunity to kill me. I can’t kill or be involved in any crisis, but I can only use the courts to protect myself. Daniel knows this.”
Kasumu, has now called on the security agencies to investigate the claim by the former governor, adding that at the end of the day, the truth would prevail.
