GHANA: WORKERS PROTEST AGAINST WORSENING ECONOMICS CONDITIONS

 African politician are all the same, they leave a live of lies and deceit. The impression given to outsider was that Ghana is now a paradise where citizens are having everything in abundant!

Meanwhile, thousands of workers today converged at the Obra Spot, Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, to protest against the worsening economic conditions in the country

Solomon Kotei, General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), said the protests were organized to mount pressure on government to introduce measures that will turn the economy around.

"We are not talking about wages at all in this struggle...we have spoken about the ability [of government] to halt the depreciation of the cedi against the major trading currencies, review prices of petroleum products in a way that continuous price increments that is affecting the economy will be minimised," Kotei said.

About 500 heavily armed personnel from the police service had taken position to ensure the demonstration proceeded peacefully
