EFCC RETURNS N5.7 BILLION SEIZED FROM ROCHAS OKOROCHA TO IMO STATE GOVERNMENT

The Zonal Head of the commission, Usman Imam, disclosed  that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has returned N5.7 billion out of the N7.9 billion seized from the former governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Rochas Okorocha.

He said;  “I started the Imo state case in Enugu and upon my deployment to this zone, the investigations of corruption allegations against the former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, was transfered from the Enugu zone to Port Harcourt for further investigations.

Within the period, the commission succeeded in freezing about N7.9bn in different accounts. All the monies that were released to Imo State government were from the N7.9bn recovered from Okorocha. The monies were released in batches.

N2.7bn was released in March for salaries. In the PDP government of Emeka Ihedioha, excess of N2.5bn upon series of writings and our insistence of monitoring it, was released to pay salaries and pensions because they were monies recovered from the state so it has to go back to the state.

Then the government of Emeka left and this government came, we had a remnant of the money in excess of N2bn. We were able to release N514milion just last month because excess of about N1.8bn is encumbered with a court process. Contractors went to court and targeted the funds. The process is lingering. They still have excess of N1.8bn that is not released” he said

Imam added that asides the money recovered from Okorocha, the senator’s assets were also identified in Imo and Abuja and seized by the commission. He said the commission has filed a court process for interim forfeiture of the assets confiscated from Okorocha.

“The investigation has got to an advanced stage and we are expecting that on conclusion, we are going to arraign the former governor. It is in the course of investigations that we targeted his assets. Some are in Imo, Owerri and some are in Abuja. We marked these properties in Abuja and we have filed court processes for interim forfeiture of these assets. The target is to conclude the investigations and he will have his day in court”.

Okorocha was governor of the state from 2011 to 2019.

NIGERIAN AIRPORTS : NO PLAN TO RE-OPENED SOON

PTF National Coordinator, on COVID-19 has denied fixing June 21, 2020, for resumption of air travel in the country. Sani Aliyu, stated this during the daily press briefing on Thursday in Abuja.

According to him, the Aviation Ministry was asked to prepare for reopening and update the Task Force.

“As you know, the Aviation Industry is highly regulated, there are things they must do before they start flying, such as retraining of pilots, recalibrating the aircrafts and ensuring safety across the board, as well as measures we need to impose at the airports to make sure that people are safe.

“If they come back to us and say they are ready from June 21 onwards, we will open the skies for domestic travels. And that’s when we will address the issue of inter-state restrictions and curfew. But for the moment, there’s no plan right now, to say June 21 here we go,”

JUNE 12: MKO ABIOLA AND IBB'S OPTION A4

June 12 , a day never to be forgotten in the history of a country called Nigeria. It was a day 14 millions Nigerians trooped out to elect thier own civilian President .
It all began with an IBB' Option A4' that brouht about the two main political parties at that time , SDP and NRC. The two Presidential candidates were Late MKO Abiola and Alhaji Bashir Tofa .
The symbolic thing at that period in time was that  Nigerians home and abroa jettisoned tribal, religious and regional affiliations .
"But alas the military had other plans . They annulled the June 12 elections with support of some disgruntled elements . Association for better Nigeria led by Imo state born politician Arthur Nzeribe and Abimbola Davies went to court to request for an order cancelling the most freest, fairest and peaceful elections  in Nigeria political history. The application was granted by Late Justice Ikpeme ." Like 'Oyinbo' people would say, the rest is now history.
Yoruba taditional Rulers against June 12 , are Oba Okunade Sijuade ,Oooni of Ife, Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero,Oba Frederick Aroloye Oba of Idanre.etc.etc.However, among all the Yoruba Obas , it was the Awujale of Ijebuland  that hold his head high and refused to bow to the Clandestine Abuja move.

Prominent Nigerian men that worked against June 12 are,Chief Arthur Eze Nzeribe, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu,Chief Alao Arisekola,Chief Ebenezer Babatope and Alhaji Babagana Kingibe.Chief Tony Anenih the SDP party chairman and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.etc.

Some of the IBB boys then were,Majors Mumuni Aminu, Lawan Gwadabe, Dangiwa Umar, sambo Dasuki, Gen. David Mark,Gen.Sanni Abacha,Gen. Bamaiyi

The lessons to learn, MKO Abiola, paid the supreme price for the democracy that few elites in Nigeria are noy enjoyed, the elite forgot that the masses fought for this with their blood. My candid advise to the people in power is that they need to to the needful befor its too late. June12 is on my mind.

ARCHBISHOP DUNCAN-WILLIAMS DEFENDS HIS SON ON WHY HE GOT INTIMATE WITH TWO WOMEN IN A POOL

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has reacted to criticism  on a viral video which shows his son getting intimate with two women inside a swimming pool.

Nicholas Duncan-Williams has now reacted to the backlash by revealing that his son has been battling a bipolar disorder for six years now which he blamed for the viral video.

A statement reads: “Mental Health: Toll, Tragedies and Hope

“The significance of psychological health has become very personal to Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams and his family. Six years ago, Archbishop’s son, Daniel Duncan-Williams, was diagnosed with acute bipolar disease. Through the family, Daniel has undergone the very best medical interventions, treatments and hospitalizations, yet he still experiences relapses when he does not continue on his prescribed medication.

“His outbursts on social media and elsewhere should not be media fodder or click-bait; We acknowledge that the obscenities are abhorrent but understand that he has a serious illness. Daniel is not of himself and he has never been in prison.

“Historically, many mega pastors have all had to deal with their personal family challenges in the public eye and in this same vein, we also ask you to separate “who a person is from their mistakes”. We love Daniel, and we believe God’s mercy turns what was meant for evil to good, for them that love the lord and are called according to his purpose. Daniel also continues to be covered and supported spiritually with intense and consistent prayers.

“The Archbishop has prayed all over the world for nations, leaders, pastors, families, mothers and lay people and at this time, he asks that you join in prayer for Danny and the family. We are believing, with God on our side, that Daniel will come out of this stronger and with a testimony to the glory of God.

“The Archbishop says “this is a test of his faith. In his own words; “I acknowledge the situation my son is in, and I still love him…please pray for us…. “Love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

“The Archbishop and his family continue to stand firm in their faith believing God for Daniel’s full deliverance, healing and restoration. We ask that you please respect their privacy as they navigate through this trying time.

“Psalms 3:3. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head”.
