Kayode OLAGUNJU is a pioneer staff of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). He was born on the 13th of March, 1963 in Ilesa. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Transport Geography from the University of Lagos, Lagos, Masters degree in Transportation Studies from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and a Bachelor of Science degreein Geography from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He is also a Specialist in Firearms (Guns) handling and Instruction having been certified as a Firearms Instructor and Armourer by the Police Service Division, New York, United States of America. He has attended several Courses, Workshops and Seminars in the field of Transportation, Road Safety and Security both within and outside Nigeria.
Presently, Commander Olagunju is the Rivers State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria. He was the pioneer Corps Transport Standardization Officer and a two time Sector Commander, FRSC in Lagos State. He was also Sector Commander in Oyo, Kogi, and Adamawa States . Olagunju was Head, Media and Publishing Section at the National Headquarters while he also served as the Deputy Director, Manpower Development, Training Directorate, National Headquarters. Olagunju was an "all rounder" sportsman and was once the Chairman, FRSC Sports Committee. He also served as the President, Mess Committee of the FRSC mess reflecting his social links. He is presently, the Coordinator of the FRSC Social Media Group, managing FRSC presence in the Social media.
Dr Olagunju was a member of the Federal Government Task Force on Trade Facilitation and United States Agency International Development USAID/ Markets Trade and Transportation on LAKAJI Corridor. Olagunju, was a member of the Nigeria National Road Transport and Transit Committee of the Economic Commission on West African States (ECOWAS). He was also a member of the Federal Government Enlarged National Focal Point on Trade Matters and was a Nigerian delegate to the World Trade Organization Trade Policy Review on Nigeria in Geneva, in June 2011.
He has authored and edited several books and technical reports on Road Safety Administration, among which are : Road Sense with Kayode OLAGUNJU; Driving in Nigeria: Requirements, Laws, Traffic Agencies and Safety Tips; Fleet Management Strategies in Nigeria: Road Safety Perspectives.
He has over forty awards and commendation letters in his kitty. He also won the FRSC Road Safety Merit Award, that is, the FRSC Chief Executive’s Award, for “Outstanding Performance and Dedication to Service”, in 1993 and also in 1999 for “Dedication to Duty, Honesty and Exemplary conduct”.
He is married to the multiple award winning broadcaster/journalist, Seun Olagunju. The family is blessed with three children, Damola, Damilola and Demilade. His hobbies include hunting, reading & sports.
Today(21-08-2013), Kayode OLAGUNJU (PhD), to the glory of God is being decorated as an Assistant Corps Marshal of a World class organization, the Federal Road Safety Corps.
