The
question in the mouth of many residents of Itamogiri, Ijebu-Imushin, on Sunday
was that, what prompted this ‘old soldier’ to commit suicide!
A
retired soldier from the Nigerian Army, name unknown, but referred to as ‘old
soldier’ was
on Sunday
night suspected to have committed suicide at the open space at the back of his
house in Itamogiri, Ijebu-Imusin in the Ijebu East Local Government of Ogun
State.
According
to the source, the deceased man was an Isoko man from Delta State State, was
said to be living alone without his wife but his grown up children do visit him
regularly.
However,
a day before the incident, it was gathered that one of his children came
to visit him and gave him some money with a promise that his siblings have
decided to buy him a motor bike to use for commercial purpose.
On the day of the unfortunate incident, it was told that
the other tenants in the house had gone for the yearly Ebibi Festival and the
man was alone in the house,; it was when they came back they found his body
hung on a tree at the back of the house.
Moreover, some people believed there was foul play as a
critical look at the dead man does not portray that of a man who hung himself.
We on ‘Blog with fury’ suggest that the Ogun state
police command should look into this issue critically.
