DISCRIMINATION AGAINST BLACK AFRICANS IN CHINA "NO BE TODAY" (SEE PHOTOs)

Discrimination tendencies against black africans have not just started in China !This isn’t the first time that racism towards Africans has reared its ugly head in China. In 2017, a photographer, Yu Huiping who is also the chairman of a local construction company, at the Hubei Provincial Museum exhibits facial features of African children and adults next to animals

Reflecting on his visits to Africa,in a photo exhibition titled “This is Africa,”   compare the facial features of African children and adults next to animals; and he said. “It’s to remind people that we shouldn’t forget where we come from.”

He told Chinese media ahead of the exhibit’s opening, “I often wonder, how do we build an order and balance the ecology system between human and nature? I think, record, explore, and communicate with the unique perspective and sensitivity of a photographer.”

“It’s not shocking. Africans are not strangers to racism here in China or elsewhere. But it is sad that despite deepening economic connections and interactions between Chinese and Africans, there’s still clearly so much racism and lack of cultural understanding,” says Zahra Baitie, a Ghanaian master’s student at Tsinghua University studying global affairs.

ABBA KYARI : CABAL OR NOT CABAL

Mallam Abba Kyari, was a banker, lawyer and journalist, at the time of his death, he was the Chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
After his demised, Nigerians came out to say lots of negative and positive things about this controversial figure.

Kano state Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Mu’azu Magaji wrote on his Facebook wall, “Win-win… Nigeria is free and Abba Kyari ya mutu a cikin annoba… Mutuwar Shahada in Har da Imani mutum ya cika!” meaning “Win-win… Nigeria is free and Abba Kyari died in a disastrous way without faith.”

Bashir Othman Tofa, presidential candidate in the  June 12, 1993 election, says his  opinion of Abba Kyari changed with just one incident.
He said,“I am the chairman of a group we named, ‘Friends of Democracy.’ “We discuss much on security and other matters. During one of our extensive meetings on a Thursday, I asked if one of us who knew Mal. Abba could make an appointment for us any time the following day, Friday. One of us called him at about 8pm and said to him, ‘Our Chairman asked if you could give us an appointment to see you tomorrow to discuss some vital national issues with you.’

“When Mal. Abba enquired who the chairman was, and was told that it was Alhaji Bashir Tofa, he paused and then said Friday was too tight, but he would be willing to come to where I wanted at 10pm that day. And, at 10pm sharp, Mal. Abba was there. And at 10pm, my whole impression of what negatives I read about him was shaken.

“By the time we had our meeting and he answered all of our questions, his entire image was reconstructed in my mind. There was a true gentleman, willing to answer any question we posed. He accepted some failings and told us why, and even took notes. My respect and admiration for him was multiplied many folds that night.”
Cheta Nwanze in a tribute wrote ," he was instrumental in shaping the contours of the Buhari administration policy thinking on agriculture, defining the government’s focus on achieving rice self-sufficiency"

Sam Nda-Isaiah is of the opinion that;"Mallam Abba Kyari  was a decent, humble and simple gentleman who delighted himself with intellectual and higher pursuits."

"He was cerebral. He was a technocrat, a workhorse and an accomplisher. He was not a perfect human being. Nobody was, nobody is and nobody will ever be. But he was a totally decent human being."

"Mallam Abba had no desire whatsoever for riches and worldly accoutrements. He had ample opportunities to feed such desires, if he had any. He was Managing Director and CEO of UBA at a time the bank was still at the top of the banking industry in Nigeria. Compare him to all those who had occupied that office in the past and you would understand what I mean".

"He was also on the board of Unilever Plc and ExxonMobil for several years, and, between 2000 and 2005, he was a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on investment in Nigeria. Since I knew Mallam Abba, his interests had always been about the Nigerian state. There was not a time we sat down to talk that the dominant subject was not Nigeria. "

"He had a great sense of humour and I used to tease him a lot. I would pull his legs about being Kanuri. He always retorted by saying he was Shuwa and not Kanuri, to which I always replied, “Same difference.” I often told him that he belonged to the most dangerous professions of the world. He was a banker, a lawyer and a journalist".
" he was consummately a practical man of peace. Mallam Abba would go the whole hog to reconcile feuding friends even when he had nothing to gain from that". "He was also a well-known man of integrity".

"Mallam Abba was an all-round family man. I have heard him utter the words, “You must never compromise your family.” He was a competent parent and a proud father who raised his kids and educated them to the highest possible standard. The very last thing we discussed on March 7 was my wife Zainab."

RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN CHINA: WE'LL FIGHT TILL VERY END

The federal government has announced that it has made it clear to China that they won't be accepting any form of discrimination or racism against Nigerians and other Africans in the country.

Minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama disclosed this at the daily media briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19 on Thursday April 23.

He revealed that the Nigerian government and other African nations are currently working together to ensure such incident never occurs again.

Onyeama said;
“Now we have been engaging with Chinese government at various levels  of our Consulate in Guangzhou, which is where these cases of discrimination and racism having taking place and also at the federal level in Beijing with our ambassador.

“So we’ve made it known to the Chinese government in no uncertain terms that under no circumstances will we accept racial discrimination against Nigerians or indeed Africans or blacks in China, that that is a red line for us.

“They have in turn told us that that there is no case of that ongoing but clearly, you know, we are seeing video, I have received reports and we’ve told them it’s unacceptable and we’re also engaging with other African countries to decide and work together on definitive steps and measures that we will take because of this situation.”

The Minister also disclosed that the Nigerian consulate in Guangzhou, has been directed to detail every single case of discrimination and loss or damage suffered by any Nigerian.
He added;
“We will pursue each and every single one very robustly with the Chinese government. If it requires compensation, damages etc”.

“So for us, as I said, it’s a red line and we’re going to fight till the very end. We’re extremely disappointed because we have excellent relations with the government and people of China the such a thing can happen at this stage and you know when there were calls for travel to be banned to China when recorded the outbreak in Wuhan and so forth, we went along with the World Health organisation’s advice, not to place a ban on China.

“We showed solidarity because we’ve also had our own experience of epidemics with Ebola and so forth, you know, but really we’re deeply wounded by what has happened to Nigerians and other Africans in China, of course, the government has given us explanations and so forth, but really it is something we never expected and we will pursue it to its final conclusion and we will not make any compromises in doing so.”

COVID-19: "I DON'T DONATE...LET ME BE"~~EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR

Togolese International, Emmanuel Adebayor, has revealed why he hasn't made any humanitarian or relief donations during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Adebayor, regarded as one of Africa's richest footballers with a choice collection of cars and mansions in Africa and Europe, says he won't be joining his African compatriots like Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba in donating cash or relief materials to his home nation.
Adebayor said in a Facebook Live video'For those of you who say I don't donate, let me be very clear, I don't donate. It is very simple,' .And he said he didn't bring the virus to Africa.

'I do what I want and eat what I want. Later, there will be people who will criticise me for the fact that I did not make a donation in Lome (capital of Togo).'

He also dismissed rumors that he was the one who brought the disease to Togo, after leaving his clubside in Paraguay.

'Some think that I was the one who introduced the virus in Lome,' he added. 'It is very unfortunate, but this country is like that.'

“I'm sorry that people compare me to Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba by asking me why I don't have a foundation or why I don't donate, as if I was the one who brought the coronavirus to Togo.

“I am neither the one nor the other, I am me, Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor and I will always do what I want. A word of advice for the guys regarding donations, I will not do that. Everything is clear and very simple. Thank you and good day.”
